Broken Anchor is a Navy Veteran owned winery located conveniently right off of Hwy 41 in Acworth. A wide open, bright space with lots of natural light from the strip mall windows in the front. The space is clean and comfortable but somewhat underwhelming. The wine is made on sight. There is a wide selection of varieties to choose from on top of a full bar featuring crafted cocktails as well as small beer list. None of the wines I had were anything to get too excited about but all definitely drinkable. The cocktails I felt were very well done. This place boasts a very nice whiskey selection making it more of a bar than a winery in my opinion. There is also a full food menu. During our visit we had the bruschetta which was decent. Definitely good enough to entice me to come back and try more of the menu. All of the staff were very helpful and friendly. They all seemed to genuinely enjoy their jobs and happy to be there. Good service always goes a long way in my book. Overall I would give this place a 3.5/5 on my inaugural visit. The wine was just fine but the cocktail program more than makes up for it and I am curious to explore more of the food menu. read more

Come for the different events with food, wine and full bar. I come for the monthly comedy shows. I love that it's local. Seats are not too comfortable but it's just for a few hours. I haven't had a bad experience yet. Definitely recommend for a date night or group of friends coming out. Staff has been wonderful. read more

Made a reservation. Somehow they stopped taking them and we didn't get a table. So we sat at the bar. *4 minutes until greeted. Handed 1 food menu when there are 2 of us...Wrong 5 minutes later a couple comes in and someone that works there asked them if they needed a table and they were seated immediately... Wrong Neat. Still Neat even when bartender repeats the order... Served with an ice cube.* Wrong. No mayo or onions asked when ordered a sandwich.... Came with both. * Wrong The owner was nice and explained their whiskey club. ***My thoughts ***Train your bartenders-train your staff to let them know to write things down or either get a POS system. I believe the reason that the drink was wrong and the sandwich was wrong because she never wrote anything down, it was very crowded. ** Never saw anyone that was a manager ~ so maybe you should purchase one and train your staff to use it if you don't have one. read more

I was here with a meetup group for music bingo. Music bingo was a lot of fun. Everyone plays on their phone and has a chance to win. Don't worry if you don't know the song they show you the name in the app. our waitress was nice but didn't know a lot about the food since she was new. Overall the food was ok. I was disappointed in the egg-rolls. Well really with the sauce they came with.. it was like a consommé... something you can dip a sandwich not egg rolls!! They were a little better with bbq. Also I ordered parm garlic chicken tenders, granted the tenders are huge, but I was surprised they didn't come tossed in the sauce. That did throw me off for a min. The wine was good. I've been here a few times now and didn't even realize I haven't left a review The food and service are hit or miss. They seem to have a really high turnover and it's a small owned shop. When they're busy, your orders can take an hour and 30 mins between drinks The staff is all super friendly but everyone seems new both times I've been here and nobody has any idea about the menu which I think is a training problem. Everyone was very willing to answer questions or to get me answers but it was wild to me neither of our servers could tell me what the shamrock pie special was or if it was in stock before literally going into the kitchen to find out. They also didn't know the pimento balls were out of stock until after we ordered them. They do a ton of fun events and that's why I keep coming back and my husband loves the whiskey selection but the food situation is weird. We got the lasagna and fried pickles this time and I liked both! I do wish the pickles were less salty but they had a great texture which was more important to me The lasagna was good but I don't know if I would call it lasagna. It was a huge bowl of meat sauce with uncooked mozzarella on top and lasagna pasta on the bottom with a little ricotta? I mean, it was good but it was kinda chaotic My friends always get the chicken Caesar wrap and they love that. The shamrock pie was a miss for me. It was served still frozen and that gave it an icy texture that just wasn't pleasant. The server hyped up the brownie/ice cream sundae but we usually try to get something more unique so we went with the shamrock. Maybe we should've got the brownie but tbh I don't really like brownies so maybe not ha. I wanted the bread pudding but that was last week's specialty. I got the strawberry beer mocktail and it's my favorite of their mocktails. I've only been here while pregnant so not sure how the cocktails are but my husband said their whiskey selection is solid! We have been coming here for a few years now, and the other night was just a bad experience. We came here for trivia on a Friday night and there were only 2 servers working. I get it, there are callouts, but the two servers kept going to the same tables and we waited for 30 minutes. No one came. Finally, we decided to walk out. I'm so happy to have a cute little winery close to home! Plenty of parking available outside (shared plaza parking lot). We entered and walked directly up to the bar and the young bartender was super sweet and helpful. He gave us a menu that had everything laid out so well - it made it very easy to choose what to drink! The wine was delicious and wow, the bruschetta was SO good! Can I order one to go? LOL! They had a space full of games to grab and bring to your table or seating area. My husband and I truly enjoyed hanging out, having a drink and playing a game. Stopped in for a drink and a bit of chow on a Saturday evening. Pleasant people and a pretty decent vibe for being in a strip mall. Had a couple of decent drafts, not a great selection but it is a wine bar. Ordered the Margherita flatbread, it was average. Noting great, but not horrible. Mostly just tasted like a big mound of cheese, no nuance. Wife ordered a veggie platter which was pretty good despite some of the cucumber slices being of questionable freshness. We recently hosted a "night before" the wedding party for 100+ guests at the Broken Anchor Winery. A fabulous venue with plenty of room for guests to eat, mix, and mingle. The staff was incredible, the bartenders served beverages very fast and also bussed tables as needed. The food prepared by the chef and kitchen staff was delicious. They took care to meet the needs of our vegetarian and gluten free guests making sure food was not cross contaminated. They even made a small dessert tray with gluten free baked goods, wrapped and labeled. Tiff met with me several times to confirm the menu and beverages and was quick to answer any questions I had. I received many compliments from our guests on the success of our party, the taco bar, wine and beer selections, and the delicious desserts. The cranberry bliss bars were a huge hit! The staff knocked it out of the park, and I would definitely host another event here! read more

