Being immediately greeted by dogs when I didn't even know dogs were allowed was the best surprise of all. If you couldn't guess by the name, all the tv's had baseball on. I love baseball so this was another pro on my list. On that note, I don't really have any cons to mention. Maybe a bigger selection of beers but even with what they had, there were plenty that I wanted to try that it kept my entertained anyways. We were walking through the ward last night and saw a pop up sign for this brewery and decided to wander over to check it out. So glad we did! The ward has a lot of options for relaxing and drinking but none quite like this. It's downstairs on a lower level which made me feel like I was going into the Bat Cave (pun intended). But don't be fooled - this place is open, airy and the only bats are sport related. Since the only food options are snacks like popcorn they can be dog friendly and sure enough there was a pup hanging out last night. No brew for him. We ordered a sampler with the IPA, double IPA, coffee stout and imperial stout. Sampler rack was cool as you can see in pic. Looks like they've made some upgrades since some earlier reviews. The beers are solid. Nice job nailing the different styles. The IPA was my winner but they were all good. There were ten beers to choose from so I'll have to go back! Love the sports theme and all the brewers bobble heads. And the upgraded digital beer board behind the bar tells me these guys are serious about their products. Smooth and delicious - JUST AWESOME! The atmosphere is EXCPETIONAL, and you are surrounded by baseball and GREAT beer. Check out all the names of their beers on the walls and the baseball art work used to characterize the beers. Definite BIG FLY to the deepest part of the park. I've given them a couple tries. A couple beers I've tried were undrinkable (and I'm generally able to power through most beers). Had an Oktoberfest the last time, thinking that's as safe a choice as you can have, and it was watery. Last time in there, there were lots of fruit flies and the service was about as flat and impersonally bland as you could have. There are so many breweries in Milwaukee, but Broken Bat definitely found their niche to stand out and be different. It's tucked away downstairs so you may not even see it if you walk by. It's pretty small, but you can either sit at the bar and watch any of the baseball games going on, sit at a high top table, or what we did - play free metal tip darts! I was nervous about their beer flavors, but they all ended up being really good. There are a lot of IPAs but I opted for the cherry Hefeweizen, my friend got their Mexican lager, and they have some rotating seasonals. My friend loved it so much, he joined the Broken Bat Mug Club. It's $100/year, you get a wooden baseball bat mug, $5 12 oz pours for all beers anytime, $1 off special bottle releases, a punch card with every 5th mug filled free, and more. I've never seen a beer rewards program before, more places should do this! read more

Fabulous place!! I love that it's dog friendly and just so chill inside. They have a wide variety of beers and even a seltzer. You can also order your drinks on tap, or in cans. The staff was all extremely friendly and provided top notch service. They have many TVs which is great if you're trying to catch a game. It's super spacious inside with many different seating options. This is a great spot to go with a small or large group & bring your pups. Good space, good beer and good people. We ventured into Broken Bat for the first time a few weeks ago after they were the beer sponsor at a charity event we participated in and were pleasantly surprised. The space is a unique underground area down Buffalo and has a subtle and not overwhelming baseball theme. Between our group we tried almost all of the beers and did not have one that disappointed. A particular favorite was the Double Play. They do not serve food but they do allow dogs and seem to be happy to see dogs there. The staff was really nice and after speaking with them for a few minutes we learned the bartenders were the owners. They were happy to talk about all of the different beers and give recommendations. Overall, even with all of the recent brewpubs opening in Milwaukee Broken Bat is a good unique choice. read more

The unique "underground" location of one of Milwaukee's latest breweries is slightly small but very cool! We nabbed spots at the bar and were promptly served by the two owners while none other than the Brewers were on the tv, an obvious choice for a baseball-themed brewery. The best part of the whole theme coming together we're the bowls of in-shell peanuts tossed with a sprinkle of M&Ms - probably a pain in the ass to clean up but so worth it for customers. If I remember correctly, they had been open only a week, though in the planning processes, as many breweries are, for some time. The transition from homebrewing, or brewing on a different system than their current one could be the culprit behind less-than-great beer, but they're headed in the right direction and given time, I have hopes they'll iron the quality issues out and start putting out some tastier brews. read more

