I just want to comment in response to reading the post by John D. Even if there was a communication issue I don't want that to take any credit away from great dentists they have there. I have had my teeth clean by Dr. Jacob Pham and also his sister Dr. Alice Pham. Readers should know that they are great dentists! Dr. Alice Pham shares all the qualities that I like about Dr. Jacob Pham and I am truly thankful that they are the ones to take care of my teeth. Before I went to see Dr. Pham (x2) I could not find a dentist who was gentle and cared about patients. Most dentists that I saw would cause me pain in both my mouth and wallet by poor treatment and unnecessary tests. Need a dentist... look no more! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND BOTH DR. With much trepidation I set up my appt. with Brite Dental. For years I have had a wonderful dentist and hygenist far outside the San Jose area. Fairly new to Silicon Valley, we recently got on board with Delta USA insurance and Brite was included in their list of participating practices. First, let me say, the customer service from the beginning was polite, caring and very helpful. I had a preliminary exam with Dr. Alice who seemed quite professional. When I arrived today for my root planing apt. I asked if it were possible to have the procedure done without novacaine. At first the staff seemed appalled that I would ask. Then as I explained my past history again, they shrugged and said "if that's what you want, sure". Everything went smoothly and efficiently. I'm hard to please.....I can tell when this procedure is being done correctly since I've been through it so many times. I'm so pleased that they listened to me. So many people in the medical fields today don't seem to understand or even listen to their patients. We all know our own bodies best so it makes sense for them to listen, right? I'm going back for the rest of the treatment next week. Thanks, Dr. Alice, and all the rest of the pros at Brite. (I gave 4 stars since I'm basing my review on 2 visits.) Dr. Pham is the best dentist I've ever had. He's gentle, thorough, very kind (I'm a nervous dental patient). I needed an extraction/implant, and his office provided an excellent referral immediately. Additionally, I had some cavities, and Dr. Pham took care of those promptly after my cleaning. Soooo I have been getting my teeth cleaned twice per year since I was a kid, always had great dentists that did the job well. Since I switched dental insurances, I had to find a new dentist and disregarding the terrible reviews I decided to try this place. I regret it. The reviews are beyond truthful....receptionist and dental assistants are sooo unprofessional (they were gossiping as soon as I walk in to register) and very catty! it was the weirdest vibe I ever received from a "professional" medical establishment. Both the receptionist and the medical assistant looked at me funny for interrupting their gossiping session, anyway......sat on the chair and met the dentist. He asked me where I was getting seen before and when I mentioned the name, he stated "i never heard of that dentist before". Most likely because my previous dentist belongs to a network of dentists that know how to clean teeth. Worst teeth cleaning I have ever gotten. The dental assistant didn't even bother to floss my teeth at the end. The dentist also recommended some procedures that were "preventative". My previous dentist never mentioned them so right away I knew this dentist was just trying to get me to schedule any type of appointment he could to get my insurance to cover it. Overall, I dont think this dentist really cared about what was really going on in my mouth and just wanted to book procedures. I wish I could go back to my previous dentist but I will continue to search for one that is under mu insurance :( and I will definitely consider what folks are saying in the reviews this time! read more

I just needed to go to the dentist to have my teeth cleaned. Brite dental said I needed to get x rayed first. I didn't need x-rays (I get checked with military), but figured my insurance covered it and scheduled it anyways... I went to get x-rayed, after which they told me what I already knew that I needed a teeth cleaning and charged me $93 with insurance, not for x-rays but for pictures they took of my mouth... With a camera... They then wanted to schedule a cleaning, and the cost of the cleaning, even with with my insurance was going to be $190... You have got to be freaking kidding me. I don't pay into my insurance every month to have me have that high of a copay. I'm so livid. Never once did they say that they would charge me for any of this, nor did they ask if I wanted any of it. I had talked to another dentist-who I wasn't covered by, and they had a deal for a cleaning for $99... So I could have just payed $6 more then what I paid for the stupid pictures to go to the place I wasn't insured at, and get my teeth cleaned... Like I wanted all along. read more

