I typically send toys that I don't mind losing just as a precaution, but they've never lost anything I've sent with my dog and everything comes back neatly packed in his bag. My dog immediately choked up kibble, and within about 30 minutes of getting him back to my hotel, I had to request input from my vet back home and immediately take him to the ER Vet where he had to spend the next almost two days. He had aspiration pneumonia. They of course denied the entire thing and when I went in to view the camera footage they had, they had a clip of the footage that was about 1:30 seconds long that had been cut to not show me going over to my dog where he has choked kibble up. I called immediately when I got to the hotel room, as I didn't want to react immediately due to the emotion involved. They of course have denied everything. I've stayed quiet about this incident for almost a year now because I honestly thought maybe they'd own up to their (maybe) mistake and do what was right and help cover what I had to pay for. I am active duty military and have to travel to Lexington frequently for clinical. I trusted this business with my furchildren and they failed. I just truly hope that next time this happens, the outcome isn't different. Had I waited until the next day to take my pup to the vet, he most likely would not have survived. Within hours he was on oxygen at the ER vet. I've been dealing with their insurance company since January and they will not be covering anything. This is honestly, the outcome that I expected, as both Uptown Hounds and The Hanover Group did not display much professionalism. The worst part is, they won't even refund me the amount of services that I paid for and will never receive for my dogs. I truly hope no one else has to deal with this situation.

I have had several animals vetted there prior to change in ownership and they were wonderful. Even helped me with my semi feral cat who gets bad allergy breakouts. They vetted him by picture and it worked. Otherwise, I have to trap the poor kitty with a coon trap. New vet won't prescribe the medication (saying it's illegal / a steroid) unless he is seen. Won't to do it with pictures even though we've been treating him for years this way (he's indoor for 9 years but still won't be picked up). So the cat gets to suffer OR be mentally anguished by being trapped. I guess the original vet wasn't worried about jail time. He was worried for the animal. Will be taking ALL my animals elsewhere going forward.

We…read morediscovered K9 Safari when searching for a place that we could board our German Shepherd with severe separation anxiety. He was a rescue and standard kennels are a 100% No Go for him. We went and checked out the K9 Safari facility and were impressed with the spaces provided for the dogs to play both inside and outside. Despite the facility being in Richmond, Marlize makes drop off and pick up convenient for clients by offering drop offs right off I75 or at various locations in Lexington. My two Shepherds get excited when they see the doggie bus pull in and they hop right in. That tells me they are happy there and I don't feel bad having to leave them when we go on vacation. She regularly sends pics of the dogs to us via text so we can see how much fun they are having there. I often say our one Shepherd is actually sad when she has to come home because she only has one dog to play with at home vs lots and lots of different dogs there. If you're too lazy to leash your dog for 5 seconds, you're too lazy to own a dog. I also find it hard to believe they had an attitude with you over the time you would arrive to pick up your dog. I work in Georgetown and have, many times, called them to apologize and say that with traffic and the time I get off work, that I wouldn't be there until right at 6pm and they were perfectly fine with that. However, I also chose to give them more than a 15 minutes notice because I'm not rude. ;) I would venture to guess that it's likely your behavior and attitude that resulted in a poor customer experience because I've never once had a single hint of unprofessional-ism from either of the owners. They are near most of the distilleries, so it's convenient to drop them off and start the Bourbon tours. While driving there, I was impressed how beautiful the scenery was around all the horse ranches. I really felt everything was very bougie. Everybody was super nice at bluegrass Pet, Shelly t our dogs were excited, the second day we took them , our dogs couldn't wait to ditch us. Took them three separate days , in the week we were here. The staff was so friendly and of course Shadow was his charming self until it came to the exam lol. They were gentle with him and gave him plenty of treats afterwards . His Doctor was friendly and very enthusiastic about Shadow being in such good shape . He has nice teeth , clean ears, clear lungs . Knowing all of this made me relax more. He got a clean bill of health with the exception that he's FIV positive. Shadow is the only cat in our house and he's strictly a indoor cat. Even with that he can and will live a full life . One of the ladies did agree with me that he looks like he's part Russian Blue. In terms of cost the initial exam was free because we adopted him from LHS . I did pay for some additional testing and I think it was a fair price . Shadow does have pet insurance for those just in case moments hopefully they'll be none of those. Shadow will continue to to there for check ups and future shots .