Solid little brewery in the old third ward area. It's literally a stones throw from the new Milwaukee Ale House, so you can easily do both in one day, which is what we did. I got the ugly finer, straight chedd, and the corre corre, all good, plus I got a 4pack of the ugly finder to go. It's located in the lower level of the building just FYI when you arrive. Not a super big place, might need to stand, but didn't feel cramped, and we got served pretty quickly at the bar. Solid addition to the Milwaukee brewery scene. read more

I want to love this place. The location is great. It's in a basement, which is cool. But even after a few visits, I'm still firmly in like. It's a good place to meet up with friends after work. Their beer is decent. I've never had a beer I disliked, but then again, I've never had a beer I loved and that's really the bottom line for me. Disclaimer: I love Stout's. In my opinion, a great beer doesn't let light through it. Broken Bat doesn't currently deliver in that arena. They have plenty of beer for those of a lighter beer persuasion. First in for most, I love the "Paws on the Patio" events which are held several times a year. Dogs are welcome, and they are treated extra special. They are a craft beer/seltzer bar/brewery with a lot of character. So many beers to choose from, and the atmosphere is very charming. I highly recommend the "Ricky lager." I really, really wanted to like this place, but it just wasn't happening for me... THE SPACE - I will tell you that it is a cool little space - visually. Here's what's not great about it, it's really small and getting to the bar can be a challenge. The bar area is cramped, so you have to wiggly your way in for service. Patrons handing my beer back to me spilled my drinks...just great. Also, the brewery is underground - the first thing that hit me was the funky smell. Now I know that much of it was from the beer making process, but the fact that they also allow dogs into the small space really makes amplifies said funk to a musky wet dog direction. THE BEER - This is all subjective, but it was really mediocre. I can't say much about this, you either like it or you don't. I just don't. THE SERVICE - It was okay, didn't get much interaction with employees since the bar area was so cramped and no one was waiting tables. I wouldn't make it a point to come back here - there are too many great micros to experience in this town. read more

What a great brewery!! We loved all of the baseball themed beers and decor. The Harry Cherry was such a tasty fruit beer. The staff was great and friendly. It can get filled up really quick in there on a nice weekend, so try to go early! My husband tried a flight of beer and really enjoyed each one of them! It's got a bit of an industrial feel with the brick walls and metal piping. The beers were great and the bartender was a pro. I visited Broken Bat for the first time on 2/11/22. I visit breweries as a hobby. The parking outside is somewhat sparse but I was lucky and caught another patron leaving. The place definitely has the industrial feel with the steel decor', but has some distinctiveness with the baseball theme. It did strike me (no pun intended) as very much like many other craft breweries I've visited with a nice variety but heavy on the trendy IPA's. My bartender was very kind and helped me pick my flight of four. Out of the four breweries I visited on this date, only Broken Bat & MobCraft provided me a free brewery sticker while the other two charged me a buck. I appreciate it more when offered freely. I thought the beers were good. None of them really jumped out as unique, but the pistachio stout was not something I've had before. Overall, I'd consider Broken Bat an essential visit for a brewery crawl in the Walker's Point area. read more

A little hidden gem. They had a little street sign directing us here and it was a great place to grab a beer at the bar and rest after walking all over the third ward in the heat. Was on a random venture from Chicago to Gary Indiana to Milwaukee all in 1 day and thought there'd be no better way to end the day with a few nice pints. Broken bat definitely sufficed for this occasion. Knowledgeable bartenders and a really solid East Coast IPA. I'm from CA and was a bit iffy on their west coast IPA. Hops were a bit off but all the other brews were solid. Cool layout on the ambiance too. I'll be back if I ever get back to good Ol' WAUKEE! read more

Great place that I stumbled across while walking in the area. It was a short visit to the area but I'm glad I saw the sidewalk sign that said "yes we are open".
