Simply the best third-wave coffee in Cambridge. Period. This place is on my walk commute to Harvard and I drop in at least once a week. In-house roasted single origin beans -- at least two varieties in rotation at any time. Friendly baristas who know your name and know how to pull a reliably perfect espresso. Bright, open space full of an interesting mix of Harvard types. Laptop crowd is only medium-strong during the week, and is minimal on weekends due to a limited wifi policy. Very strong thumbs-up on their espresso. They also serve drip and iced--I think that's it. When coffee friends visit Boston, I point them to here and to Gracenote. I've sampled the food a few times and it's very good for a café, with a surprisingly good price/quantity ratio given the proximity to Harvard Square. read more

Unlike the pictures suggest on yelp, this cafe NO LONGER SELLS MEALS! You can still by pastries, but there is no food menu like the pictures on google maps suggest. I came to this coffee shop based on a recommendation I received from a facebook group, and while I was disappointed I couldn't get one of their delicious looking lunch items that I saw in the pictures of this location, I still loved my overall experience at Broadstreet. The coffee shop had an open and inviting vibe, and it was nice to see people really taking advantage of it by working out of there (I saw a few people on their laptops, so I imagine they have wifi). The latte I ordered was $5 and was the best latte I've had in my four years living in Boston, the perfect amount of milk, the taste and aromatics of fresh ground coffee beans, beautiful coffee art, and served in these cozy large mugs! I'm a sucker for open space and large windows so the setup of Broadsheet makes me swoon. The menu with middle eastern-inspired dishes is also enticing, but, sadly, the food portions are quite small for the price. The Georgian egg boats look tasty enough that I'll probably try one next time, but the breakfast sandwich is pretty standard and nothing to write home about. The coffee is not cheap either but the quality merits the upcharge, in my opinion. I have always enjoyed cappuccinos, and it's a favorite spot in Camberville to get some work done for a few hours or relax and read. Love this coffee shop, I come here anytime I need a relaxing place to work! It's a great place to spend an afternoon. I usually order the Kyoto Fresco, which is a drink with passion fruit, coconut milk, matcha, green tea, and a mint leaf -- it's a beautiful AND delicious drink. With most coffee places, you're paying about $4-5 for something that is alright. This drink absolutely wows me, and is worth the price. Haven't tried their food, can't comment on that. Would mention that they have a no laptop policy for weekend brunch, so don't come here to work until the afternoon on weekends! read more

What is "Real butterscotch?" Is it hard to make? Is there real butter in it? One thing is for sure, when Broadsheet added it to their "Vanilla Scotch Latte" it made the most amazing, creamy, not-too-sweet coffee with a depth of flavor I've never found anywhere else. This beverage quickly swept my office, but we soon found it was a fleeting indulgence. In what would become our final visit to Broadsheet, an unapologetic barista informed us that the Vanilla Scotch Latte was NEVER coming back. NEVER!? Apparently real butterscotch is too hard to make. Since they're not willing to put in the effort it takes to be special, Broadsheet has become another overpriced Starbucks with the veneer of character. read more

This is my favorite spot for a splurge coffee once a week or a morning meeting. Their coffee is unmatched in the Camberville area, and the space is bright, well lit and clean. Seating is limited but during the summer months it's fabulous to sit outside and people watch. We appreciate the no laptop policy on the weekends, when family comes its been a perk to take them here. The large windows and plants are necessary when the days get gloomy and dark. They have lots of seating; I often see students working or families enjoying brunch together. While their cafe hours have this late-riser bummed they close before dark, this is my new favorite. They also have an array of milk alternatives-- including house made cashew milk. Not sure why the overall low review. I usually come early in the mornings during the weekdays - not many people and the service is pretty fast. I usually get the cappuccino or the cortado and the Georgian eggboat. The cappuccino is really good, doesn't really need anything else. As for the Georgian eggboat - it is right in point. Love the cheesiness and the runiness of the egg. The dough is also really tasty and goes great with the sundries tomato dip that it comes with. read more

