While on a bike ride, we rode past the Baltimore Humane Society that I had not known existed. I got home, Googled BHS, and found that they also had volunteer opportunities. *insert smile here* You can complete an application online to volunteer, and they will quickly get back to you with instructions on what to do next. Fast forward, and I'm at BHS for my first training (DogTown1). You'll have to attend various trainings for whichever tasks you would like to volunteer for. Let me also state that their property is VAST. They even have a pool for the dogs to swim in. *insert smile here* After the training, we were given a tour of the facility. Those pets are LOVED! The volunteers really take care of them, from walking to cleaning and just learning the characteristics of each pet; it's an amazing thing to see. We were also notified of five of the dogs who were going home that day. I look forward to the rest of my volunteer experience.

I am writing to alert Dr. Jane Brunt to what happened today at the office. My cat has been a…read morepatient at CHAT for 6 years. In that time, we've had nothing short of perfect service from the vet techs and the vets. They have been wonderful. Very clear. Very transparent. Very kind. My cat has adored them. This time--today-- I met with a senior vet tech (name unknown) and Dr. L about a dental issue. My cat had lost two front fangs. First, the cat was evaluated by senior vet tech name unknown, who weighed her, briefly looked in her mouth, and listened to her heart. Then, Dr. L came in. Dr. L took a thorough look into her mouth and said there was some inflammation; she should get a dental cleaning; and there may be part of a tooth left in one of the fangs that might need removal. He quoted an estimate of about $1500. He said it might take month to get an appointment because they were booked out. He left and senior vet tech came back with an estimate of $2400-$3100 with FOUR extractions. He also told us we could get in the next day. This was whiplash. I asked him go over the bill with me. I could not reconcile the vet citing one possible extraction and a cleaning with the vet tech citing a possible four extractions. He said that I could choose not to follow his recommendations but then, my cat would be in pain. I asked to speak with the vet. Dr. L again. Dr. L came back in with the practice manager, a woman I'd also never met. He said (contrary to what actually happened) that he'd barely looked in my cat's mouth. I asked him to look again and he refused to look into her mouth again because he didn't need to. He said that no one could know how many extractions she would need until she had xrays, which could not happen until she was sedated (understandable). He said that the estimate he gave was just an estimate too. I pointed out that it was a bait and switch. Dr. L and the practice manager protested. Dr. L said sarcastically that from now on he'd lead with the high estimate. I showed them that their files did not indicate any gingivitis in my cat and no one ever mentioned it. They said that is because no one looked thoroughly at her mouth. Huh? They told me several times that we did not have to do the surgery for the cat and I echoed what senior vet tech said, "if I didn't do it, my cat would be in pain." They agreed she would be and said senior vet tech was just being transparent. We went back and forth a few times before the practice manager declared the conversation non-productive and suggested I find a different vet to do the surgery since I clearly "did not trust them." It seems to me these particular individuals are running an office with a message "we only want to help you if you are rich." When I raised the issue of cost, they suggested, I shop around to other vets and perhaps go to the ASPCA because shelters also do dental work. I told them sadly that after six wonderful years with CHAT, I would be leaving to find my cat a new vet. Dr. Brunt, none of this is ok. My cat and I have come to your office yearly for six years and have never been treated with anything other than kindness and care. I am writing because I thought you should know.

