I don't usually rate liquor places. Prices are expensive in Manhattan, and the nicer the shop, the higher they go. Not here. Alcohol here is actually reasonably priced! In fact, the prices for the scotches here are probably some of the lowest I've seen on the island. :O Great selection of wine from all regions, as well as whiskey, bourbon, and other liquors too. I really like that they also go as far as providing these really helpful informational cards for all their wines with ratings as well. Definitely coming back here to procure my poisons, and can't believe I didn't try this place earlier! read more

I love Broadway Cellar. I go out of my way (2 blocks haha) to come to this liquor store. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and never leads you astray. You can go in and tell them what notes you like or flavor you are looking for and your price point - they always manage to provide 2-3 options. Is negative stars possible? Rudest staff ever. I ordered online with a delivery date for Monday. Its been over a week and a half and no communication from them. I called repeatedly and was promised and guaranteed different days. This was my second lousy experience with them and I promised myself I wouldn't order again. Shame on me. I will never shop at this place again. Bait and switch - Liars. These people have an online store. I selected a bottle of scotch ($73.99) that happened to come up with an online 10% discount offer. That clinched the deal for me. I ordered it and paid online. When I went to pick it up I learned the order had been declined. (An email that I got after getting home said: "could not process because: Discounted. No profit.") Really? You offer a discount online, then don't honor it? Plenty of other stores nearby. read more

Incredibly rude staff and the inventory is lacking. There are plenty of other wine stores on the UWS. Try those first.

If you enjoy bourbon, scotch, rye - get in and check their options. My buddies and I have a Thursday night Scotch tasting group and they have had several options that we had not seen before, plus they're willing, if you speak to them, to get you what you want, even if it's expensive or rare. They deliver to my building locally and anytime I need something I call up and they'll run me through their wine options. I'm definitely in there more for the scotch and bourbon. If you have questions about their selection, ask for Alex. He does a lot of the tastings with their liquor reps and can usually offer you a true opinion of what he's tried and enjoyed. I barely write a negative review. If you know what you are going to get and very knowledge about wine, that's the place to you. Reasonable price and quality is good . However, if you ever need recommendation or assistance from the store, don't even bother visiting there. The store owner is extremely rude and mean. I was pleasantly surprised when I happened upon this store while perusing the neighborhood. Great variety, though the staff was a bit aloof. Then, I ordered via their app. Big mistake. Two hours and 10 minutes later, I finally called to ask about my $60 order which had been processed on my credit card and the man that answered the phone did not have the order. After doing a bit of digging, he found it. He didn't seem to know that I ordered through the app and blamed it on the app as he had to, "refresh it." Even if that were the truth, he ought to be paying attention to it. Finally, he then told me they didn't have what I ordered and that it was a Christmas item (this is April). If a business is offering delivery service through their own app, monitoring it and updating it is key. On top of everything, he never apologized and behaved as though I was bothering him. I usually wouldn't go out of my way to write a negative review but this wine store deserves it. The only reason I'm giving this store two stars is because its aesthetically pleasing. Nice shelves, good atmosphere, and the manager is nice. The wine selection is terrible unless you want to buy something $25+, and the owner is INCREDIBLY rude, down right mean. He ignored me when I asked for a recommendation, and just said "I'm the owner, ask him" pointing to his 16 year old son. I have been here during the day while I see the son drink on the job, bragging about money, private school, and acting obnoxious to the customers. I kid you not- he took my cell phone from me and PUT IT IN AN ICE BUCKET ONE NIGHT!!! (to prove to me my case was waterproof?! who does that!) The store owner and his son need to learn their manners.
