I came here on a Sat night looking for a wine. I originally picked a bottle of french wine by the look of the label without knowing too much about it because I am no expert on french wine. But in order to make sure my decision was right I had to ask one of the staff on what does he think about the bottle of wine. To my surprise the staff sounded very knowledgeable of the bottle that I picked. So, instead, I asked him to recommend me other wines as well to have more options. He then recommended me two other options. I picked one of the recommendations that he provided me. The description that sold me was: light; transparent, can see to the bottom of the glass by looking from above of the glass; and you will taste some spiciness at the end. And he told me if I got disappointed from the taste, then I should come back and see him again... When I drank the wine, it matched to his description and the wine was very tasty and of great quality. Unfortunately, I forgot the name and the year of the bottle of wine that I bought! : ( But, I don't have to come back to complain to the staff because the recommendation was superb! Overall, I was very pleased of the recommendation that the staff provided me and I will definitely come back to this place in the future for more recommendations! : ) read more

This very well might be the best organized wine and liquor store that I've ever been in. Amazing selection of everything and you can find most of it by yourself. If you can't they are happy to help. I'm guessing they reopened under new management. Clean, clearly sectioned and labeled. Shelves are organized from lower priced items at the bottom with more expensive items at top. this review is long overdue.. i have been dealing with ray the manager of crossroads for many years. he is always friendly and caring about customers. he has always been able to get hard to find wines and for years has always kept an extra case of my favorite wine on hand. Its been in the neighborhood for years and they really do care about their customers. i highly recommend them and their prices are also reasonable and they are always spot on with their recommendations. read more

Even though they advertise that they close at 10pm, they always close earlier. The few times I've managed to catch them still open, they ask me to hurry up (10-15 min before 10) because they have paper work to do. Very bad for business! read more

I think I died and went to Spanish wine heaven. That's literally what it was. An entire shelf, from top to bottom, fully-stocked with Spanish wine, covering a variety of vintages, varietals, and price ranges. Alas, there was only one albarino, but it was a decent bottle. For the Ribera and Rioja aficionado, there are some excellent 2001 selections available. For those looking to splurge, there was a separate display with some $300+ bottles of Rioja and Ribera, all from the late 1990s (which some of the best Riojas in the past 20 years). The customer service was great. It was a bit overwhelming to set foot in a store that was wall-to-wall-to-wall with wines and spirits, but one of the employees directed me towards the Spanish wines. My only complaint (aside from the lack of wines from the Rias Baixas region) is that wines are stored upright, rather than on their sides. Such wonderful wines need a little bit of TLC to be perfect for drinking! read more

I have never purchased wine here, but the selection takes up the bulk of the store area, so I imagine they are ok on that front. Excellent service and very kind, professional people! I ordered via Drizly but didn't realize it had populated to the wrong address. Milton (delivery) was trying to find me in the building and called me - he was so kind and understanding about my mistake. I also spoke to someone at the store and he was equally kind and understanding- you don't always get that in the tough city of NYC, so it was much appreciated. They let me cancel my order, but I was able to call Drizly to leave a tip for Milton for all the trouble he'd gone to. Great service from Drizly as well - I filled out the online form and requested to speak to a representative about leaving a tip and they called me within 2 minutes. Kindness goes a long way and when I'm in their part of the city, I'll definitely order from these guys! read more

Nice selection of both wine and spirits. I liked the local vendor tastings, though I wasn't a fan of one of the Crossroads salesmen pushing a bourbon on me after I'd already tasted and politely though undeniably communicated my dislike for it. Still, many good finds at decent prices here (you have to hunt, though. This place is definitely stocked more for the local clientele who can afford to live in this area and be regulars at this shop). Somethings are prices quite high, even for the area. But this is to be expected when shopping in Chelsea. And they do give you your money's worth in terms of service, general store presentation, and even down to bagging your purchases (proper sleeve protectors vs the cardboard box inserts). But they have a clean store, which is laid out well, with a good variety for all budget types. Definitely check out the selection behind the counter. There are some gems waiting there! read more

Prices aren't bad, good selection and they really help me out when I am in a pinch. Like today... so I have a party to go to tonight - and I want to bring something. Obviously I always like to walk in to a party with a bottle in hand. But what bottle to bring?? I used to have my standby Icardi Cortese L'Aurora but that is hard to get now a days - then there is Laurent Perrier but sometimes it is a bit too pricey for some dinners. (oh - do I sound cheap??? - well.. guess what... I AM!) You have to love a liquor store that is open at 9am! I stopped in on my way to work, looked lost for a few seconds - the manager asked if he could help me. I told him my dilemma, and he recommended a great not totally expensive champagne ($30.00) That is that done. I am ready for this evening. (well - I still have to get my nails done...) Crossroads I love you. Of course you will always come after a trip to Trader Joe's wine shop - (see the above mentioned "I am cheap" statement) But for grown up wine & booze purchases, and when I need advice - Crossroads - You are it! read more

This store had a great selection. Not much space to walk through the cramped crates. But they'd always surprise you with some gems. I passed by last week and they were completely empty and dark. I didn't want to beleive it, but I had passed by after hours a week or so before an noticed that 90 percent of the inventory was missing for the shelves. Now it has been completely empty for weeks with no signage explanation. :( RIP read more

Went to get some things for presents. The two men who worked there absolutely had no idea what they were selling. They did not know difference btw three same brand tequila, i asked for aged he kept showing that it was 40 proof... he had no idea what was the difference. Like no knowledge at all. Despite having never stepped foot into Crossroads, I love them with all my heart! They are one of the few liquor stores that carries a Texas vodka I love (Deep Eddy's) AND will deliver to Harlem. Most stores say delivery within Manhattan but what the mean is everything below 110th (or even 86th in some cases). Free delivery on orders over $100 is such a great service. Plus, when I asked for a special liquor from Portugal, Beirao, they had no trouble ordering it for me. It arrived super fast and they were so great in communicating with me. You don't shop at Crossroads for the decor. This store is cramped and the service can sometimes be a little gruff, but the selection of wines is impressive and the prices are great. Lots of biodynamic and organic choices, as well as hard-to-find Spanish wines. read more

ALERT - new owners or new mgmt has taken over - anyhow it's missing about 3/4 of the original inventory and the prices are now terrible. there are a few stragglers leftover from the glory days but they look like the proverbial fallen soldiers, yet their corks remain intact (from what I can see with just a cursory glance). sigh... all good things must ultimately come to an end. read more

They close annoyingly early, but this is probably the best wine shop in a 10+ block radius. Recommendations and service really depend on who's working, but for the most part I've gotten quite good advice, especially when I don't know what I'm looking for. I am very rarely satisfied with wine shop recommendations (but I still try!) and this is one of the few places where I have actually lucked out. The prices are as low as or lower than almost any store downtown. Despite its cramped quarters, the selection is impressive. Not a whole lot of Australian unfortunately, but lots of Cali and Old World wines. I've found stuff here that I've never seen elsewhere. If it was a little bit closer and open later, this would be my first stop. read more

These people are impossible to get a reply. Several messages left between emails and voicemail; eventually you get a response that seems to be only to shut you up, because they don't follow through with what they advise you they are doing. Once I get the package it is the wrong item than what I ordered. I'll keep it because I don't expect a response from them, and so far days later I am right. Worst service all holiday season. read more
