I had a very disappointing experience with this acute nursing center. Cleanliness is clearly not a priority here. The facility often felt dirty, with rooms and common areas that didn't appear to be properly maintained. Many lights were out or not were not working. For a healthcare setting--especially an acute care center--this is extremely concerning. Even more troubling is the complete lack of urgency from the staff. When patients need help, responses are slow, and it often feels like concerns are brushed off rather than addressed quickly. In a place where people are recovering and sometimes in serious condition, timely care should be a top priority. Overall, the combination of poor cleanliness and a lack of attentiveness makes this facility feel unsafe and unprofessional. I would strongly encourage management to take these issues seriously and improve both sanitation and responsiveness to patient needs. read more

How would I rate my experience? Let's just say that I ended up requesting for an AMA (against medical advice) form less than 8hrs after being transferred to this SNF from the hospital. The staff that speaks english as their second language needs to be retrained esp the PM shift charge nurse. I would never recommend this facility to any one and including my worse enemy. Although the staff rates 4 stars, it is out dulled by the Terrible food! Burnt toast and uncooked English muffins speaks of uncaring cooks or untrained kitchen staff. When fairly decent prep the servings are very slim. 4 Oz of OK chili fat with beans. Bland food is expected, burnt pork chops are inedible for humans and questionable for canines. read more

My mother is currently a resident here, and although things are not always perfect, the physical/occupational/speech therapists are excellent, both in the rehab they provide and the degree to which they care about trying to improve my mom's experience (especially the speech therapist, Carrie, and the Director of Therapy, Myrna!) In addition, the Director of Nursing, JLo, has been great. When I've had concerns, JLo addressed them promptly and thoroughly, even insisting on refresher training for nurses/CNAs to remind them of proper protocols, which has improved my mom's experience. The infection preventionist, Karly, also went above and beyond in addressing my mother's concerns about whether the Covid vaccine contained gluten (my mom has Celiac disease) by providing printed out information on studies the National Celiac Association had done on the vaccine. One negative is that the day-to-day caregivers aren't always great. It seems like finding enough CNAs who are consistently attentive, thorough, and caring may be a challenge for all SNFs, and that's been frustrating (some at Royal Care are excellent and sweet, but others ignore patients and seem to try to get through their shift while doing as little work as possible). Nevertheless, the leadership at Royal Care is great, and seems to be doing the best they can given the difficulties of running a skilled nursing facility. read more

This facility does not care about their patients well being whatsoever. I witnessed a nurse kick an elderly gentleman's wheelchair out of their way instead of kindly redirecting the confused gentleman. The pictures provided do match the way the facility actually looks like on the inside it's run down and dirty. My own family member was so neglected to the point of becoming unresponsive due to malnutrition and in the need of oxygen and they didn't even bother to contact me to let me know they were put on said oxygen. I had call 911 myself and she was put back in hospital and later on hospice. read more

BY FAR THE WORST AND SOMETHING FISHY IS GOING ON HERE. My dads phone was stolen. It was clearly on the inventory list along with his phone charger. We later come to find out it was taken out of his room by a nurse to charge. If there is a charger listed why is it being removed. He was fully Immobile after a full hip replacement and a huge fall risk so there is NO chance he got up walked around and left it somewhere especially considering the fall that led to his passing occurred on their watch. Either way they have basically made it seem like even if the phone was stolen thrown away or whatever it's not their problem. It's beyond disgusting that it's apparently okay to take sick patients things considering there are no repercussions. read more

88-year-old mother was transferred there from a hospital stay for rehab to get her strength back to return home. There's no accountability at this facility. It took two meetings to get her dietary restrictions clear. t her medication's we're in accurate even though we brought in a list for them to photocopy and put in her chart. she's in a room that has virtually no air-conditioning and it's 90° outside the facility now has Covid from three of their employees going through and you can't get a hold of anybody in that facility to call you the phones ring endlessly or you get a voicemail and they never return your phone calls. do not send you a family member here. We were not really given a choice she was transferred due to the insurance and it's not a good environment read more

