I don't even know if I can say enough wonderful things about Osteria Forto. I only wished I had visited sooner because this was a top-tier experience for me. I felt like a VIP from the moment I arrived. The service was impeccable! The word that keeps coming to my mind is personable. From being greeted warmly upon my arrival, to our personable server, Hayley, to attentive support staff keeping my water glass full and frequently clearing plates, to the owner, Liz, personally serving our dessert. I really like the way they wrap the leftovers to take home. It's a very thoughtful touch. So my review of the food is a bit different as my dining companion is vegan so when they initially made the reservation some time ago, they requested a vegan menu and wow did Osteria Forto outdo themselves! They created a personal printed seasonal menu for us with the option to do all four courses and we said "yes!" We began with a grilled asparagus salad over greens with roasted beets and a delicious wild mushroom vinaigrette. It was my favorite part of the meal! The second course is considered an appetizer of linguine pasta with blistered tomatoes and tofu in a garlic olive oil. It would be plenty for a lighter appetite. The main entree was a giant stuffed Heirloom tomato with farro, on a bed of polenta that was surrounded by a sauce that contained Brussels sprouts and golden raisins. It was a large serving and I could only eat a third of it. The final touch was a dessert of fresh grilled peaches with house made granola. Such a perfect way to end up a hot Summer day. There is plenty of parking in a shared lot with easy access for disabled folks. The ambiance is upscale but not stuffy. They offer seating in their dining room, at the bar or patio. This place is doing everything right! Our server Derrick, was outstanding. The manager came by a couple of times and all staff that we came in contact with was top top tier with knowledge and kindness. I had the best espresso martini in life. The calamari and arancini was also amazing. We had a party of 5 so we tried several dishes. Everyone loved the veal but the sea bass and the Rigatoni Cardinale dishes were my personal favorites. Perfectly cooked and a great balance of flavors. I also got the Lobster Al Cognac which was also well cooked and flavorful but I probably would'nt order it again. It is pricey but worth it for a fine dining experience. Great wine options. Ambiance is very welcoming, warm and intimate. I'll be back, for sure. read more

Our first time here and I was admittedly surprised by the elevated nature of the restaurant! We sat at the bar and our server was very helpful. Didn't grab a picture of the Caesar salad, but unfortunately it was underwhelming. The dressing didn't have much flavor and almost tasted a little oily for my liking. I got the rigatoni bolognese, without cream and it was very tasty! My husband had the cavatappi salsiccia which had great flavor and the sausage was not aggressively fennel flavored. For dessert we got the tiramisu, which was a little underwhelming as well. Overall, though, a good experience and we will be back to try other things on the menu. read more

We enjoyed the intimate setting that allowed us to have a nice dinner conversation without straining to hear over the rumble of a loud dining room. Decided to pop in on a Saturday evening around 6:00 PM with no reservations. The dining room was completely full. We were able to find two seats at the bar. I came in knowing exactly what I wanted so we ordered quickly with the bartender Dan. It didn't take long and our food was. The sea bass was everything I wanted. It was so good and all the flavors meshed together nicely. The service here is top notch. Dan was very attentive and fast. First time patrons and it's difficult to summarize all the ways this establishment hit the mark. Perfect in every way. 5 stars in all areas (ambiance, culinary, service, engagement). A real treat. The place seemed to have a decent bar crowd with the bartender making what looked like incredible chocolate martinis! Good regional wine selection from both USA and Europe. The Wedge salad with bits of fried pancetta, grape tomatoes and a dolce gorgonzola dressing was outstanding and my wife loved the Pasta Cardianal with large pieces of lobster in a light tomato herb cream sauce. I was thinking about the beef filet but enjoyed some crab cakes as a main course instead. Good thing because I happened to see a server bring out a filet with a huge side plate of veges and mashed potatoes. Portions are big here! Very personable AND attentive service. Even the smallest touches like having a "to go" container wrapped sealed so that it