We took a chance to dine in this place after reading their reviews on Yelp. And we are very happy we did. This place is located in the newish Woodinville downtown area. The Christmas lights here are just beautiful, and very festive. The restaurant is very nice and definitely a higher scale kind of place. My husband ordered their king salmon dish and one type of white wine they offered. And I ordered their king salmon chicken Marsala dish. Both of us liked our dish a lot, and the food quality and flavors were both outstanding. This is probably not an everyday place because the food and wine here are a bit pricy, but I think the quality of food and service can justify the cost. I love taking friends to Brix since they have a little bit of everything! I made a Yelp reservation for a Friday night and had no trouble getting a table for 2. I know larger table sizes do sometimes have a wait, but they usually have bar spots open for walk ins if there are smaller parties. They have a good wine list that features some great picks from nearby spots. On my last visit, I got the prosecco and it was lovely! They also have some cool cocktails. My friend and I ordered a bunch of dishes to share. We got the goat cheese and beet salad, which was fresh and lovely with an abundance of cheese. The small size was plenty to share. We also got the fries, yum! Their shoestring fries are always crispy and great. For mains, we got the mushroom risotto and the cod. I found it a little odd how big the mushrooms were in the risotto since I feel like they are traditionally cut small in dishes like this, but it was creamy and great. The cod was crisp on the bottom and sat atop a flavorful pile of lentils and creamed cauli. So good! Another great find in Woodinville is weekend brunch at the Brix Wine Cafe. There's no line and no wait for delicious food. The veggie and spicy sausage scrambles were tasty and eggs were cooked perfectly. We had the option of a side either an arugula salad or brunch potatoes. Service was friendly and prompt. We go here a lot for weeknight dinners since we live pretty close by. We are on a first name basis with the bartenders and half the wait staff. When they moved from Kirkland to Woodinville years ago we were skeptical. I was not a fan of their food in the old location but they tweaked the menu and it's much better now. The ambiance is great or just OK, depending on where you are sitting. We love the bar area and the fact that we can just walk in almost every night of the week and find a place to sit. Full menu at the bar. The main restaurant area is a little lacking in ambiance. The seats are weird and you sink down on them too far. Sometimes the waitstaff on that side tends to be slow and not very friendly, it depends on who you get. Sitting outside in the summer is a treat. I love that when you can do it. The menu is american bistro type food and isn't the cheapest option in town, but if you order a burger or flatbread and a drink you can get out of there for under $30, especially if it's happy hour. The steak and pastas are always well executed and really nothing is bad on the menu. We've been here dozens of times and can say that maybe twice we didn't like something. They have a great selection of wines from around the world but concentrate on Woodinville wines. They always have a good selection of beer on tap and make some great mixed drinks. The place was full! We got seated in the bar section this time and ended up on one of the high tables. Cocktails: - Calamity Jane - WWCo Rye, Amaro Montenegro, House Made Honey-Anise Syrup, Angostura & Orange Bitters, on ice $17 - my friend liked it. She said it reminded her of Old Fashioned. - Deeper Shade of Grey - WWCo Bourbon, House Made Earl Grey-Sage Syrup, Lemon, Angostura Bitters, Served Up $17 - I got to taste this drink and interestingly enough, this drink reminded me of Old Fashioned and so did my friend who ordered this drink. Appetizers: - Tuna Tartare - Yellowfin Tuna, Avocado, Cucumber, Shallots, Red Chiles, Fresh Herbs, Parsley Horseradish Vigaigrette & Crocattini Crackers $17 - this was a hit at our table! Fresh tuna, nice and light tasty appetizer! It was unanimous that we'd all order this again! - Filet Mignon Steak Bites - Portobello Mushroom, Sweet Onions, Demi Glace, Blue Cheese Crumbles & Fresh Baked Baguette. This dish was good as well. It's a heavier appetizer compared to the Tuna Tartare but if it's shared among 4 people, it's not too heavy. It was very tasty! Entrée: - Roasted Black Cod - this was on their specials. It was a decent size filet of black cod with miso (glaze?) on top of some puree (sorry, it's not on their online menu). It was very good and surprisingly went well with the bottle of red wine we ordered (more on this later). $29 - Chicken Marsala - Pan Seared Airline Chicken Breast, Crimini Mushrooms, Sautéed Spinach, Yukon Gold Mash, Shallots & Marsala Garlic Cream Sauce. I was told the dish was very good (the clean plate was the proof!) $29.50 - Brix Cafe Burger - Waygu Beef Prepared Medium, Aioli, Tomato, Lettuce, Carameized Onion, Thick Cut Bacon, Macrina Bakery Bun & Fries. Selected Beecher's Flagship White Cheddar this time. We tasted this burger with Blue Cheese the last time and hands down, the white cheddar version was much better. It wasn't overpowering so you can taste the meat, bacon, aioli, basically the other ingredients. $22. 2 from our table ordered this and they both liked it very much! We had a bottle of 2015 Reserva Rioja Cone Valdemar $50 - everyone who had it said it went well with their food. Dessert: - Apple Bread Pudding - Whiskey Caramel Sauce, & Vanilla Bean Ice Cream - $11. We came in on Tuesday and it wasn't very busy. We got sat right away and our host was very friendly and welcoming. Our waiter came quickly and took our drink orders. What a lovely addition to the Woodinville Wine Alley area! I finally had a chance to get brunch here on the weekend. I had the crab cake benedict. I literally go here just for the steak bites but I have tried several dishes and they are all fantastic.