This was my first time hiring Bmore Cats and while it's clear many have enjoyed their services…read morebased on the glowing reviews, my experience was different. Ron watched my two cats for a week. I notified Ron by text before I left that my younger cat is very particular about the state of her litter box. If left un-scooped for more than 24 hours, she will likely urinate on the mats just outside the box. She's been taken to the vet multiple times for this issue and its nothing medical or anxiety-related, she is just very high maintenance (who can blame her - if I had to pee in a box everyday, I probably would be too). The week goes by and Ron sends me photos of my cats daily. I do notice, based on the alarm system, that each visit is only 10 minutes, sometimes even less. I was surprised by this since he charges $25 per visit. When I arrived home, the state of the litter boxes was abysmal. Both boxes were full and the mats just outside the boxes were covered in urine. Some spots were fresh and others had dried and been left for a while. Even the hardwood floor in front of the mats was covered in dried urine. I've actually never seen anything like it from my cats. I was horrified to think of my cats walking through their own filth day after day in order to use the litter box. Peeking into the trash can, it's unclear whether Ron cleaned the boxes at all since I didn't see any signs of discarded litter either. Usually the trash bag would be much more full after a week. I asked Ron about the mess. His response was denial, saying that he cleaned the boxes every visit. He also said "I always kept everything clean but didn't know how to clean up around the mats". I found this odd for a couple reasons: 1. If he knew the cat(s) were having accidents, why didn't he mention it to me? 2. If he didn't know how to clean up around the mats, why didn't he ask? There was zero communication on his part that anything was even amiss. Had he stayed longer than 10 minutes at a time, maybe he would've noticed the mess or cared to look under the sink for cleaning supplies and paper towels. The cats were fed and visited twice daily but whatever else occurred during those visits, I'm not sure. I find it hard to believe that the cats got much social interaction or playtime within 10 minutes. With basic responsibilities overlooked and poor communication all for a whopping $300 for the week, I will not be utilizing Bmore Cats in the future and unfortunately, can't recommend it to others.

Ron is the only one I can trust with my giant Maine Coon, Stella. We use whatsapp to connect while I'm out of the country, and Ron sends me a ton of pics to show me how Stella is doing. One time, Stella decides to kill a wasp and Ron stayed back to make sure she doesn't swell up like a balloon. I can't thank him enough for taking such good care of my cat. She also loves getting brushed now thanks to him, so hopefully I'll have less fur floating around the house!

Not well received…read more While Dr. Nesbitt and the tech that took care of my cat appeared to be knowledgeable, during my first and last visit, the same tech accused me of stealing services/attempting to leave without paying. When I asked if I misunderstood the accusation, the response from the front desk was that people do steal and the accusation of potential theft was not because of my race (I am a black woman). I never brought up my race, and previously I did not linked my race to the accusation. I was hoping to speak to leadership about how the situation was handled, but they were too busy to address the issue initially, and offered to call me. They could have called/contacted me if I had actually left without paying as they had all of my contact information. I finally spoke to Dr. Nesbitt once her employee yelled at me, stating that I could just leave and somewhere else (of course I had already paid). Not the best way to start my Friday. But I will find another vet and I suggest you do the same. I spoke with them and this post because people have to do better with their unconscious bias. It steals the joy out of people's day and chips away at humanity, kindness, and the happiness that human interactions can bring. Especially with pet lovers.

Best Vet we've found in Baltimore!…read more To give some background: we used to take our dog Luna, a 1.5 yr Chihuahua that has congenital renal dysplasia and recurring pancreatitis, to Eastern Animal Hospital. Eastern was ok at first, until about a year ago, and are now just a disaster. There are so many Vets that work at that practice it's a different vet every time, there's not much personal empathy expressed by them, not much listening and understanding, no relationship with your pet...they're a machine: get your pet in and get them out. They still take forever, so it's for nothing anyway. Whenever you call for questions you're ALWAYS talking to a technician who doesn't have any background knowledge on your pet and *their history*. We are very thankful for the staff at Eastern, just not quite the right fit for us. We knew about Aardmore because it was geographically the closest vet to our house and we ended up rushing our cat there one day and had a good experience. We decided to start taking Luna there after that because of our bad experiences at Eastern. Wow, what a difference! We have taken Luna twice over the last couple of weeks and already have a great relationship with Dr. Tuckerman. She is wonderful. She is smart, understanding, and a great listener. She always remembers exactly who we are and who Luna is, and understands her unique medical history. We explained the treatment plan we had with Eastern and she already has helped us with some new treatment ideas and suggested a different prescription diet. She put in a prescription for us to have nausea medicine on-hand for when Luna's pancreatitis strikes and that's a lifesaver. This clinic is smaller than others and doesn't many, many vets, so its nice to always be able to see Dr. Tuckerman and be able to reach her. She really does care when she asks for updates on your pet. Alongside Luna's experience at Aardmore, our cat Tenley went in for a mass under his tongue. We worked with Dr. Pineau, and he was also kind and knowledgable and did an excellent job removing the mass. Tenley healed from surgery very quickly and easily and seems much healthier (and thank goodness the mass was benign). We are so glad that Aardmore is here in our community. They really WANT to help our pets and they make sure to take good care of us humans as well. For those of us that LOVE your pets, we are very serious about veterinary care, and we are very happy with Aardmore so far. Thank you Dr. Tuckerman and Dr. Pineau!