Well I've visited Broken Anchor for the third time now since two years ago. This time to have brunch as they have a kitchen now. Menu had a nice selection but no wait staff you order from the bartender at the bar. I ordered the Tex-Mex scramble which is exactly what it looked like. Half like an omelet and half a bunch of veggies in scrambled eggs not very appetizing. Eggs had a grey tone to them. Taste was ok but the consistency was mushy. Very wet barely cooked eggs. I got one tortilla and was grate so I could make small bits and take away from the mushiness. Others ordered other things and they seemed to enjoy it. I'm happy they finally put up some curtains to soften the place and have it more inviting than the cold feel it had originally. Two others did a wine tasting with 5 wines. They loved the wine. If I get invited to another meal there maybe dinner next time I'll go to check it out but wouldn't rush to get there again any time soon. I see they are trying. I'm glad they finally read more

The place is pretty cool. Walk in and seat yourself. It's not a very big place but it's geared toward the entire family. They have plenty to drink there and the prices are reasonable. The food is ok. starting off, atmosphere is really good, as a Navy veteran it felt like a great hangout spot with friends. drinks were awesome and well made. food was not good, it was either extremely bland or over seasoned to the point of not enjoying it. waited on by three different people none of which knew what was going on and when it came time to pay the worst part of this experience. waitress could not figure out cash register and then asked me how much I was paying but still after 7 minutes hadn't told me a total. then put money on sticky bar instead of my open awaiting hand and had to peel money off the bar. was really hoping this could be a local hangout close the house because o enjoyed the music bingo and atmosphere but as far as food and service it killed any chance of trying again. read more

This place COULD be awesome. My wife and I had a date night here and enjoyed the ambiance of the place. On the great side their wine is very reasonably priced, the girls behind the bar are awesome, and the decor is very well done. On the not-so-great side is their food menu. Way over priced 'flat bread's' are super tiny, and taste like they are slightly warmed up in the microwave. The charcuterie plates are pretty decent and fair priced. I have NEVER left a negative review for ANY business but this place does bad business. I booked a party room for a staff Christmas party back in August. I knew someone who worked there so I got the room for free with the understanding that they would get to cater the party. We have ordered over $500 worth of food and I'm sure hundreds more would have been spent on alcohol sales. I was called today (5 days before the party) by the owner and told that he rented the whole space out and we could no longer have our Christmas party there. I am extremely upset and disappointed. I now have to try to find an alternative place to have our staff party before Saturday. Definitely a cute little place to hang out... On this particular night we went on comedy night and it needs a lot of tweaking. There was a lot of hackling from the audience that needed to be nipped in the bud by either the host or the comedians. A lot of talking in the audience which also needed to be curbed.The show was definitely an 18+ show and there were a couple of young adults under 18 in attendance which I'm sure made it awkward for them and their parents, So perhaps announcing that it is an 18+ show would be helpful. No complaints about the wine, food, or service. All was great, great place, and we will be back if one thing gets fixed. THE LIVE MUSIC! It was SO LOUD! We sat as far away from the speakers and our ears were still ringing when we left and even when I woke up the next day. The band was good but very unprofessional. They very obviously had friends and family come see them play but they were up and down from the stage. Standing in front of everyone conversing, doing shout outs as more of their crew walked in, and didn't care about the customers not family/friends with the band. It was treated like their own personal private party they were having. If I came back to see this happen again I would not be be back.