doesn't spill in the car. I mean.....who does that? Hey, St. Charles vegan friends! My daughter treated me to an early birthday dinner tonight at Osteria Forto on Highway K! If you call ahead of time to reserve a seat, you can let them know you're a vegetarian or vegan and the chef will accommodate your dietary needs or restrictions! We didn't do that but I got the house salad but their dressing isn't vegan so they gave me lemon, olive oil and balsamic and it was so good! Then they made their penne sorrentino vegan by eliminating the buffalo mozzarella ... it was the perfect dish with delicious sauce, saureed arugula and penne! Perfectly seasoned with a touch of spice. Chef's kiss!!! So so so good!!! We will be back! Super clean, so cute, the manager was so accommodating... best customer service we've had in a long time! Fantastic new Italian spot in Ofallon! Had a reservation tonight and my husband and I were immediately sat. There is a good amount of seating and a lovely bar. There was a big group (10-15 or so) in the back- so I believe they can accommodate larger parties. The inside is beautiful and more upscale. Erin, our waitress, waited on us hand and foot and was an absolute doll. We started with the calamari and Forto salad and both were delicious. The sauce with the calamari is to die for. The portions were more than fair. Complimentary bread and oil come out as well and the bread is warm and fresh- so yum. For entrees we had the chicken parm and subbed a side of cream pasta for the seasonal vegetable it came with (Brussels and potatoes) as well as the chicken cacciatore with the seasonal vegetable. Both came out promptly and were fantastic! Portion sizes were large. The cream pasta was absolutely amazing- super creamy and lots of garlic. We past up dessert because we had to practically wheel ourselves out but will be back as Erin told us everything is homemade! Nice experience with pretty good food. It is located in a strip center storefront, but once you walk in, the only way you really know is because the windows let you see outside. Workers were helpful, attentive, and efficient. Our server was very nice. The salads were quite good, with a variety of ingredients, including items such as artichoke hearts, hearts of palm, kalamata olives, etc. The wife's chicken piccata, served over mashed potatoes and artichokes was delicious. It came with two boneless chicken breasts, so there was a lot of food. My pork rib chop saltimbocca was similarly large, 14 oz. It was well prepared and about as good as it could be for a pork chop. However, veal or chicken may be a preferred choice - not a knock on the restaurant, just a preference. I subbed the vegetables for a side of pasta with tomato basil sauce. The restaurant had an impressive, intimate atmosphere thanks to its cozy, small dining area, making it perfect for a date night. Our waitress recommended a Pinot Noir called "Root Cause," which paired wonderfully with our meal. I chose the Penne Sorrentina on her suggestion, and it was delicious. I added shrimp, which was fantastic. The dish is slightly spiced and helps the blend of flavors overall. My date had the Rigatoni Bolognese with meatballs but found it a bit lacking in flavor. Fabulous meal with outstanding service. Rick was our server. He immediately made our group of six comfortable. He was there whenever we needed attention but didn't hover or disrupt. His wine recommendation was spot on. I had the wagyu beef special with hen of the woods mushroom risotto. It was well prepared. The risotto was cooked to perfection with a creamy texture and a rich flavor from the mushrooms. Two of the guys had the double cut pork chop. Both loved it. The chop was tender and moist. Two others had pasta with bolognese. They were also raving about how good the meal was. Don't forget dessert. We had a variety and all were delicious. Boosting my rating a little bit. After telling the owner that we were going to the sports bar next door, he called Mike's and paid our tab. I do appreciate him trying to make it right, but it was too, little too late. Previous: I won't be back. We had reservations for 6 at 7 o'clock, finally got seated at 7:20. The waitress took our drink orders and appetizers at 7:30. And then...... We waited and waited, and waited. We did get our appetizers and one round of drinks. We asked for bread, never got it. Wanted another round of drinks, crickets. Multiple tables came in after us, got their food and check and left. We still never got our food. After an hour and 45 minutes, we left. Finally saw the manager (20 minutes after we asked to see him) who just said "sorry guys". We offered to pay for our drinks, at least he said he'd take care of it. He also offered that he could wrap the food up for us, but it was too late. Got a burger at Mike's next door. read more

