My Ribeye was so tuff that my jaw was sore from chewing it. My wife ordered a 48 dollar filet. The filet was quality but it was over cooked and scorched on one side. We complained to our waitress and she never returned to our table. Paid the bar tender $117 bucks and left very disappointed. This was my second "expensive" bad meal at the Bit. used to go to Broken Bit about once per week, no more. While the food is good, but cost for food and drinks is very expensive, they have no competition on the west-side of Palmdale. I was there before Christmas and sat in area that had a large group (10 people) the waitress was busy with them, the waitress handling other booths look at us (3) and kept going, teh manager passed us twice during our 15 minute wait and said nothing. we got up and left. passing the manager and hostess i said it's not working, they said bye. I was going to have my family for my birthday the following week there, but told all, never going there again. They have gotten busy enough to not care about their customers anymore. I didn't mind the cost as long as food, drinks and service was up to the expense. as it is no longer I can't recommend this restaurant anymore. read more

I took the time to read most of the reviews on here for the "Broken Bit" Steakhouse. I wanted to make my own decision and so we went last night. First off i liked the ambiance, its not a quiet steakhouse and is decorated in Country Western theme. I really enjoyed our waitress, a local school teacher making a few extra bucks and she was really on point. I had my drink filled plenty of times even before it was empty, she also explained the "Broken Bit" and where the name came from. I ordered a Ny Strip Steak "medium" cooked, it was a good sized portion and I am a big boy. The steak was delicious, but not mouth watering over it! My sides were excellent I had the Potatoes fingers smothered in cheese and bacon! I also had the Onion Stringers as an appetizer , they had a bit too much garlic for my taste. Over all Service was phenomenal. Prices a bit high for the steak, I know steakhouses are not cheap! Ive been to a couple well known steak houses in La and Ny. Overall Id go back to try other items off the menu, I wanted to try the Honey Chicken!!! Hope this review was helpful read more

My husband and I have been going here since they opened. The food is good, probably the best steakhouse in the AV. However, when my husband and I went in for dinner on his birthday, we spent $170. not including tip on dinner and wine. The staff knew it was his birthday and they gave him, we did not ask for, or order, a birthday dessert. It was a 3" round cake about an inch thick with ice cream, nothing big, I assure you. When we got the bill there was an $8.00 charge for that cake. Mind you, we didn't ask for dessert, and what the wait staff said was "we have a treat for you" Doesn't that sound like it's complementary? It's not the money, it's the point that if I was going to get charged for dessert than, we would have picked something of our choosing. I didn't say anything, because it was my husbands birthday, and I know he hates when I confront management. But If two people are going to drop that kind of money on dinner, then I think they can spare a (worth) $2.00 dessert or at least tell us they are going to charge us for it, so then maybe we can decide on something else or nothing! read more

My wife took me to the Broken Bit Steakhouse for my birthday, and it was a disappointment to both of us. the staff is friendly and restaurant clean, and has a large selection of Whiskey but.... Started with a French Onion soup OK but not much flavor, I had the Rib-eye steak as I know that this is one of the most flavorful cuts of steak, although it was tender there was no flavor in fact the best part of the meal was the baked potato! My wife had the Filet Migon it did have flavor but mainly due to the sauce, as she put it not a great meal, and when you consider we only had 2 drinks (a Duke on the rocks, and a Arnold Palmer) and the bill for 2 was over $100 (not including tip) not a good experience. they did give us a free scoop of ice cream for my birthday but too expensive especially when we have had better. Expected much better for a Steakhouse. Crossing off our restaurant list. Hubby and I went out to dinner tonight and tried out a new restaurant in the AV. There usually isn't a good steakhouse in the AV, in fact if we want a good NY steak, we'd actually go to El Toreo believe it or not and get their carne asada plate. The other choice is Foxy's, but the last couple of times we went there, we weren't impressed. We don't really like the corporate chain restaurants like Black Angus, Claim Jumper, Sizzler, Outback and so on... Well, tonight I'm happy to say that we've finally found a good steakhouse! It is called "The Broken Bit Steakhouse" in Quartz Hill. I have heard about it on Yelp and most of the reviews were pretty good, like some people actually have been there 2 or 3 times already and they have only been open 7 weeks!!! My husband is very, very hard to please when it comes to steaks and so when his 14 oz NY steak dinner came and he took the first bite, he was sold! I on the other hand ordered the 14oz rib eye and the first bite was heavenly! It was so tender it felt like it was melting in my mouth... Hubby got a margarita and that was pretty good too! You can tell if a margarita is not that good or not real easily, if the drink looks kinda clear to you, that means it's too diluted, that wasn't the case with the margarita he got tonight. We will definitely come back to eat here again! Even if it is way on the other side of town - we live on the east side of Lancaster and the Broken Bit is in Quartz Hill, on 50th Street West and Avenue M. We don't mind the distance at all, heck we are happy that the AV finally got a good steakhouse! We would usually have to go down below to Los Angeles and go to Tam O' Shanter in Los Feliz or to Lawry's or even Fogo de Chao in Beverly Hills. read more

