Out on the deck! September 2024

Broken Compass once located in the outskirts of town, now has a location on Main Street and it's amazing. The team works both locations. It's evident they have a passion for beer and community. They want to invite you into their community and are so welcoming. Shoutout to Claire, she is amazing! They serve up delicious beer. Their fall coconut porter just might be my favorite beer of all time--absolutely top 3. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating at their Main Street location. It's a super casual spot with boardgames available. You can bring in your own food, if you'd like. It's a great hangout spot with awesome folks behind the bar. September 2024

Brought our dog to Breck & needed a beer. Voila our hopes & wishes were solved. This place has amazing craft beer, the staff is super friendly & the dogs have a blast. Imagine the vibe of a bar full of dog & beer loving people -- flawless!

    The menu is very colourful

I didn't try the food here (it just seemed to be snacks) - but I did come in alone (around 9pm on a Sunday), and I ordered a flight of 6 to try (for $16). I don't think I disliked any of them - but that porter really stood out. Service - what more can I say? Jake (the bartender) has been living in Breck for over 15 years - but you'd never be able to tell (just by looking at him, anyway) that he's from Long Island (NYC!). The service was awesome - I saw him recommend the double IPA to folks and them loving it - I actually feel kinda sheepish for not asking the bartender what I should get - because I usually do ask for their recommendation! Ambiance - it's a big place, but it's quite quaint and quiet. If you want an intimate conversation, you can have one without feeling uncomfortable. If you want a big table to share a beer with friends, they definitely have that too! Anyway - this is a pretty straightforward recommendation. If you're in town - drop by - Jake's a fantastic person to talk to, and fun to be around.

This is a great indoor and outdoor brewery. Dogs are also welcome since they do not serve food. They had numerous selections of beer. You walk up to the bar and order. They also have a water station. We had a few IPAs and sours. All really nice. They also have stickers available. They offer free ones and other sets for purchase. This will be my new go to beer place when I am back in town.

My favorite brewery that I visited when I was in town. Lots of tables and lots of beer options. I tried the Mango sour and it was perfect. If you are in need of a place to hang out and wait for your friends to get off the ski hill I highly recommend stopping in here. The bartender was also very friendly, attentive and chatty with everyone. You could tell he liked what we doing. Go have a beer or two!

Every time I've been in here, the staff makes me feel very welcome. The beer is solid but again the staff is why I keep going back. Very friendly welcoming makes you feel at home.

    Our flight of 6 beers.

Awesome place to go if you like beer and dogs! My husband, best friend, and I took our 4 dogs (which are allowed inside) and were very happy to find 3 other tables with their dogs with them. We did a flight of 6 beers to try. I'm not a crazy beer person but we finished the flight without issue. My favorite was the Fruit Ninja, husband liked the Irish red, and my friend liked the seltzer. Will definitely be going back! The atmosphere was very laid back and who doesn't like seeing tons of dogs??

Chill vibes and chill bartenders. Overall low key but a little bit popping with the music. Excellent beer! We ordered a flight with: Beery Joel (Vienna lager) - light, nicely smooth, crisp, and a little malty Get to the Choppa (black lager) - a little smoky, light, a little bitter Coconut Porter - absolutely delicious, dripping with coconut flavor which compliments thebl porter perfectly Fruit Ninja - the watermelon and strawberry come through, fruity and refreshing Snow Blind (double IPA) - rich and fruity hop flavors with a touch of bitterness, I usually don't like IPAs but enjoyed this one Cranzberry Sour - tart and sweet, well executed fruited sour

Downtown Breck has a new spot to grab great craft beer and enjoy the scene! Albeit pandemic times, Broken Compass did a phenomenal job of making our "night-out" feel as normal as it could. CDC guidelines are clearly followed (contact tracing, masks when not seated, table spacing, etc.)- but the CDC doesn't say anything about jamming music! They had some great tunes cranking and playing, as well as some fun bright lights to add atmosphere. Our beers were all top-notch. Seriously- everyone at the table (all 4 of us, mind you COVID) were thoroughly impressed with the stout, sour, IPA, and double IPA. If you've been to the other Broken Compass location, you know their beers are excellent and they know what they're doing. Only minor downside one guy in our team pointed out was the selection here was a bit smaller than the other; I think they had 8 taps? But it might be growing more shortly! So raise a glass, don your mask, and come celebrate Breck's newest brewery downtown!