My hubby and I have both had AWFUL experiences with corrupt dentists before (one guy went to jail for it). So we came to Yelp to find out who we could trust that would take our crappy insurance through SJSU (Delta USA). And Yelp delivered. Dr. Pham is a young, very quiet, and very patient dentist. He does most of the work himself...we both had our teeth cleaned by him, not a hygenist. I have never had a pain-free cleaning before in my life...until Dr. Pham. He is very careful and very patient, and explains everything to you. My husband and I both had concerns from past shoddy work... particularly loose fillings, and Dr. Pham reassured us. The most amazing part for me was that Dr. Pham was the first dentist to ever find my bottom two wisdom teeth. I had been told by every dentist I've ever had (that's 6, mind you) that I did not have wisdom teeth on the bottom, but Dr. Pham showed me on the x-ray how the other dentists had missed these two teeth, and told me what to watch for to see if they ever need to come out (and I am 31 years old, people!). No advertising from this dentist. No false diagnosis of cavities to make a buck, no recommendations on whitening or veneers or extra crap like that. No talking to his assistant while he is working; his attention is focused on you, the patient. His office staff is wonderful; the receptionist told me exactly what I needed to do to get my insurance switched over to them before my appointment, and they took care of all the billing. No waiting at all...they only schedule one patient at a time (although the two of us went together), so we walked in and they were ready for us. I've seen it all, ladies and gents...I did dentists and orthodontists galore as a kid with braces, headgear, tooth extractions (I had extra teeth when I was born). And Dr. Pham is AWESOME. Highly recommended for a pain-free, relaxed experience. read more

I recently started coming to Brite dental and I could not be more happy I made the change! Every single person I've come into contact with is so nice which for someone with dentist anxiety makes all the difference! Before I used to dread going into the dentist and the staff at Brite dental has completely changed that. Not only are they super nice, they are incredibly accommodating. I had to switch to them without notice and they made sure to work with my insurance to get me in right away. The office is always clean, I'm always seen on time and never have waited long in the chair for Dr. Chu to see me. I could go on and on, but you get the idea! I was getting laid off and my insurance was ending, so I went in to use it for the first time before it expired. I asked the doctor and assistants to make sure that only that which was covered under my insurance would be covered since I didn't want to pay anything extra. They said that was fine. I reiterated this maybe three times during my time there. The dentist was nice, and the cleaning went fine. I left assured that I wouldn't have to pay anything. Four weeks later I received a bill stating that my insurance didn't cover everything and I was going to be charged $44. I tried to remind the secretary that she'd assured me that my insurance covered everything and that I wouldn't have to pay anything. She just responded that the insurance didn't cover everything and that I would have to pay the balance. Just a little disheartening that's all. read more

If all you need is your teeth cleaned Dr. Steve Chu is fine. Otherwise I would NOT go to this guy! I went to him after injuring my mouth at a restaurant. It was very painful and I was sure something was broken. I told him this story and he x-rayed me examined the tooth and said it was a little loose and it would be fine in 2 weeks or so. I went home and it just got worse and worse. I went to another dentist for a second opinion (the x-ray looked fine) and it took him just a minute or so of poking around to determine that the tooth was cracked right down the middle! He was shocked and shaking his head as he walked down the hall that the first guy missed it. A third dentist confirmed the diagnosis. Because of the delay I developed an abyss and needed a bone graft (after the damaged beyond repair tooth was pulled) I'm in for a 6 month or longer healing period and a tooth implant $5600. This is not a story from a person unhappy with the outcome of a procedure. He missed it. Update: as for their response, my description of the events was accurate. I didn't say it felt fine that day. I was in fact completely unable to chew on that side. I doubt it's even possible to "feel fine" with your tooth completely cracked in half! They didn't mention the fracture etc. Sending me home at that point makes no sense if it's broken?? It's fiction. I was unhappy with them at the time but certainly not going to make up stories to attack them. I'm sorry it sounds quite bad but it is what it is. Maybe a lack of experience on his part, missing my injury I don't know. I think if I'm in their shoes I might have called instead of responding here to call me a liar. To be clear I was in for an implant anyway. The result of missing it was an infection which led to the necessity of a bone graft and additional healing time. read more