I had 2 drinks. They were good. BUT... We were in a group of 6 with a 7:00 reservation. We had to wait for 20 minutes for our table. We ordered apps and bread. We had to ask for bread 3 times and never got it. We waited for well over an hour for food and finally asked about the status. Our server said "it's coming" and "I'll send the owner right over". They never stopped by. After a total of 2 hours after we ordered with no food, we finally left. A couple members from our group grabbed the manager/owner as we were walking out. I am excited to see the finer dining scene expand in St. Charles County. I spend most of my time and money across the River when I'm looking for a good meal. PLEASE NOTE: This space is on the smaller side. As a new spot in the area, I highly recommend you making a reservation. Upon our arrival, we were greeted warmly and escorted to our table. The ambiance was modern and welcoming. The highlight of our visit was our server Erin. She is personable and professional. She made excellent recommendations and provided excellent service. The wine list could be a little more extensive, I'm definitely a bit of a snob when it comes to wine and appreciate selection. We decided to forgo appetizers and went with salads instead. The Caprese salad is delicious! Every note was well executed and the flavor was perfect. We also enjoyed the house salad Della Casa. There could have been just a little more to this plate, but the flavors worked well together. For entrees we went with the chicken piccata with white wine lemon and butter. What's not to love! We also tried the salmon. We highly recommended this dish! A generous piece of perfectly cooked salmon with a delicious cream sauce. Each entree is served with the vegetable of the day. On our visit potatoes and green beans were served along side. Well seasoned and a touch of Parmesan cheese rounded out the meal. Even if you don't have room, you will want to order dessert to go. We went with the tiramisu which was fantastic! We also recommend the panna cotta with caramel apples. This was an absolute treat. So, I order my food online. What do I see? A picture of a glorious slice of carrot cake. Hell, I haven't had carrot cake in ages! $12, you say? Aww...that's a little too much for dessert, am I right? So, I order it anyway. Merry Christmas to myself; I deserve it. I pick up my food. The 5 mile drive home was tough, but 100% of the food made it home. I am disciplined. I rub my palms together and pull out a tiny container. What the.... Is that a cupcake? Did I pay $12 for a cupcake? Listen, I get it's the holidays. Do I need the extra calories? No, but shouldn't I be the judge of that? How dare you? This is the second biggest bait and switch, I've come across. The first was a timeshare that I bought years ago, but I digress. I hope whomever is responsible for this has a nail in their tire, a slow leak...not too much. I'm only hoping for a minor inconvenience...so you can feel the let down that I feel at this moment. You're lucky the rest of your food was delicious. Now, for the rest of you that have made it this far. I can feel you quietly judging me. Was our second time visiting but will unfortunately be the last. First visit 2024: Made no prior reservation. Staff was polite and personable. Food (two pasta dishes) was of good quality and brought quickly. Second visit 2025: Made no prior reservation. Maitre'd (possibly manager) made obvious gestures and remarks to the hostess that he was intentionally delaying seating us even though she indicated that table was open and available. Server was inattentive and impersonable. We observed that her nearby tables were treated much better than us. Waited 1 hour to receive our meal (two pasta dishes) even though after a reasonable time (about 30 minutes) after ordering, we indicated that we had a limited time and needed to pick up our child at a set time. This meal made my spouse violently ill about 6 hours later. This may sound extreme, but it is possible that we were targeted to be treated differently because we did not make a reservation. read more