Have to say always an incredible experience. I go there at least twice a week and the meals are always amazing! The burger is juicy and full of flavor and they have a whiskey burger on Wednesdays. They also have a great steaks which they're known for of course. They are closed Monday's and I'm not sure why :-/ make sure to make reservations because it gets very packed on the weekends and if you don't, and just walk in, the food and service is worth the wait. Also, try the ice cream and whiskey with caramelized bacon desert, was daring one evening and I decided to order it for a friend and I, and it was incredible. read more

Went here for my anniversary. The atmosphere felt a little between upper scale and a bar. I ordered the filet mignon and my wife the chicken. Both were a bit dry mine was between med well and well though I ordered medium. I sent it back and got another one that was closer to rare but still tasty. The waitress was decent. Over all I would say the food was better that the usual for the antelope valley but not nearly up to the standard I would expect for the price. read more

My husband and I traveled to Palmdale to meet up with our daughter who came to Palmdale on business. A local told our daughter about this place and we are so grateful for the recommendation. The steaks were the best we ever had. We had the Brussels Sprout appetizer and they were excellent too. The service knocked it out of the park. Just to clarify these stars are for this visit only! Ok so after just saying they have the best burger ever I may have to take that back. Tonight I wanted their burger so bad but we didn't feel like going out so I got it to go. It wasn't busy it was only 430 when I called it in. It took me about 5 min to get there and then I Waited an additional 15 min while I was there. When they took my order they specifically asked if I wanted the chipotle mayo and I yes! Well when I got home to eat I found my burger had no mayo and no onions which it usually comes with and non melted cheese. Then to top it off it was absolutely flavorless, dried out yet very pink in the center. It tasted and looked like a frozen patty they tried to cook in a hurry so they burnt and dried out the outside but the inside never got cooked all the way. I can say this was the worst burger I've ever had. I couldn't even eat it. I called and complained and the manager was nice and apologized and gave me a refund and if I had lived closer was willing to run me another one which I appreciated and that's the only reason I'm still giving 3 stars for this visit. However I feel there is no excuse from any chef to have such inconsistency. I'm willing to come back hoping I'll have the same amazing burger I had the first 2 times but if it's anything like tonight's I won't be giving another chance. read more

We were SO surprised by this place. It was a spontaneous dinner and we sat in the bar area. Amber and Orlando are the BEST. The food was amazing. From the bread and warm butter to the drinks and the meals. We have found a GREAT steakhouse in the AV! Very highly recommended! Would recommend including some appetizers that are NOT on the "chain" menus (please). Also, if the owners of the place happen to be in the house, make yourself known. Accidental discovery during a conversation with my niece who used to live in Quartz Hill. We had passed by the building many many times as residents and couldn't seem to figure out what then heck broken bit was. We thought it could be a country bar, etc. But low and behold, she said it was the best steakhouse she had every been to. Even compared to some she has been to in Los Angeles. Being former Angelinos and very unfamiliar of the inconspicuous restaurants, even though I could be considered a lifer, off and on since 87, you would think I would be familiar. Anyway, after a visit one year ago yesterday, we are hooked and make this our special intimate celebration spot. Next visit will be the 20th of this month four our 15th Anniversary. Amazing food. The steaks are outrageously delicious and phew, that Annie Oakley (lemon drop with raspberry), will knock your taste buds off into mixed cocktail heaven. The taste! As you can tell, I cant seem to write a short story about Broken Bit. It is certain steakhouseloooove. ;) Little note: We had typically gone to Morton's in Burbank for our Anniversaries, and let me tell you, Broken Bit by far exceeds their steaks, and ambience, Suggestion: Annie Oakley, Ribeye, House Salad with those crunchy yummy cartelized nuts, the steaks, the steaks and steaks. ;) GO! I brought my wife here for her birthday, the service was good and we did enjoy most of the meal, it is a bit pricey$$$$ My better half ordered a crab leg starter , it was $24.50 and was 1 crab leg cut in half? She also ordered a Filet steak, I had the 14 ounce Ribeye steak (peppercorn encrusted) it was a real tasty steak, I ordered the garlic mushrooms and they were great too, the wedge salad we split for $9 was very small for the price, the problem I had with the meal is they charged us for the desert they brought for my wife (did not ask for it!), I thought that was not typical of any restaurant I have ever eaten at, I guess for the price we paid ($146/without the tip) this was a once in a lifetime visit. read more