I WILL be reporting DR. PINEAU to the state board and I advise everyone who has had this kind of…read morenegative experience to do the same. He should not be allowed to provide any kind of veterinarian services if this is how he chooses to conduct himself. Took my dog in because he was feeling sick and not eating in February. Dr. Pineau (the ONLY doctor who works there) said he had a high white blood cell count and was trying to fight off an infection. Sent us home with antibiotics. As my dog is taking the antibiotics he's still not eating, so I call back about that, Pineau gives me prednisone. I go for a follow up appointment and get another blood test done, and he says my dog is still battling this infection with a high WBC, gives me a different kind of antibiotic and tells me to keep him on the prednisone. All the while my dog's eating has still been low, and at this point he's lost like 10-15lbs. I go for another follow up, but this time my dog's legs are hurting him really bad, like he won't even walk. So Pineau takes him in the back, gives him two pain shots (without consulting me) and comes back and tells me the pain is in his hind legs, and that the shots should help, and that I should give him pain pills for 2 weeks. Two days later I get the blood test results and Pineau says his WBC is good now, my dog should be all better if he just keeps taking the pain pills. The next morning I wake up and my dogs back legs are so weak he can't even walk. I take him to an ER and the ER doc gets my medical records and is SHOCKED by the fact that my dog had been SEVERELY anemic the entire time I was taking him to Dr. Pineau and he NEVER said anything about it. Not only that, the white blood cell count that he was so worried about? Wasn't even in the high range until my 2nd blood test. She scanned my dog's bladder to see if she needed to put in a catheter (because he couldn't stand to pee), and found his spleen was riddled with nodules (presumably tumors), and said that all of these things are signs of a cancer in the blood, and that my dog would have a few months left at best... So I had to put him down ONE DAY after Dr. Pineau said he was perfectly fine. This vet is a disgusting human being who stole the last little bit of time I had with my dog because he lied straight to my face with no remorse. I'm not sure if it was because my dog was a rottweiler, or I was a young black woman who he thought was just too dumb to know any better, or if he just didn't care, or a combination of all three. P.S. To the nice lady at the front desk who always remembered my name and my dog and when our appointments were? You're the best. Please find another place to work because I won't stop until I've gotten justice for my dog and myself.