For an appetizer we had the crostini ( I can't remember what it was called). It was so good. I would definitely get it again. My husband and I enjoyed the Caesar salad as well. For the main course I had the eggplant and a side of pasta. For me the eggplant had a good flavor, however I didn't enjoy the cheese under the eggplant as it was cold. I thought the pasta was good. My husband had shrimp scampi and that was really good as well. The service was great! Our server was friendly and attentive. The food came out at a reasonable amount of time. This place is just a mile from my house and I'm angry with myself for not going sooner! Dining and bar areas are finished out nicely. We got great service from Jill and Tristan. We came in near closing but never felt rushed. Tortellini, seafood pasta, calamari (a generous portion!) and a chocolatey peanut buttery cake were all delicious. The bread (with dipping oil) was good but could have been hotter and fresher; ah, the pitfalls of late dining. I know this place is still pretty new, so this review could easily go from 4 to 5 stars. Beautiful space, but a little tight. We made a reservation for 7:30 and we were seated right at 7:30. Our server was Stephanie. She is extremely sweet and kind - but obviously extremely busy. Our bus fella was a man of the people. He chatted with us about the restaurant, and brought us bread...and made us chuckle. Good to see kids like that who take pride in their work. He had curly hair - I wish I had his name. Hang onto him...he is going places. Stephanie let us know up front that the kitchen was a little backed up. We waited about 20 minutes for the calamari (which was perfect)...and about an hour for our meals. We appreciated the transparency up front. My wife had the eggplant parm, which she said was absolutely terrific with the tomato basil pasta as a side. I had the rigatoni Carindale - which did not look like a $38 plate, but surprised me with how good it was. It could have been a little warmer, but it was still fantastic. The truffle fries and lemon aioli were fire. The salads were great, and though the price is a little high for those, we get it. Inflation is crazy. Both were very tasty. The bread here is top notch. We are very critical of bread at Italian spots - and we were super impressed with it here... especially with the balsamic and olive oil. We took home a tiramisu, and demolished it. It is easily the best dessert in the area...and one of the best we can remember eating. The manager (or owner) checked on us to see how the food was, and I noticed he was going around to other tables as well. As a foodie who goes to MANY restaurants, this is something I expect in a fine dining establishment...and that is what this place is. We needed this in O'Fallon. My husband and I loved our dinner tonight at Osteria Forto. It was our first time there and we had a 7:00 reservation and did not get seated until about 7:20. The rest of the evening was fantastic. Charlie our waiter was great and very attentive. We started with truffle Parmesan fries, arancini and the calamari. The arancini wasn't to my liking but my husband loved them. The truffle fries and calamari were incredible! Best calamari I have ever had. We had the pork modiga and chicken Parmesan for our entrees and were super impressed by the large portions and delicious authentic flavors. Also fresh, warm bread and balsamic/olive oil for dipping are brought to the table. We finished with a limoncello cheesecake which was delicious. Definitely found a new local favorite after moving to OFallon and driving back to our old STL spots (Napoli, Gios, Katie's) for the past few years - what a find! The food is good, but the menu badly needs a greater variety, a few additional items and a small downward price adjustment. They bill themselves as upscale, but too "up" for the location (see "Ambiance"). Service is fantastic (Jill, Meagan, Hailey and Jess are great). Bussers are always there at the right time for refills, pick-up etc. Owner does visit tables and is friendly, not ostentatious or egotistic. The ambiance is generally nice. Tables nicely set, furniture is newer and the entire venue is extremely clean and orderly. The dining area could use one or two fewer tables. There is often crowding experienced by the servers. Some volume-controlled music in the background would be appropriate. Last, and most important ambiance comment deals with the lighting. It is too bright for a restaurant that presents itself as upscale and pricey; a primary component of the 'real' upscale facilities. You cannot enjoy a 'Romantic' / 'Date Night' experience under these circumstances. read more

It's not easy to find a nicer restaurant with good food and equally good cocktails in the burbs. The cocktail menu and execution were great. Service was phenomenal. We brought two little ones and they could not have been kinder and more attentive to them which made our experience so enjoyable. My 2 year old didn't ask to get up and walk around one time because he was so content (with the cheese and orange slices they gave him)!! What!!! Amazing.
