Our second time to this location while we're in town this week. My wife loves the Mug of Thunder and wanted to return here, since the other location on the north end of town didn't have it on tap when we visited there a few days ago. I stated with a glass of the Lostoberfest Marzen, which I had tasted in a flight earlier in the week, and my wife had ordered from the other location at the same time. After that first glass, I went back to the Coconut Porter, which has become my go-to here earlier in the week, as well as on previous visits. Both Broken Compass locations are great spots, and we visit each at least once (if not more) when we're in town. Beertenders are friendly, and there's often a good selection of dogs to pet as well, which helps us cope when ours isn't with us. Drink beer, pet dogs. Words to live by. read more

Great brewery in the town of Breckenridge! This location was sooo close to so many stores and restaurants. Super easy to get to from the parking lots in town and you could take the free trolley to and from the brewery. Service was excellent! Lots of indoor seating and minimal outdoor seating. The outdoor patio was not set up for seating but it was too nice out to not be out there. Beers were delicious and our beer tender was wonderful. Definitely recommend stopping by read more

Broken Compass once located in the outskirts of town, now has a location on Main Street and it's amazing. The team works both locations. It's evident they have a passion for beer and community. They want to invite you into their community and are so welcoming. Shoutout to Claire, she is amazing! They serve up delicious beer. I didn't try the food here (it just seemed to be snacks) - but I did come in alone (around 9pm on a Sunday), and I ordered a flight of 6 to try (for $16). I don't think I disliked any of them - but that porter really stood out. Service - what more can I say? Jake (the bartender) has been living in Breck for over 15 years - but you'd never be able to tell (just by looking at him, anyway) that he's from Long Island (NYC!). The service was awesome - I saw him recommend the double IPA to folks and them loving it - I actually feel kinda sheepish for not asking the bartender what I should get - because I usually do ask for their recommendation! Ambiance - it's a big place, but it's quite quaint and quiet. If you want an intimate conversation, you can have one without feeling uncomfortable. If you want a big table to share a beer with friends, they definitely have that too! Anyway - this is a pretty straightforward recommendation. I will start out by saying that I am a local and my son and I have been coming here with his dog since Covid. It is our favorite place to come once a week and catch up. We love the beer and the local restaurants offering takeout for our beer and lunch. That said, we have been experiencing a gratuitous lack of honoring the leashing your dog policy by the bartenders and their barstool buddies. despite the signs about having all dogs on leash they never are and the dogs can get pretty pushy if you have food at your table. Today our small dog was very intimidated by 2 dogs owned by the bartender and his friend. They were in her business and making her upset. not cool at all. She is always on leash as are all visiting dogs. Please enforce the leash policy on your employees and their bar buddies. read more

This is a great indoor and outdoor brewery. Dogs are also welcome since they do not serve food. They had numerous selections of beer. You walk up to the bar and order. They also have a water station. We had a few IPAs and sours. All really nice. They also have stickers available. They offer free ones and other sets for purchase. My favorite brewery that I visited when I was in town. Lots of tables and lots of beer options. I tried the Mango sour and it was perfect. If you are in need of a place to hang out and wait for your friends to get off the ski hill I highly recommend stopping in here. I've been to this outpost multiple times and the assortment of beers they carry are delicious. During my most recent visit, we popped in for an early afternoon weekday beer. Heck, it was my birthday after all! The place was empty rightfully so, but the staff were über down to party and made us feel at home. They do a great job with hoppy varietals. Their west coast IPA with grapefruit reminds me of one of the flagship beers at a brewery I used to work for back in Florida many moons ago. Hint of fruity with a bitter backbone. New beers I tried on this visit were the coconut porter and peach sour (hell yeah, Palisades!). These were also fantastic. When I came here in 2021 the bar was in the middle of the room. Now they've remodeled and shifted the bar to the back left corner, opening up the space. Either way, it works for this guy. I'm sure Breck loves these cats. Broken Compass makes the best craft beers in Breck, no contest if you ask me. And even if they were in a more densely populated city like Denver, I know people would still flock to them! PS, wait till you see their phone charging stations at the main bar #mindblown. read more