I had believed EMRVC was wonderful, WOW, I was so wrong, I've come to the realization that it is…read morefar from the truth. Short version - It all began October 8th and Blossom had been limping (left rear paw) and only put her claws down, never the whole foot. Now Blossom can no longer put any weight on her paw so I've been trying to call for three (3) days, my phone will not let the call go through, I can call from anyone else's phone, and the call goes through if I dial *67 410-687-1111 the call goes through. Seriously, they blocked my number. WHY, I can honestly say I haven't called there screaming or cursing, I've been irritated but not nasty. WTF EMRVC is supposed to be Blossom's vet. Still waiting for a return telephone call. The full story - It all began approximately two (2) weeks before October 8th (earliest available appointment). I took Blossom in because she was limping (left rear paw), she was given an anti-inflammatory, and we were sent home. Apparently, Blossom was allergic to the anti-inflammatory because she began itching, and chewing. We bathed and cut her to ensure that she didn't have fleas. She chewed so much on 10/15 that she chewed a hole in her hind quarters and next to her tail. On 10/16, I called EMRVC, left a message and headed to Tractor Supply to purchase a cone. After several phone calls I was able to be seen with Blossom at 4 PM. The doctor said she found it hard to believe Blossom was allergic to the anti-inflammatory but gave her Gabapentin for pain and a anti-biotic to make sure where she had chewed didn't get infected. After a few days off the anti-inflammatory and being given Benadryl the itching and chewing stopped. Hard to believe (yeah right). On October 30th after two (2) weeks on the Gabapentin her limping had gotten worse, not better, I called and asked if someone could look at Blossom's paw on her x-rays to see if someone was imbedded in her paw. The young lady asked me to take a picture of the bottom of her paw and send it to them. Not sure why because you can't see anything but her paw pads and fur, but I did what I was asked. I was called by a member of the staff that evening and told that I had to bring Blossom back in because they could only see paw pads and fur on the picture, no kidding. I told her I had requested that someone look at Blossom's x-rays, that I wasn't surprised that they weren't able to see anything on the picture of the bottom of Blossom's paw, and I didn't understand why I had to send the picture. I also told her I didn't wish to spend any more money when Blossom had only gotten worse, not better. Later that evening I called and left a message that said if they couldn't have someone look at the x-rays to please let me know and I would pick the x-rays up and take them where someone could look at them as I had requested. The next day Dr. F called and said that I could bring Blossom back in, but she recommended an MRI ($2,300 to $5,000). WOW! After spending almost $1000 and having nothing but negative results I didn't wish to put out another $2300 to $5000 needlessly. I purchased Dog Aspirin and Cosequin with hopes that Blossom would get some relief. Thursday, 11/13, more than a month and a half in I decided to call and ask to speak to Dr H whole had helped our Oakley several months ago. To date, four (4) telephone calls and voice messages, no one at EMRVC has had the decency to return a telephone call.

I can't fault him for that, I just prefer him as our pets vet and not getting a different one each time I have to take a pet there. Dr. Zulty was with me both times my elderly dogs passed away. That said here is the review for this visit. I rescued a kitten with my son and a friend from her work. I was immediately drawn to one particular kitten who was covered with black greasy substance and infested with fleas and extremely weak and tiny. He needed someone to just help him and love him like he deserves. After getting him home we immediately bathed him with cat shampoo which killed the fleas and eggs. We got lucky! I called the vets in the morning to ask if I could bring him in to have him checked by the vet & any shots.. I was able to get an appointment that day. Kudos!! I took him into the vets and it wasn't busy so I was called back in less than 5 minutes! Another positive! I'm on a roll with this visit lol. I put the carrier on the metal table and he came out and dead fleas fell off him so they asked if he was given something for fleas. I told them no, just bathed him in lavender mint cat shampoo and it killed all the fleas. They couldn't believe it but confirmed he had no live fleas and they treated him anyway with monthly flea/tick prevention. They took him to the back to do the exam and temp, weight etc. This is the reason for the 4/5. I prefer the vets examine my pet in my presence and do what they need to in the room with me there. Also bc I won't get to see Dr. Zulty. Now the vet came in holding our little guy and said he weighed .4lb, and approx 4-5weeks old. I knew he was young but thought he was probably the runt. The vet I saw was very nice and she explained everything to me and answered my questions about a few things. Overall a good experience. He had an eye infection which went away with prescription drops. She said she would give me a few oral syringes to feed him kitten replacement milk by hand every few hours. The ladies at the front desk are friendly and helpful as well. The only thing that took longer than expected was waiting to pay the bill. I should mention that before they do anything to your pet they will ask you if you are ok with it and the prices. Overall I totally recommend this place for all your pets!