Drink beer and pet dogs is a very fitting slogan for this place. Wanting to try some different beers tonight, we had quite the flight: 1 - American Dream Cream Ale 2 - Irish Red 3 - Mexican Lager 4 - Ginger Pale Ale 5 - Fruit Ninja Blonde 8 - Lostoberfest Marzen 10 - Mangy Moose Spruce Tip Pale Ale My two favorites were the Cream Ale and the Marzen. Following the flight, I enjoyed a pint of the Cream Ale. My wife liked the Marzen and the Mangy Moose the best, and she enjoyed two pints of the Marzen. Employees and customers are all very friendly. A definite stop when we're in Breckenridge.

We fell in love with their original location years ago. Their beer is fantastic. The service and atmosphere, though, is what keeps us coming back. The Broken Compass team works at both locations. Claire was our favorite team member but everyone on the team does a great job at inviting you to feel welcome. They're amazing. My favorite beer is their coconut porter. It has a hint of fresh coconut and is a lighter side of porter, not too syrupy. It's well balanced and might I dare say--it's perfect. That said, I haven't had a beer here that I didn't like. They have a great layout at the original location, though you wouldn't think it being in a commercial warehouse. There's a big garage door that opens in the back to outdoor seating. There's this amazing mural in the back of the building. The crowd there all seem to know each other which I am amazed at each time we visit. It's a more local vibe at the original location than the more touristy accessible location on Main Street. The original location has a super cozy vibe, lots of board games (or bring your own). It's a great place to hangout for a few hours. They also have a shuttle that takes patrons back to Main Street. Just call or ask the crew for more details. Again, favorite brewery in Breck. Thanks Claire and team! September 2024

Was greeted promptly upon entering and directed to the bar to place a to go order. I had limited time because had to catch a bus. The ambiance was fun with TV screens around to watch various sporting events. I was watching A&M get beat by Miami while waiting for my food order to be prepared. They have the silver brewery tanks where they brew their beer on site behind the bar area. They had a bunch of unique brews but I am not a beer person. I found a seat at the bar and the bartender came to take my order. I mentioned that I was on a time crunch with having to catch the bus in approximately 35 minutes and just wanted to check to see if the kitchen could accommodate my schedule. I was a bit taken aback when he responded that he couldn't guarantee anything and the electricity could go out.... So I was going to pass on ordering, but then he said we better get my order in then. So I put in an order for fish and chips. Then he said the kitchen should not have a problem accommodating that time window. He brought me some water and I enjoyed watching the football game while I waited for my to-go order. The food was ready in plenty of time for me to make it to the bus stop. It was packed nicely and came in a paper bag. I was able to enjoy it at the bus stop. Fish and Chips with Avalanche Ale battered white fish, fries, tartar. The fish has a nice batter but was a bit bland and could have used more salt or other seasoning. It really needed the tartar sauce to complete the flavor profile. The fries were light and crispy. Overall the food was what I would expect from a brewery. Nice place to go in breck to enjoy beer and food while watching a sporting event.

There were limited things on the menu available, so much so I ended up having a White Russian, Laura had tea, and Ben only ordered 1 beer. One item that we really were looking forward to was their Elk burger but it was no longer on the menu, or at least not at this location. Oddly enough, the table next to us had a father/son come in together and they were also looking for the Elk burger and when they learned it wasn't available, just got up and left. I am going to suggest that if it was a permanent removal that they put it back on the menu. There isn't much parking in their lot, maybe 8-10 spaces so walking from the parking areas is most likely you're only chance as the areas around this brewery are homes. We still like their beers but will try other locations or go back to the Littleton location.