This business doesn't seem to value their customers in the least. The website said they were open until 3. I tried to call and double check. They weren't answering. I stopped by and they had closed at noon. A guy came to the door, peered out grumpily, told me they don't have they coffee I wanted. No apologies about the unanswered phone, the early closing. Very expensive for what you get, and execution is inconsistent. I've been really wanting to love this place, because the staff is really friendly and the owner is really passionate about coffee. However, I recently paid $6.50 (before tip) for a 12-ounce cashew milk latte and it arrived lukewarm, about 1/2" short of the top, and there was no latte art. So I'm joking on the latte art, but the problem was the staff was rushing and didn't take the time to make a proper latte. For $6.50, I'd expect it to be the best cashew milk latte in town. Also, the food is good in concept (interesting, tastes good) but very pricey for what you get. I've tried a few things and usually feel hungry, even after paying for add-ons. I'd consider just getting a second dish, but it basically means you're paying $20-25 for breakfast or lunch. For example, overnight OATS are $8.50 - no fresh fruit, housemade cashew milk (very cheap to make BTW), some chia seeds, maple syrup and nuts. I'd add that it's disappointing that they took decaf pour overs off the menu - while I don't expect decaf drip to be available, surely a place that prides itself on curated coffee would offer a non-espresso decaf option? read more

I used to love this place, but over time, many of the baristas have become pretty bitchy. They make customers feel uncomfortable if you ask for any modifications or if you order something they are running low on. The food used to be really good, but now it's either meh or too overdone. Not enjoyable anymore--ironic since the reason people pay $4 for a cup of coffee is to sit somewhere they can enjoy it. Here's the deal: this place has great coffee (though I think the time spent developing specialty drinks like orange creamsicle shrub and orange tonic coffee cocktail is poorly spent). Nicest service staff in the world and the Georgian egg boat (get the zhug) is awesome. Okay, the pastries. When this place opened it served some truly delicious scones. Browned butter (amazing), zaatar and feta (also amazing) and the like. But it's been over a year now, and the cycle of other new flavors are truly ridiculous. If I wanted to eat a scone drizzled with syrupy purple dragon fruit icing, I would microwave a toaster strudel. I likewise have never thought to myself I really want a scone scone right now, I hope they have everything bagel flavor. It's pretty simple. Normal flavors. Maybe plain, chocolate chip, berry, and bring back the browned butter and zaatar. I find the "experimental" pastry flavors quite annoying, seeing as they taste terrible. read more

I USED to go to this place frequently because of their breakfast sandwich. It was delicious, a little pricey, but worth it. The coffee was never great, but I usually ordered some anyways because the breakfast sandwich made up for it. One day I went to get my beloved bacon, egg, roasted red peppers and tapenade on french bread, only to realize they had a changed the sandwich to a microwaved egg patty on a bulky roll - pretty disgusting. The last time I went, will be my last time at Broadsheet ever. I ordered a cold brew and the breakfast sandwich. They forgot about the cold brew and I waited at the counter for 5 minutes until I had to grab someones attention to ask for it. The now off-brand breakfast sandwich than I ordered with bacon, came without bacon. I didn't bother to complain. In addition, we sat next to someone that was being interviewed for a position at Broadsheet. At one point, the interviewer told the interviewee that customers don't care about the amount of calories they get for the price that they're paying. I found this insulting considered that I was still going to be hungry after I finished my meal. Save your money and go literally anywhere else. read more

So I finally tried Broadsheet since I kept hearing about it. And yes everyone was right, the latte was the smoothest and flavorful coffee I've ever had. I lived in Seattle for a few years so I got spoiled and picky about my coffee since Seattle and Portland have outrageously high coffee level standards (assuming you know the right places to go, obviously I'm not talking about Starbucks). Now I know I don't have to go back to the Pacific Northwest for amazing coffee. Some people are saying Broadsheet's price is too expensive, but I was living in LA the last few years and a bag of good coffee easily cost over $20. So I didn't feel that their price is too high. You definitely get what you pay for. I always order latte so I can't really review about anything else, but you won't regret if you order latte from here. They have a very relaxing and trendy feel inside, but it seems like it's always crowded. I'll try their food soon if I can get table one of these days, my friends say it's delicious. I've been here 3 times and 2 of the times had some of the best espresso I've ever had. I'm a home coffee roaster and coffee geek and I was really happy with the level of quality of their espresso shots. Last time I went it was an Ethiopian Natural that tasted like chocolate covered berries. The barista nailed it and it was perfectly extracted, not sour, not bitter, just bright and flavorful.
