We're doing lots of errands today, and we passed this brewery like a thousand times, I thought I'd give them a try today. It was getting hot, and a quick pick me up, is what we needed. Pizza! We didn't know, there's a FIFA game going on TV. It's no wonder, the two waitress were super busy! It took a long time for us to get our orders in. I told hubby, "I'm going to the restroom to wash my hands, and if she's not back to take our order, by then, we're leaving!" A lady tried the door to the restroom, and she thought someone was inside. We stood in line, waiting for her to come out. Then, our waitress said something, to turn the handle, it's just stuck (I'm not sure, something like that), so the lady in front of me, tried it harder, and the door opened. I only went there to wash my hands, then, I heard METAL DROPPED on the floor! That's what it sounded like. She was only closing her stall door, but it was so loud, metal to metal, it wasn't closing smoothly, but very noisy, that it startled me! I didn't like using the drying machine, I looked for a paper towel dispenser, there was none. I'm supposed to touch the dirty doorknob, with my clean & drippy hands? I used my skirt, to dry my hands, and the back of my fingers to turn the knob, as I said earlier, it was hard to turned the handle, hurting my knuckle right index finger. I was using the cold water plastic container, that the waitress brought in, so I don't bruise. The pizza we ordered: Mr Toad's Wild Ride, she throw in handmade pub meatballs, was very, very good! I saved one slice for my lunch tomorrow. Our waitress was very helpful! Once again, waiting for our receipt took another long wait, it was crowded, because of the game, I also thought to surprise our oldest son's big 5 - 0 birthday in a few weeks, but after the negatives above, and it can get very noisy . . . Marinara so good... I almost put a straw in it. Something told me this was a place to go to. I originally went to another establishment across the street and I sat down, looked at the menu and got up and walked out. I passed this place on my way to the place. I was originally headed and wanted to come back. It was lunchtime and they had open sitting and I noticed the hockey game was on all the TV screens. There was open seating. The bartender took my order at my table. I decided to get the barbecue chicken calzone and the garlic fries. The barbecue chicken calzone came with pulled chicken cheddar cheese, onions and barbecue sauce. The barbecue sauce was perfect sweet spicy Tan. Everything you want and a great barbecue sauce. I did ask for marinara because there were some sides of the bread on the calzone that I dipped in the pizza sauce.. perfect! I told the bartender what I'd like to drink, and he made some concoction a.k.a. his own version with ginger, beer and whiskey. The calzone was great. The fries were amazing. My beverage was perfect and right on time. Nice hometown feel local sports vibe, the USA Olympic team had just won gold in women's ice hockey. I would advise you do not order to-go food from Broadway Grill. Pizza is notoriously a food that can be enjoyed cold. This pizza was so bad, I questioned whether it would be enjoyable warm. I came to an event hosted at Broadway Grill earlier this year. I enjoyed pizza and salad. I brought some leftovers home and it was totally fine! I don't know what switched. Yesterday I ordered one BBQ chicken pizza, a Mr. Toad's Wild Ride pizza and a Caesar salad. The BBQ chicken pizza was dry and near inedible. The pizza was layered pretty thick with chicken and topped with a cheddar cheese that added no flavor, just a cheese wall to get through before taking a bite. To me, this did not taste like true bbq chicken. It had a kick to it (which I personally don't mind), but I ordered for a group with a child and it had more after-burn than anticipated. It didn't taste like a real BBQ sauce was used. This tasted like a generic chicken that is probably used across multiple dishes on the menu. It definitely could use more sauce on the crust or in the preparation of the chicken itself. The dryness was really hard to get through. The Mr. Toad's Wild Ride held up a bit better. However, the pizza is primarily veggies. The crust was still a bit tough, but the pizza tasted fine enough. I'm writing this review because I'm a notorious "Yelp-before-you-order" person. None of the reviews I read felt negative enough for me to not place an order. I ordered the pizza and salad for a small lunch-time gathering of friends/family. They continued to say how bad the pizza was. I'm honestly irritated that I spent the money on it and that I made such a poor judgement call by ordering it in the first place. I'm going to have to endure more days hearing about the bad pizza I ordered, which is torture enough. I'd advise anyone else just keep this as a true in-person bar food only. read more

Our daughter and I had a nice visit to the Broadway Grill the other evening. We were early for the IMAX movie, featuring Eric Church, so we needed a place to walk to that was close. This was it. Nick was excellent as a server and assisted us in making this a 30 minute trip before the movie. He was quite friendly and engaging. She had a glass of Pinot Gris, and I had a Tanqueray and Tonic. I ordered it with a lemon versus a lime, but it came with a lime. No sweat. We then ordered the onion rings to much on. They were frozen, not house-made, but they were okay. I've only ever been here on the weekends but it's a great place to watch a game and have breakfast. I always get the breakfast burrito. It's massive, delicious, and cheap. Service is always awesome - quick, helpful, and attentive. I had the breakfast burrito, a bloody mary, and a cup of coffee and the tab was $15. Sports bar ambiance with lots of TV's. Just ordered takeout. Wings with dry rub ranch seasoning and a calzone. Got it home and the wings are so coated in the seasoning they are literally inedible. I used like 10 wet paper towels trying to clean the seasoning off of them. It's so salty I still can't eat them even after "cleaning" them. And I love salt. I have been critiqued for over salting the food I cook many times. But this was next level. Husband said his calzone was good so, a reluctant 3 stars I guess. read more