***TREVOR NEEDS A RAISE***…read more I had an awesome experience at Breckenridge Tap House. Right when we walked in the whole place just had a super relaxed vibe. There was no wait at all, which is pretty rare in Breckenridge, especially during ski season. We got seated right away and everything felt easy from the start. It was the kind of place where you can just kick back after a day on the mountain and grab some good food. Our waiter Trevor was an absolute chiller. Seriously one of the most laid-back and friendly servers I've had in a while. He came over right away, brought us waters, and just had a super good attitude the whole time. Instead of rushing through everything like some places do, he actually talked with us and made the whole experience feel way more personal. One thing we really appreciated was how cool he was about the menu. My son wanted to order off the kids menu and Trevor had no issue with it at all. He didn't make it weird or complicated, he just said no problem and took the order. Little things like that go a long way and made the whole meal way smoother. The food also came out really fast and everything we got was solid. Trevor kept checking in at the perfect times and made sure our waters stayed full without being annoying about it. He also talked with us about skiing and the conditions around Breckenridge, which was cool because we had just been out on the mountain. It felt like talking to someone who actually enjoys the town and the people coming through. The best part was honestly after we left. We accidentally forgot something at the table and didn't realize until we were already outside. When we came back, Trevor was literally waiting with it ready to give it back to us. That kind of thing doesn't happen everywhere. Overall the service was great, the food came out fast, and Trevor was an absolute chiller the entire time. I'd definitely come back here again.

We were seated upstairs per our Yelp reservations. A collection of canteens hung on the wall, which sparked a fun conversation and history lesson for my twins. Since they're part of the CamelBak and Stanley cup generation, they hadn't seen anything like them before. My son was impressed by the size of the kids' burger, and the fries were great. The rest of us had the NY Strip. I'd say it was good, but not great--though I did appreciate the blackened seasoning and the chimichurri. The grilled asparagus, however, was simply fantastic. The showstopper was the upside-down apple pie with what seemed to be homemade vanilla ice cream. Both were generous portions and kindly comped by our server for my birthday. I ordered my standard Ranch Water, though it unfortunately didn't come in their traditional canteen cup. Overall, it's a great spot. I look forward to visiting again on our next trip to Colorado.

They have an awesome location with a stunning modern build and plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy the fresh mountain air. It is wild to think that we just visited their sister location in the French Alps during our recent European travels. The fact that they can maintain total excellence across two different continents is unreal. The two spots are completely equal, and the Colorado taproom continues to prove why they are world-class. The beers were spectacular as always. We started out with a couple of pints of their New England-style juice. In the Steep is a masterclass in the style with a beautiful, pillowy mouthfeel and heavy tropical notes. Sun in the Clouds was just as impressive. It delivers those bright citrus flavors without the aggressive hop bitterness. I even noticed Cross Flow on the tap list, which is a fresh, hazy collaboration they just put out with Casey Brewing. Before packing back into the truck, we made sure to grab a new metal tacker to hang up in the garage. We also snagged a four-pack of Lil John Wayne. The can art is easily the funniest label on the shelf, but the actual beer is a solid ten out of ten. To fuel the final stretch of the drive home, we ordered from Bird Craft right inside the brewery. They do not cut corners here. They are frying up full wings, including the drummies and the flippers, and they will toss them in any of their house sauces for an incredible snack. The skin stays remarkably crispy even under a thick coat of sauce, and the meat stays perfectly juicy. It is exactly the kind of savory comfort food you need after a long road trip. My friend ordered a burger that was supposed to come with lettuce, blue cheese, and the works. Instead, it arrived with just chicken and bread. That was it. No toppings at all. The water we were given was also incredibly dirty -- it literally looked grey. Service somehow managed to be both overwhelming and nonexistent.