This place has no customer service mannerisms. I called in June 2017 to schedule an appointment. There was no hello and thanks for calling. All I got was, "Sorry, but you can not schedule an appointment until you are on our list." I got insurance right away and called back. The phone person didn't acknowledge me again with any hello and thanks for calling. Just, "We can not make you an appointment until you are on our list." She didn't explain how to get on the list or anything. It was as if she was implying, "Well, duh sir, don't you know how it works here." No, I don't. I'm new to your office. More than a month later, no call, not even a hint. I called back to schedule an appointment. I got a mild hello but still no thanks for calling. I was trying to make an appointment in July or August, but she said that, because of our insurance, she can't make any appointment until September and still no thank you or see you then. It is September now, and my wife just got there. This is her text to me just 20 minutes ago. "You sure you want to go here? So far this place has worse customer service. No hello, thank you. They're running over 30 minutes late." I responded, "Just come home, seriously." She responded, "I asked the people here. They seemed to like the dentist, so I'll wait." So there you have it. The one redeeming quality was a dentist whom we've never met. I hope its true. This is all a true story. If you are the dentist at Brite Dental and reading this, please make a change. read more

Stay far away from here! This used to be a good dentist to go to but the new office staff are horrible. When I came in to get my son's 6-month check up they told me I would have to pay a certain amount according to my insurance. I had just changed the policies (same plan, different policy #) and was confused because I never paid anything before. I asked the "lady" in front if she could call the insurance company and verify the info she had was right. At first she said she would, but then the new dentist (Dr. Pham's little sister straight from college) said that it was not their job to call the insurance company. Not their job???!! I just wanted verification. She said I was welcome to find another dentist. I told her I would but didn't want to get charged the missed appointment fee. She was so nice and waived the fee (total sarcasm here) Needless to say, I told them their customer service was horrible and left. This place is going downhill! read more

Dr Pham was great, but now on medical leave. His sister, very inexperienced was there for a while. She was WAY too green. Didn't even wait for me to properly numb up before she started drilling! The doc there now, seemed okay until I had a problem. I'm now suspicious he's way to inexperienced too. My filling they put in, broke and fell out twice and after admitting there wasn't enough tooth to hold the filling in, he wants to to the same thing again. I don't want to go through that for nothing. He suggested we do an inlay but said he didn't want to because it's very hard to do and there's more drilling. Is he thinking about me or himself? His receptionist told me he hasn't done one there yet. Hmm.... Maybe it's just me but I don't trust him. read more

I meant to post this review in June...better late than never. I've been a patient at Brite Dental, on and off, since 2008. I've always received great care. This review refers to a broken tooth repair that Dr. Chu performed, on very short notice, just before my family and I were flying overseas for a long trip. He made the time to fit me in, and took care of my problem, obviously at some inconvenience, especially since I was way overdue for a visit. I'm very thankful for the care I receive there. read more

If I could give ZERO stars I would. The girl at the front desk is so unprofessional, in her manners, her customer service (or lack thereof), in her language (swearing at a professional dentists office? Seriously?) They NEVER answer their phone, and if they bother to call you back they do it right before they close and rush you off the phone, telling you to call back another time. The dentist missed 3 major problems in my mouth, resulting in major procedures at my new dentist, which I have been assured could not have easily been missed. I have tried to put up with them for over a year, and just can't do it anymore. They constantly reschedule appointments at the last minute, I mean constantly. Not a single appointment I set was able to be kept by their office. I highly recommend that NOBODY go here. Even Western Dental is better than they are, and that says a lot. read more

