I read these reviews praising this place; I was excited. It did not live up to the hype. Service was fine, menu options were good. The food, however, was quite average. Good quality meat with little seasoning. Flavorless chips. Packaged gravy. Chewy bread pudding. The days of blah British food are gone. First time going to British Open Pub and was pleasantly surprised. Our hostess and waitress were great. We were served promptly and courteously. The food was very good and the prices were very reasonable. We will definitely be returning to this warm friendly restaurant. read more

No waiting for lunch at 12:30. Atmosphere average but nice. Wait staff very friendly and prompt. Had fish and chips. Found the fish to be flavorless. Cocktail sauce had no punch at all and didn't help the fish flavor in the least. Fries were good but no better than anyone else. With coke and tip around $16. Not worth it. I would give it one more try and have something different. Too many great places around here to pay that amount for the lunch I had. read more

Going downhill. We usually wait till after tourist season to go to the local restaurants. Staff was dressed for yardwork. Ordered a burger no onions. ( I am allergic. Waitress comes back and asked again " no onions"? Yes. 2 minutes later out comes the food. First bite. Onion. They scraped the off. Very poor She corrected it. Love coming here for Saturday Brunch. Free scones are DELICIOUS, eggs Benedict are always perfect, and pancakes are amazing.

Walked in around noon, was told to sit anywhere we would like. We waited 7 minutes before getting up and walking out. Several servers walked past us, not one brought us menus or took our drink order. Horrible way to do business. We decided to take our money elsewhere. read more

Golf themed restaurant/pub. Fish and Chips were excellent. Big menu! Older crowd mostly and service wasn't bad. Would return again!

My wife and I stop in a couple times per month mainly Friday or Saturday night, sit at the bar and love it. We stick mostly to traditional British fare and are never disappointed. The bangers and mash are top notch and the fish and chips (usually on special) is plentiful and delicious. The beer selection is good as well as the scotch & whiskey. Perhaps a suggestion would be a rotating new beer from the UK to give me something new to try but I'm happy with my Boddingtons. We came here because almost everyone said the food was great...even the folks that gave bad reviews. "Bad service" seemed to be the theme, which doesn't scare me off of a restaurant. We've had brunch and dinner at the Bluffton British Open Pub many times. The brunch can be good, but often the food was served lukewarm or cold. Service at dinnertime is much better and food has always been served hot and is of good quality. Our favorites are steak and prime rib (prime rib is served only on Wednesday). read more

Liver and onions were burnt. Fish was partially uncooked. Veggies with liver and onions were cold. Ordered a salad without cucumbers, came with cucumbers. Ordered ribeye surf and turf and got a NY strip. Waitress was very unpersonable and rude. Not the typical experience we have here, but there is no consistency. I believe - no I will never - step foot in this restaurant again. Bar service is horrendous and staff working were not the healthiest with the coughing and hacking and lack of customer service. Seems they pick and choose who they choose to serve and speak to. Food has always been good. Service has been sketchy in the past in the bar area and tonight confirmed and was the cherry that finished that location of BOP in my world. Yes they had redecorated and made it more pretty and inviting but the bar staff is tanking your establishment. May need to take a good look at the reviews and make some bar staff changes! We went for Sunday breakfast after church. It was the worst service. Thirty minutes later a server came up. We had ask for scones which came right before our meal. All of meals were wrong but two. The service was the worst. Would not recommend. read more

I happened to stop by the British Open Pub located in Bluffton today for Brunch. Upon entering the Pub I was greeted by the hostess. Very Warm and Welcoming Experience. The bar was packed with people and the restaurant was packed. At first I thought it would be hard to get a table. The hostess assured me they had a table open. She took me to the table. Upon sitting down I was greeted by my waitress. She immediately got me my drinks and was very fast taking my order. I ordered the Tom Watson Steak and Eggs. Served with potato wedges. It was perfect and really hit the spot. The coffee and mimosa's were totally awesome. It does not end there. They also offer scones that are totally awesome. The British Open Pub in Bluffton has certainly made my top list of places for Sunday Brunch. My Waitress Judy originally from Pittsburgh is a true professional and really added to such an amazing experience. I was not rushed at all and my waitress brought me more coffee before I left. I certainly will give this awesome pub Five Stars and it even rates more. A must visit if you are in the Hilton Head, Bluffton, Beaufort, Savannah and Charleston areas. I certainly will be visiting in the near future. Speaking as some one from Ireland and had traveled all over the World this pub certainly meets my high expectations of a Great Pub. read more

Came to the pub for dinner about 4 pm with 2 other couples today. First impression I got was it was alittle dark and the floors needed to be vacuumed. Food around almost every table that was around us. Clearly nobody swept up after lunch, but the tables was set for service. Ok I ordered the bangers and mash, when it arrived the temperature was very hot. The gravy on the mash was very salty and you could tell it was from a packet. My friend ordered the seafood platter. It arrived and it looked amazing, now it stated cod fillets, sea scallops and shrimp. She cut in to the scallops and noticed a very thick and heavy breading on them. The scallops was tiny more like bay scallops, but with the coating they looked like sea scallops. The vegetable medley was green beans with a few carrots and boiled squash on top. Also the mash was very salty. She didn't eat the cod , but my friend ordered the same and the breading was just to heavy and thick. The orange salmon was o.k small portion for $18.00. Wont be coming back to this establishment, sorry the hitter quitter. read more

British Open Pub in Bluffton is a great place to eat and have a drink. The Reuben is absolutely awesome and it's great customer service when the owner stops by to talk about your experience. The one on the Island is awesome also, so regardless of if you are in Bluffton or Hilton Head there is a great place to eat and drink! read more