I came here for the first time saturday night. We followed some yelp reviews and got there right when they opened and were seated immediately. I liked the ambiance. Wood and lots of pretty lights. Our Server Kim was amazing. She was very helpful and sweet the whole time. We started with the crab cakes and french onion soup. Both were delicious. My mom ordered the pork shank over grits and it was amazing. I ordered the New York strip. and while the meat was great quality I found it to be lacking some flavor. Like another reviewer i also asked for A-1 sauce. I got some fancy scalloped potatoes has my side and they were also good. The kids meals were surprisingly great. The home made ranch is to die for. This place was recommended by my sister so I was excited to be there. Unfortunately my dining experience was ruined by the very unprofessional service I received by server Kim. First of all we did not get bread until after appetizer and salad and that is only after I had to ask for it when Kim brought the bread she said sorry i was running around. No excuse especially when she only had two other tables, a party of 5 and 3. We were only two and were there before the other two. When the meal arrived I ordered a glass of wine. She proceeded to socialize with her other table next to us talking about her baby ect. Finally when I was almost done with my meal she stopped and asked if we were ok. I told her I never got my wine. She very sarcastically replied I don't have that many hands and quickly walked away. She returned with the wine and I asked her: did you just say you didn't have that many hands? She then lied and she said she said was busy. I asked for the manager and was disappointed to hear her defend her by saying she had other tables. Really? It was just a glass of wine and that rude comment?? She comped the appetizer and gave my mom a free dessert but I did not make up for my meal being ruined by the rudeness of the server. The price was to high for the quality it was my first visit. There were 12 of us the bill was $ 600.00 . I don't mind spending money if I feel happy with the end result , the chicken was dry , the mushrooms were so salty and greasy we didn't eat them and the steak was bland , the salad wedge was not crisp or solid and fell apart , the shrimp cocktail had 3 shrimp and a shrimp cocktail glass full of cocktail sauce , the cocktail sauce cost out weighed the cost of the shrimp , it was a Tuesday and I realize restaurants have to have a day where their B team works , but in all it was a disappointing experience. We had dinner a third time last night here. We sat at the bar and were served by manager, Orlando. When our reservation came up, we decided to stay at the bar. Previous times, I had the Flat Iron Steak and the Duck. We started with the Grilled Quail with Cider Adodo served on Cheese Grits, recommended by Orlando. It was delicious. Orlando also recommended the Braised Pork Shank. My previous entrees were all very good. This one, however, was excellent. It literally was folk-tender and a good-sized portion.My partner had the Top Sirloin preceded by a salad. I'm told both were excellent. There is probably not a finer restaurant in the AV than this. There are good ones but few approach the quality of the food and the excellence of the staff. The owner is always around making sure everything flows smoothly. The Broken Bit is, to me, fairly priced for the quality. I look forward to dining here again. read more

The food was amazing, but when the bill comes the experience is tainted. The previous reviewer is right...they nickel and dime you to death. A shot glass size of one of their homemade sauces (except the house sauce) is $5.00. Outrageous! We didn't like the "Nancy" sauce we ordered, sent it back, and got charged for it. The most irritating thing is that they have a list of sides, which you can choose one to go along with your entree. One of the entrees we chose automatically came with mashed potatoes. We asked to exchange it for another side, which they did, but charged us $2.00. If this entree wouldn't have listed mashed, there would have been no charge. We could have chosen any of the sides for free. It felt like a trap. We will go again, because the chefs are great, but like the diners at the table next to us said when presented their bill, "With all these additional charges, we can't come as often as we would like." read more

What a bummer! This is my first less than positive review and it saddens me to have a less than positive review for this place. We had been looking forward to trying the Broken Bit for quite a while, in fact, my husband even texted me earlier in the day to say, 'Happy Broken Bit day'...I really really wanted to like it. I was so excited for a great steakhouse in our neck of the woods but was so let down that I apologized to my friend for taking her there. The decor is adorable, seating comfortable, not too close, basically a nice atmosphere. If only the food and service matched. Our servers were busy but could have had less of 'doing you a favor' attitude. The wait for our food was long, close to 45 minutes, which wouldn't have been horrible if the food measured up. Our medium rare kebobs were very well done, dry and chewy...pork chop was big but lacked flavor, grilled caeser was pretty but lacking. Loved the onion straws and the onion soup but am really sad that those were the highlights of the experience. I don't mind spending money on a good meal, but just not thinking this is the place to do it. read more

I swear this is the best burger I've ever had! I know its a steak house but they said they hand squish there patties and its a mixture of 3 types of beef and I was sold. Then the bun came out and it was a fresh made bun. What?! Oh my god. I don't drink almost ever but I was with my family and my dad insisted that I have at least one drink (we are the Adams family) so I tried this purple pretty little drink and it was incredible! It was blueberry infused vodka. They put vodka in a big jar, crushed blueberries in it, seal it and let it sit for two weeks. I had two!! It was that good! My family and I eat there constantly. Its a little pricey but well worth it! It has become our family meeting spot. The bartender (tall dark haired guy, I forgot his name) is a blast. We love him! And there's a pretty little waitress that is just as sweet as she can be named Kayleigh I believe, she is lightning fast and is always happy to help with what ever my crazy family and I request. I would hate us but she treats like she loves us. lol All of there employees have been wonderful to us. I'm sure I'll see them there soon. read more
