Butterfield's Buffet - Crab legs and raw oysters

It's a buffet..I'd argue the best buffet around! Not sure why the the poor reviews. The crab legs…read moreare always delicious and the prime rib is a major home run. Their fried chicken is seasoned and fried perfectly. Desserts are tasty. All around huge selection...they have something for everyone. Service is always great and the restaurant is clean! We really enjoyed our dinner this evening.

I was honestly concerned about trying this place out and skeptical about the quality of food that would be served after reading some of the existing reviews. Unfortunately I feel similarly about what many have already said. They take payment at the entrance and then take you to your table. The server brings and refills your soft drinks/tea/coffee (which are included in the price of the meal), and you grab a new plate each time you want to take a trip up to the buffet area like usual. The restaurant was definitely not occupied by many guests at all and it was during peak lunch hours. The atmosphere wasn't anything to write home about, and in fact a little dark and dim, making it somewhat sad. The buffet area is split into several different stations including salads and cold food items, soup, Asian, Italian, American, BBQ and meats, noodles, and dessert. Most of the areas were manned by an employee who would take your plate and fill it with whatever item you want. This is not a buffet where you help and serve yourself. While there is a decent variety of food offered, the quality of the items were very subpar, reminding me of buffet chains back in the day. The BBQ meats were dry and tough to chew through. The fried fish was overdone and barely flaky. The soups were bland and watery. Grilled and steamed vegetable items were undercooked and not very flavorful. You get the idea. The most memorable items I fairly enjoyed on my plate were mashed potatoes with gravy and fried tofu strips. Oh, and I noticed there were a lot of tiny mosquitos flying around The, especially hovering over the salad area. The dessert bar appeared to have a few sugar-free items good for those who have to be cautious or prefer a zero sugar option, and the regular desserts were A-OK. Cake slices were plated individually, ice cream sundaes are made to order, and cookies are put out so you can take it yourself. The sundae was actually pretty good and I was able to top it off with a few of my favorite things. The service was alright and our server kept our drinks filled and took dirty plates off the table in no time. The gratuity has already been paid with the meal upon entrance, so unless you want to tip more you can. All in all, it is not worth time or money unless you plan to stay at the casino to play for a long time and need something to keep your hunger pangs away, or if you're a member who has earned a free meal.

Unfortunately, our visit became very embarrassing due to how my wife was treated by staff. After being seated, we waited several minutes before our drink order was taken. During dinner, I briefly left for the gaming floor while my wife stayed behind to finish eating. A few minutes later, my wife called me upset because staff members were accusing her of not paying for her meal. When I returned, there were several employees surrounding my wife in front of the entire dining room. The hostess stated she did not recognize me, and the waiter, who had already served us multiple times, initially failed to remember us as well. My wife attempted to show proof of payment on her phone, but it would not load due to network issues. The waiter had also already removed the receipt from our table. After I reminded the waiter of our drink order and details from our service, he finally remembered us and confirmed we had paid. By that point, however, my wife had already been publicly embarrassed while numerous guests watched the situation unfold. We understand mistakes can happen, but the way this situation was handled was extremely unprofessional and humiliating. We hope this matter is addressed so future guests are not treated similarly.

Really enjoyed their prime rib and the variety of desserts they had. Our service was great, attentive and friendly. Ambiance is family friendly and not super loud. A lot of areas to eat but be prepared to wait at least an hr to two for the Thursday crab leg buffet.

That day, my wife wasn't in the mood to eat there, but she accompanied me anyway and had a hot tea while I enjoyed my meal. One thing about me when I go to a buffet--I like to get everything I want in one go, so I don't have to keep getting up. I typically have four to five plates in front of me to avoid interruptions. While getting some egg drop soup, I noticed an elderly woman across from me at the buffet. She was getting wonton soup, and since we were directly opposite each other, I greeted her politely with a "Hi, ma'am" as a sign of respect. She smiled and nodded in return. As I moved to get some steamed fish fillet, I paused because she was also serving herself. What caught my attention was how she used the wrong serving spoon, and instead of taking a small portion, she pinched off pieces of the largest fillet and dropped them into her wonton soup. I found it odd, but it wasn't my business, so I brushed it off. However, what happened next completely ruined my appetite. She reached for a piece of breaded shrimp, dipped it directly into the entire pot of sweet and sour sauce, took a bite, and then--without hesitation--dipped the same shrimp back into the sauce. To make it worse, she walked away, leaving sauce dripping everywhere. I was so disgusted that I immediately informed the owner. She acted promptly, removing the pot of sweet and sour sauce and apologizing. I paid for my meal and left, completely put off by what I had seen. To make matters worse, I later noticed the same woman picking her nose while eating. The entire experience was unsettling. I sincerely wish the restaurant would have someone stationed at the buffet to monitor such behavior. People who are that unhygienic should be removed from the establishment. Let me be clear--I'm not here to badmouth Broadway Buffet. I actually enjoy their food (though, in my opinion, China King is better), and I appreciate having a Chinese buffet nearby without having to drive far. However, this experience left a lasting impression, and I felt compelled to share it with others who dine there.