My wild salmon was very yummy! My bestie said her Chicken Marsala was delicious too. Kids' burgers seemed nice from what husband said about the bite he tried. Couple of things that could have really turned it around for the five stars: - it was a little weird that when I called to change my reservation from 5 to 6 people (I was having trouble in the Yelp app), I was asked to leave a credit card number because if I were to no show, it would be a $20 PER PERSON charge. I said no to doing that and the person on the phone said I could change it in the Yelp app, to which I replied that I was having trouble. She quickly changed it and then I said thank you, and hung up before being asked for my credit card number again. (It turned out that the 6th person couldn't come after all, and I changed it through the app back to 5.) - bread isn't complimentary - it was $6; juice for kids doesn't come with refills - it was $2.50. I did appreciate that our server warned me about refills not being included. - calamari was accidentally brought to our table - it looked yummy but then quickly taken away. (I feel badly that it was probably thrown away - we would have gladly eaten it if offered!) - it just got SUPER loud as soon as we finished dinner. This might be because all these large groups were bunched together instead of being spaced apart. We were pretty much yelling at each other and while I would have happily stayed for dessert, we just couldn't hear ourselves talking. Parking was fine, just use the nearby garage. Everything on my plate was fine, but the chicken was so dry and flavorless. The chicken tasted and felt like heated up leftovers that had a sprinkle of salt on it before it was heated up in a pan. The gf's chicken was the same and the risotto was undercooked. I read in another review that the food looked great but the quality was subpar. I completely agree. Probably won't be back. The bread was so hard, even after soaking in the broth for 20 minutes it was still hard. I suggest the owner take the chef to LeCoin in Seattle to experience a proper French onion soup. The fillets bits where mostly not meat. You don't cook steak bites already cut into bites. You cook the steak whole and then you cut it into bites. Any sauces need to be surved on the side. Scallops - you always get the scallops and lol yes it's only 2 now instead of 3 but I can't fault them for that prices being what they are but they were perfectly seared and so tasty Calamari - decent calamari a little greasy but they are fried, if your in the mood absolutely go for it Ancho sirloin - the crust on that steak was unreal the gratin was perfect if a little under seasoned and the spinach is always flavorful Chicken Marsala - you know it's good when you keep eating even when you're full. Savory and perfectly done, I have no idea how they get the skin so crispy without overcooking the chicken. I came here to celebrate a birthday with my family and was really impressed by the butternut squash pasta. It was the perfect fall meal. I wish i would have paired it with one of their wines, but i ordered a whiskey cocktail that had cinnamon and apple cider in it. The cocktail was really, really good! Just not the right pairing for a really enjoyable pasta that was super creamy and buttery. Some of my favorites from dinner were the chicken pot pie, and chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream for dessert ! I really enjoyed the ambiance of this place. The bar also looked fun, and I might have to try sitting at the bar with my significant other next time. They also have outside seating with real nice heaters above the patio area. The advertised "crumbles" instead of croutons made the salad dry I had the wagu burger on the gluten free bun. The bacon was good and the tomato was ripe. The review is for the bar-been here a few times at the new location and each time, we order the fries for sure. Thin "sticks" that pack a delightful punch. They usually are sprinkled with truffle but we like that plain with salt and their aioli . The beef bite dish is more like a stew that comes with bread and it really hearty. Wine selection is plenty and the cocktail menu has some common drinks along with some of their own ones. I dig the blood orange margarita (it's a bit sweet and you can tailor it to your taste buds). For the food - we got the seafood sampler and the salmon dip was more like cream than salmon. The calamari batter was too much seasoning but it's almost bitter. The shrimp was nice and big but the dip was neither the typical shrimp sauce nor was it marinara. It was an in between and I did not like that. The steak strip were in some overwhelming sauce that to me ruined the steak. The Cesar salad however was very fresh and big for the $11. The drink was also strong because I felt it and I had only one drink! Visited here with a friend for a happy hour, and we were glad we chose this place because it's very inviting and larger than expected when we went in. The staff were so friendly the whole time, so it made it even more inviting to stay around. The menu is really great, it has a good balance of food items. On this occasion, we opted for their seafood platter, three cheese plate, and their fresh made baguette. It was all served really quickly even though they were busy, but everything was fresh and plentiful. The prawns were fantastic and all the cheeses (which you get to pick), and the salmon dip was so good, my least favorite were probably the crispy fried calamari, but that is a personal thing. My friend opted for an Irish coffee in this brisk weather, and it was served with a coffee carafe which is totally unique, while I had a glass of red wine.