I have never been to a dentist office where they only take x-rays and then look at your teeth and say okay, you're good to go... this was my first appt with them and I told them I had not seen a dentist in almost a year. With every other dentist appt that I've been to (not here) I have always received a cleaning with the appt, I mean that is why I'm there. I insisted on having a cleaning to which they said they could schedule something in a month. Leading up to this first appt they had called me a week prior to it leaving a message that the appt had to be rescheduled. I called them back immediately, no answer, left message, but didn't hear back from them...so I called the following week (the day before my appt)and asked why the appt had to be changed, she wouldn't say why just the appt had to be rescheduled. The staff to me are not warm and friendly, nor seem to care about their patients. That was the first and last appt! ...To the Business Owner's response: If this is your "protocol" for your first visits, how about you specifically inform your new patients as this was NOT the treatment my husband received as a new patient here nor was it a "protocol" at any other dentist office I have ever been to. It was frustrating enough trying to get a first appt here...now I'm expected to wait a whole month+ to actually receive a cleaning. And if this was the case, why wasn't the option to schedule a cleaning asked when the initial visit was being scheduled. I think I would prefer the longer "wait time in the lobby", or better yet, plan for the x-rays and cleaning all together in one visit as ever other office does. I know I did. And I'm sorry but there is no excuse for staff to come across to patients, especially who are new to the office, as unwelcoming and unfriendly. No excuse! Hope you have a GREAT day! read more

I'm not a big fan of dentists so I don't get my teeth cleaned too frequently, but my smile is important to me and since my other dentist is in Socal... I decided to ask around and a friend of my recommended this place in Campbell. I scheduled my appointment over the phone and a few days before the appointment, I got a friendly reminder. The place is pretty convenient to 880/280 and there is ample parking so getting there after work was easy. The office is small, but the receptionist was friendly. My company doesn't have dental insurance yet, so I paid cash. They had the standard dental forms...Anyhow, I got xrays and a cleaning. Dr. Chu was pretty good. My teeth felt clean afterwards and I didn't have any pain. In the past, I've been to dentists where I spit out a bit of blood and hear grinding against my teeth. Those are not so great and I tend to avoid all dentists afterwards for a while... In this case, though, it went well, so I'll try to drop by a bit sooner for a cleaning than usual. He works weekends, so that's a plus as well. read more

I can't say enough great things about this office and Dr. Steve Chu. They got me an appointment immediately when I was in pain due to cavities, called right back over the weekend when I was still in pain and was seen first thing next day. I would recommend Dr. Chu to anyone who wants a referral for a dentist. His calm demeanor helps relieve anxiety that usually comes with going to dentist and he always makes you are comfortable and not in pain during your procedure. Dr. Steve Chu is a crook and a con man. What more can I say he's going to try to sell you every expensive procedures can. Don't take his word for every useless thing that he says she need done. All I wanted was a cleaning and a wisdom tooth extracted that didn't make him happy. he doesn't do wisdom teeth. He sent me to another dentist for consultation who wanted to give me a bunch of gum surgery. He doesn't do wisdom teeth either. So I made an appointment to have my teeth cleaned. The appointment was almost two months away. When it finally came up they cancelled it made another appointment a month and a half away. At this rate I don't think I'm going to get to cleaning so year. They never called to remind me about the appointment or sent me any kind of information or email. The girl at the front desk is totally useless like talking to a parakeet. When I finally got the cleaning it was by an assistant who just been hired her name was Phuong and she was actually excellent and did a fine job. But the bottom line is if you don't go for Steve Chu con job and pay for a bunch of procedure you don't need they want to waste your time so you leave and they can get somebody else and that they can screw. read more

I was scheduled to get a cavity filled in, but I experienced some pain and discomfort four days prior to my appointment. I called the office, and Dr Chu agreed to see me within an hour. He gave me palliative care with the help of a temporary filling, assuring me that it will stop the pain till I receive a permanent filling in a few days time. I was indeed pain-free till I received my permanent filling as promised by Dr Chu. I was pleasantly surprised with prompt and competent service I received at Brite Dental. read more

I am visiting from out of state and my crown came loose. After shopping around, the cost was $100.00 including visit and x-ray. Other dentists were quoting me $160 - $280. just to cement it back in. I was able to get an appointment on the same day. Dr. Pham and his staff were pleasant and professional. Since I visit the area often, I think I will see Dr. Pham instead of my regular dentist in Oregon. read more