My father in law has been here twice now ...the first time the everything was great. . The nurses...the service...the therapy ...everything..that is why when my father in law had another stroke and needed care and attention we chose this place.... he is harder to handle since the last time he was here and I get that it's frustrating sometimes to handle him ...theres just a handful of nurses that does a great job caring for him when family is around and when we arent here we keep hearing how neglectful they are and how mean they are ... For example I have been here for an hour already waiting for someone to come change him ... nothing yet ... he has been in a soiled diaper for more than an hour! My grandmother, at 95, entered into Royal following surgeries for a broken right hip, leg, and arm and a fractured left leg. She was not expected to live but a few more months nor would she ever walk again. Following just a few short months with Royal, not only is my grandmother very much ALIVE, but she is in fact WALKING on her own. Royal's staff to include every employee from the Janitors to the Activities Director have contributed 100 percent to my grandmothers recovery. Not only is she functioning better physically, but she is feeling better mentally, something that she was having difficulty with living at home before here injury. This place was an absolute nightmare. We refer to this facility as the twilight zone. I was admitted there for post surgery with a shattered leg. The first problem was they could not accommodate my bathroom needs. I could not use a bedpan or a side commode a due to the leg. So my husband had to go to Walgreens to purchase a pee container for me. I was there for for over 24 hours before the pharmacy got the meds to them. then they only delivered one of 4. They had my husband bring meds from home which is 100% against the law. My first night there they had no pain meds for me so they gave me Tylenol and some other pill that was not documented in my chart. So my first day there for physical therapy was a waste because of no pain meds. The next day a PT person and OT person came in. The PT person grabbed my knee and was asked if she knew what was wrong with me. she said yes you had knee replacement. Apparently she never read my chart. The next morning I woke up at 5 am and my leg was bleeding. Let them know and finally about 8 a nurse came in with some gauze and scissors. Asked what is she doing....Going to fix the bleed. It states on my paperwork ONLY the surgeon is to do wound care. So we sent her out. My husband asked when the doctor was coming the head nurse said 30 minutes every 30 minutes he asked again with the same response. I had never seen a doctor since I was admitted. By 9 am my husband requested ambulance transfer or 911. The nurse would not due either. At 10 am the nurse was told he either call 911 or us. 911 was called. After figuring out how bad it was there they took me to emergency. Still no doctor. When my husband was getting my home meds back he asked the nurse why he wouldn't call 911. He responded that they get fined $1000 for doing that. So basically I wasn't worth a $1000. They kept my pain meds therefore when I was released from the hospital I could not get anymore. Spent days dealing with them and they could not provide proof of my meds being destroyed and would not help me. spent 4 more days working with multiple medical people trying to help me. Every medical person I have talked to says the place is the absolute worst. PLEASE DO NOT EVER SEND A LOVED ONE THERE. Unless you do not care if they die. sked read more

I highly recommend our facility as a staff and as someone that has 2 love ones that has experienced care in our facility. My 2 family members both went home happy with the care they received from the nursing staffs who work hard to give the best they can for our residents. We are under new leadership of new ED who's friendly and sets a goal to better the facility and New nursing Director who has a lot of experience and very thorough and work tightly with our DSD to give more in services and promote good customer service. We also have all these years the most competitive and compassionate Rehab Therapists that has helped a lot of our patients to get better and go back to their prior living. read more

I'm giving this place a 5 star rating, because they took good care of my mom (Susan Brown) with smiles even though she yelled at them. I went almost everyday to go and see my mom and my caregiver, that I had, went there at different times and it never smelt bad like most places do. My mom had a feeding tube and a catherer, they kept everything clean. All the people from the nurses to the cleaning people were always nice to me as well. if I needed a chair to sit on to visit my mom someone would always get me one, and always saying hi to me. read more

At last days January and first week of February, my family member had a negligent care. I consider that he didn't have correct assistance. He told me that nobody answered his call lights, he was yelling and nobody came to see him, just with the external visits everyone would show up. He was admitted for PTO rehab, however he was ok in all mental abilities. Nine days later, he passed away by neglects. The care provided by the nurses, the assigned doctor (Dr. John Feng), and the administration was very poor. At no time did they show interest in helping him, nor in him last minutes, they came to help him. Do not ever bring your loved one here . read more

Recently had my right knee replaced, and left scoped. Wanted a facility near my home in San Pedro. Fantastic menu, clean (NO ODOR), the entire staff really enjoyed there job, and co-workers. High fives for "-Mariella-", Mr. Brodsky. Vanessa, Marisolx2, Ryanx2, Ericx2, JoyLuLu, Jovita, Leanne, Yessie, LaToya, Blessed, Sheila, Myrna, Rosa, Irmina, Jerry, Michele. Anabel, Cederirc, Fatima, R.C., Nico, Areceli, Jose, Dino, Joy, Placer, Kerry, Geneva, Ronmanual and everyone else had a profound effect, on my recovery.? Dodgers, TNT, and absolutely no drama. My wife and I had been to several nursing homes around the area but can't decide to which one we'll take our Aunt Leoniza until her friend in the building told to check on this Royal Care Skilled Nursing Center and we did. For some reason the moment to enter the facility we feel already that we are on the right place. The lobby was nice and welcoming. We were met by Ms Liz Romero, the Admissions Coordinator, toured us around and answered all the questions with our satisfaction. In general the entire facility is nice and clean without any hospital smell. Our aunt has been in this nursing home for 6 months now and we're happy finding this place. Nurses and nursing assistants are all very professional and helpful. This place is like a home sweet home away from home. I am very sad to say my mother passed away two weeks after leaving Royal Care. If your family member is very ill, please do not leave them here. Nurses did not realize my moms blood pressure dropped so low she became unresponsive. The care my mom received was very substandard and contributed to her untimely death. I feel that had my mother received adequate medical care she might still be alive. While she was there, I could never get a doctor on the telephone and no one seemed to know my mother's state of health. This is a dangerous facility. DO NOT TAKE YOUR LOVED ONES HERE! read more