Visiting from out of town we were in search of a quick bite near our Hotel. We found Broadway Grill & Brewery within walking distance. We sat ourselves as the large sign just inside the front door instructed and within moments our server stopped by to check on us and offer drinks. Shortly after we ordered food and it arrived in a timely manner. The Food was hot, fresh and tasty. Food check! Service check! Ambiance, well it's a bar and grill... people are loud. Nothing out of the ordinary, aside from the two guys who were moments away from throwing hands, spewing threats of violence towards one another. As we were leaving a couple of patrons who were eating outside entered the restaurant saying one of the two fellas who couldn't conduct themselves as gentlemen told them, "You should go inside or leave because things are going to get violent". Just a quick lunch time stop. We wanted to go to this brewery for a while since they are a sister restaurant of the old market on 6959 SW MULTNOMAH BLVD. But we never made it since I was just around the corner I jumped in. I ordered just an ice tea and the falafel pita sandwich from the lunch specials. The service was quick I was lucky there was not many customer - the food came quickly. The tzatziki was so good I'll have to order more next time. The pita bread came filled with lettuce tomatoes and cucumber and four falafel balls topped with onions. They also serve it with a hot red sauce both sauces came on the side so you can make it up to your taste. The falafel balls were just a bit to send for me I like them fresh and fluffy. Either they have not been made fresh (doubt that) or just 30 min too long in the fryer. Which is a shame since the taste was good. I would give it an other try on a future visit. Since this was just a lunch break I'll need to base my ruling on this item only so I'll took away one star for the dense falafel. Happy to give more next time when we are back. read more

First off, I don't feel like this place has gotten enough credit on here and I'm surprised!!!! First time for our family of 4 here right before a game at the Moda Center from up North. Everyone was super friendly and we were seated quickly even on a Friday night with a local event. I can't recall our waitresses name, but she was amazing! I will say she was running her tail off tonight and was super friendly and accommodating. The food was amazing and plenty big portions. We defiantly over ordered and took home a lot of leftovers, but I will say the leftovers were eaten before they made it back to the fridge when we got home. All around, super family friendly! I went to Broadway grill for their bingo night. As we sat there we were told we had to order something to sit inside. Okay, I ordered French fries sende neither one of us were hungry...when the bill came there was an additional charge for a soda, we didn't order. She said because I friend brought a soda that that it was the same charge. The bingo has a 14.00 pot with a purchase of $2.00 a card.. even though we won the jackpot, after the mandatory food and beverage charge and the #2.00 a piece but in we actually lost money. The food is okay here, nothing that would leave you wanting to come back and the waitress was rude.. there are better choices just a short walk away. read more

The Broadway Grill & Brewery has become something of a Sullivan's Gultch institution. I know it's probably described as an Irvington place (Irvington is across the street), but it's in the Gultch neighborhood. It's an open, well-lit pub, with ample outdoor seating. During Covid, like lots of places, the constructed some covered, curbside seating, but they've always had picnic tables front and side. They brew their own beer, which isn't particularly noteworthy in my view (especially given how high the bar is for beer in this city) but it's decent. The food though, is better than your average "pub-grub". They offer the typical burgers, sandwiches, and pizza. The best menu items (and my favorite bartender there confirms this) are the calzones and the Ruben sandwich. Both are really solid. They offer a decent personal-sized pizza as well. Finally, I think this place is a hidden gem for breakfast. Every place in Portland is packed for the high-religion of "brunch". This place serves breakfast as well. The breakfast burrito is especially noteworthy. Jam packed, big as your forearme tortilla with Tots INSIDE the burrito. read more

I came for a quick lunch while I was out running errands. It's a come in and seat yourself kind of thing. There was just the bartender, who was initially not too busy, but then got completely slammed - and somehow kept it going. I watched him getting grief from (entitled) customers who expected immediate service without taking a moment to look around to notice he was the only one tending bar and serving, and I was impressed how he just kept going along getting it done. I had a caesar salad with shrimp which was actually as large as the menu said it was, and covered with a good portion of shrimp. Stopped into his place because I walk by it often. I sat at the bar. The bartender was very friendly and let me sample a few local beers before choosing one. Two things I've learned here. If they say it is spicy, heat lovers rejoice! This is not "northwest white bread" spicy, it's legit. The beer made with habanero and jalapeño oil is amazing, and I ordered the blackened chicken breast Caesar salad. While I would have preferred a more anchovy forward Caesar dressing, the chicken was the star of the dish. The blackening mix they use is delicious. The happy hour prices are good as well. Why is it so hard to find an adequate sports bar in metro Portland!? After a failed attempt to go to Claudia's during a Vikings game we had to adjust our plan and ended up here. Beer is uninspired, food is mediocre at best and bordering on inedible at worst (the gravy was basically a salt lick), and service was subpar. I don't need much from a sports bar, but Broadway Pub couldn't even meet my basic standards. After the morning games, the staff had to be harassed to actually put on the games that had been clearly labeled for each TV. And even then a good number of the TVs that had been marked for football games were changed for some reason to NASCAR of all things?! When the food and beer and the service failed, all we wanted was at least a TV to watch the game we wanted to see, and even that was too great of an ask. I wanted this to be a reliable sports bar to get my Sunday football fix, but they failed on all levels and we will not be back. read more