My parents and I have been going to Jacob Pham for years now, both at his old location (in Santa Clara) and to his new office (in Campbell). He is the most trustworthy dentist I have ever had. Dr Pham loves his work. Absolutely loves what he does and he always makes you feel welcome at his office. I know dentist who will pass off tasks such as cleanings to their assistants and will not even check up on you when you come in for those cleanings. However, Dr Pham always makes sure he gets some face time with you and keeps track of your dental health. That's been the most important factor to me over the years. Even when I had no time to go in for more than a year, when I came back to him, he knew exactly where he had left off and knew exactly what the state of my teeth was. Dr. Pham is better than most dentists because he cares. He's not just a dentist, he's a friend. I trust him with what he does. read more

The receptionist is not very helpful and makes many mistakes. For instance, she scheduled an appt then called back and said the hygenist actually is not there on that day and that she'll call us back. Never got a call back. When I called back to reschedule, I learned that the Dr. wants to expand his business so the hygentist is doing most of the cleanings and has a very limited schedule. Oh, and yes we filled out the postcard to get a reminder and it was never sent to us so I had to call just to see if he was due for a cleaning and he was! When I said I think we're going to look for another dentist she just said "ok." read more

Dr. Jacob Pham has been cleaning my teeth for a couple years now and has done and continues to do a great job! With my recent financial hardships, unemployment and a 4 month old baby, I was hesitant to get my teeth deep cleaned as I knew the bill would amount to a couple hundred dollars even after my insurance had paid the rest. I figured that money would be better used on more important things such as baby formula, diapers, bills, etc. I explained my situation to Dr. Pham and he was willing to work out a payment plan so I could get my teeth cleaned! Dr. Pham is the best dentist EVER! Seriously, I've only joined Yelp so I can give him the review he deserves. I am a nervous dental patient, and he is always kind, calm, and patient with all of my questions and fears. He did an extraction of my partially erupted wisdom tooth, and it was painless and quick! I can't believe I waited so long to get it out! Also, his staff is always friendly and they get you in right away! I've never had to wait more than 2 minutes to be seen by Dr.Pham when I've come in- now that's customer service! Sadly, his office has stopped accepting my insurance, and I have to find a new dentist :( But I highly recommend him and I wish I could keep him as I have plenty of dental work ahead of me :( read more

Dr. Pham is am exceptional and honest dentist. He lets you know exactly what the dental issue is and the most efficient and inexspensive manner to address the issue. Unlike other dentists, he is not out to make matters worse at the cost of the patient. In fact, I had a dental emergency on a Saturday evening and he readily looked at me that Sunday morning. He spent his Sunday morning working on my mouth, which speaks volumes of his professionalism and dedication to his patients. I highly recommend Dr. Pham!! read more

Dr. Pham as a dentist is pretty good, although I think he was a little too gentle on my teeth (at least compared to my last dentist). The issue I have is with the assistant who cleaned my teeth was distracted talking to the receptionist and only cleaned about 65% of the surface area of my teeth. The worst is the receptionist who didn't make sure my insurance carrier was approved by them. At my last and final visit, I had to pay 100% out of pocket for their lack of thoroughness. read more

How could someone possibly give 4 out of 5 stars to a dentist office? How could someone possibly enjoy actually going to see the dentist? Sounds crazy, right? It's the people that make the experience, and I find all who work at Brite Dental to be extremely courteous, professional, and helpful. From the moment you walk into the office, you are greeted by a smile and a warm welcome from the receptionist. I find her to be particularly key to the overall great experience at the dentist. I believe getting things off on the right foot is important, because I don't know about you but when I walk into the dentist's office, I am usually a little worried about how that day is going to go. She is kind, professional, and puts my anxiety at ease. She has also been particularly helpful not just when I am in the office, but when I need to call-in to the office between appointments. My experience with the dental assistants as well as the dentist himself has also been very positive. They are kind, gentle, professional, and have a very soft touch. Also importantly, their prices are consistent with the rest of the market. I did enjoy Dr. Pham very much and was sad to see him go. That said, I find Dr. Chu to be an excellent replacement. My teeth are in very good shape and I am grateful to everyone at Brite Dental for making that possible. read more

Dr Chu is amazing! I was so afraid of going to the dentist due to going through some bad things as a child. Also getting a few terrible dentists that did nothing but hurt me and place filling that didn't stay and fell out. Dr Chu is so caring. He takes time and is so gentle!