Sad to be writing this as it's one of my favorite breweries in the area. Had a great experience last night at a different location. This review is purely based on customer service, not the beer. Came in after skiing. Ordered a beer. Bartender seemed nice enough, no bad vibes. Sat down, and my wife was feeling a little altitude sickness (she doesn't even drink). She had her eyes closed while sitting up trying to keep from getting more nauseous. We were sitting at a table next to the bar, bar was pretty full. Suddenly bartender surprised us by saying really loudly, "Hey I know your friend's not drunk but she can't sleep here." Caught me off-guard and took a minute to process he was talking to us; kind of felt eyes on us from the surrounding customers. I get they don't want people sleeping due to optics. That's not the problem. It was the way it was delivered that was the issue. He could have politely walked over and said quietly, "Hey I'm sorry, it's not my rule but we can't have people in here looking like they're sleeping.". Just very unnecessary and kind of embarrassing. Not cool. She ended up vomiting in the restroom, which had no soap or paper towels. Was going to get beer to go and buy a shirt but decided not; not that they're hurting for money, but still a lost sale. Won't be back. Maybe the guy just didn't think before he spoke or acted, but having tact in the service industry is kind of important. read more

No wonder why Broken Compass is so popular! I came here with a few friends on a Saturday afternoon in January when it was understandably crowded with snow sport folks... AND their dogs. So many different draft options. I enjoyed the Snow Blind Double IPA, which was tasty. You might get lucky and grab a bench, but I was cramped against one corner of the bar. We did a flight of 6 beers to try. I'm not a crazy beer person but we finished the flight without issue. My favorite was the Fruit Ninja, husband liked the Irish red, and my friend liked the seltzer. Downtown Breck has a new spot to grab great craft beer and enjoy the scene! Albeit pandemic times, Broken Compass did a phenomenal job of making our "night-out" feel as normal as it could. CDC guidelines are clearly followed (contact tracing, masks when not seated, table spacing, etc.)- but the CDC doesn't say anything about jamming music! They had some great tunes cranking and playing, as well as some fun bright lights to add atmosphere. Our beers were all top-notch. Seriously- everyone at the table (all 4 of us, mind you COVID) were thoroughly impressed with the stout, sour, IPA, and double IPA. If you've been to the other Broken Compass location, you know their beers are excellent and they know what they're doing. Only minor downside one guy in our team pointed out was the selection here was a bit smaller than the other; I think they had 8 taps? But it might be growing more shortly! The service was super funny and friendly- loved their jokes and their willingness to let us try different beers. We tried all the hazy IPAs, but found the Jamba to be the sweetest and went with that. I went with the strawberry blonde, which I liked- it's definitely a candy strawberry flavor, rather than a true strawberry flavor, but not too overboard so that it's undrinkable. This is a brewery only and does not serve food. It is self serve from what we experienced so be prepared to wait at the bar and fingers crossed there isn't a lot people sitting at it. The bar itself was heavily decorated with merch and they did have some nice hats. One point that they drive home is that they are dog friendly and when we were there I seen two dogs. If you didn't know it was dog friendly prior to going you would as soon as you opened the door as the smell of dog hits you in the face and does not make the experience enjoyable. I love dogs and personally at one point had 3 living inside my house and my house never smelt like that! read more

The bartenders really know their beers and are able to speak to it with much knowledge. I was served by two different bartenders, Jordan and Michael. I truly enjoyed getting to know them and felt so comfortable talking to them like we were friends! :) This place LOVES people and excels at making people feel that. They speak highly of the work they do and express how much they love working there. If I lived in Breckenridge I'd come here often and would love to work alongside these amazing people. Keep up the great work!! Drink: My favorite is the Mango Passionfruit Sour. I also was granted the opportunity to partake in a few seltzer shots and which was the most unique tasting seltzer that didn't leave a weird flavor in your mouth. It also has a pretty high ABV considering it's a seltzer. Jordan encouraged me to try the Coconut Porter and the Chili Pepper Ale. Both had such unique flavors - o really enjoyed both. Loved this place. Anywhere that allows my dog inside is an immediate 3 stars, but everything else was great too. We went as soon as they opened for brunch. Great place to grab a beer and hangout after a long day of snowboarding/skiing. The bartender was super entertaining and friendly to us. We came on a Friday night so the whole bar was full. Luckily they have an outdoor area where you can drink and wait (with heaters!) until a table opens up. The wait wasn't that bad at all! Beer was good, nothing to complain about.