This place is given five stars out of five by the government watchdogs and for the most part I agree. The staff is very good and they treat the patients well. There was usually someone immediately available at the nurse's station to talk to me or to respond to a request. Sometimes they do get too busy or cause themselves problems like scheduling a staff meeting and not leaving enough employees on the floor to cover for all the people in the meeting. When they are very busy, the call lights go unanswered for quite some time, often 30 minutes or more, and the buzzers that accompany the call lights are very loud and audible in the rooms, making sleep impossible. When my mother was here, a stomach flu made its rounds in the city and some residents in the nursing center became sick too. The staff instituted safety measures: required gloves, masks and gowns to try to prevent the spread of the illness. When there is an illness like this though, the patients are in isolation mode and cannot go to the gym for therapy, so my mother was not able to recover as well as we had expected within the time allotted by insurance. This facility smells good, no urine smell. The food is OK. The patient furniture, such as night stands, is on the worn side. The facility itself is remodeled at the entrance to look modern and inviting but the rooms are standard and the windows old fashioned and uninsulated. There are fans for air circulation. I was not able to determine if the place has air conditioning. There is a special room beautifully upgraded, for those needing to practice living at home, but I never saw anyone using it. When I would go to the nurse's station to check on my mom's progress, I was happy to find doctor notes, nurse's notes, medicine notes, and they even had physical therapy notes available in the chart, which was great because I did not find this to be the case at other places. read more

My wife was at Royal Care , from 5/23/16 to 6/4/16, the care she received was unbelievable. Since she was here for almost 2 weeks , she was checked daily to make sure she would not develope bedsores during her stay , her bed was fitted with an air pad made for this purpose. , also she was dressed appropriately during the day and also at night. She had breakfast lunch and dinner, and a snack every night , her nurses were very good at making sure she got her scheduled medicine , and also pain medicine if needed. We can not say enough of this place. This place is so clean if you look on the wall with all the pictures of the key people you will see An award letter from 2016 , regarding cleanliness , and the executive director Max , is always visible , making sure that this skilled nursing home is being ran the way it should,you will see him interacting with patients, staff and visitors, and will say if you have any issues or concerns to make sure you address them , and they will be handled accordingly Then you have the staff , and nurses ,who make sure that all your medical needs are met while your here I would highly recommend this skilled nursing home, to anyone needing a place like this They encourage you to call or come by for a tour of the facility , and to meet the team of therapists and skilled nursing professionals 5 stars is well deserved The visiting hours are 8 to 8 everyday, and you always feel welcomed just like is says as you enter read more

Awful service from the social worker here!! He needs to get rid of his pretentious attitude because it doesn't fit him. When he experiences the death of a loved one he will sing a different tune. He will be bending forward and back, perhaps jumping through rings of fire, trying to obtain information about his own family member's death. He's an awful person to be dealing with patients and their families especially if their loved one just passed away. I have my education, degrees and a professional, and he should not be speaking to people this way! The director is no better here. Listen to the other one-starred review posted on here. This place is actually very good. There was usually a nurse available immediately when I would approach the station and they were always able to update me correctly about my mother's condition. I received calls at home letting me know how she was doing. When she was admitted they had a care conference and addressed all of my concerns. The information about her food allergies did not make it to the weekend cooks so I had to have her food changed a couple of times but other than that there were no mix ups. They have snacks available at night in case a resident gets hungry. The facility is clean and smells good. The nurses feed the residents who cannot feed themselves, they turn them to different sides, they keep foam pads around the beds of people who might fall. The facility is close to the sidewalk so they have to be careful at night to close the curtains so passersby aren't able to see in. There is very little parking. read more

Very disappointed in this facility. My mom is currently a patient there for wound care treatment. During a visit with her she started coughing and needed her inhaler. The nurses desk could not find key to the medicine room. Apparently someone who holds the key went on a break and took it with them. So there is no backup plan? What happens if a patient needs their medication right away? There was no spare key that they could find. I told the worker at the desk that this is a lawsuit waiting to happen if a patient can't get their meds in a timely manner. No one seemed to care or kept trying to pass the buck to the next person. I was given the name of the director of nursing Andrea Seneriches so when i tried calling her to leave a message the voicemail is set up where you don't have the option to leave a message. So frustrating I ended up driving to my mom's house to pick up her inhaler for her. Not the quality of care that my mother and other patients deserve. Will have to look into transferring her to another facility. I just want an explanation or a clear understanding on what their protocol is when staff can't access patient meds. I was a "short term" in Re-hab for a total replacement recovery and physical therapy. All of my primary concerns were taken into consideration. All *****5***** STARS, from the top, one-on -one with the director, to FINE NURSES, EXCELLENT FOOD, ever tailored with fresh fruit smoothies; Cleanliness was a lifestyle, and pain management and medications were on time and completely documented as communications were excellent between the patients needs and the love and care that was given non-stop. *****TEN STARS *****to the PHYSICAL THERAPY AND RE-HAB DEPARTMENT. Keeping up the moral of the longer term patients was a lot more challenging and difficult; the ACTIVITIES arena, aka, the Main Dining Room was busy with something good. Planning fun, games, and entertainment for a 95th birthday proved to be a blast . My last few days were filled with good new family loving just in time for VALENTINES day.
