First time trying out this sweet chocolate shop. It's small once you go inside but it's filled with a great variety of chocolates. Lady at the counter was very nice. We bought a box of chocolate milk cashew turtles and wow they were amazing. The box was gone in two days- they were so delicious. The turtles were made to perfection. It was the perfect combination of chewy , sweet, nuts and caramel! The chocolate turtle boxes already came prepackaged. At the counter there were other chocolate fruit options available. I thought I had found a great place for chocolates for Valentine's Day for my wife. So I bought pound of assorted chocolates. We had one or two each night and they were good. Until the other night when my wife bit into a dark chocolate covered cashew and found a bug inside the cashew. EEEEWWW!!! So I went back to the store today and first she offered me an exchange or store credit. Really?!??! Why would I ever want anything from this store again? I settled for cash back and the hope that I can tell people to find a better store that does some sort of quality control. Best. Chocolate. Ever. Period. My family has been coming here pretty much since it's opened. I have many fond memories of getting a chocolate Easter bunny from here every year from my Nana and Pops. Even though I am almost 30 and they are into their 80's, the tradition still continues. Not only is the chocolate great but the service is patient and kind. You can get typical chocolates here such and chocolate covered pretzels, chocolate covered nuts, etc... But they also have some fun and creative items. My favorite is chocolate covered potato chips. If you've never had them, you don't know what you've been missing!!! They cover chips, devil dogs and rice crispy treats in their amazing chocolate. Their chocolate is absolutely great. I'm not a chocolate connoisseur, however, their chocolate stands out from anything else I've ever had. Anyone I know that has had their chocolate says it's the best. Their product is 5 stars without a doubt. So why 4 stars? They don't gift wrap and seem to have their way of dealing with customers, regardless of what the customer might want. They're not rude, but not overly accommodating. Its bad enough that we are forced wait in a line, in cramped quarters and thereafter pay a ridiculous "premium" for a commodity product. The three stars is for the prices!!! Sticker shock!! Krauses' and some of the other homemade candy stores are a little less expensive and have the same good quality. I am a Krauses girl because I grew up in upstate NY where they also have many locations. So I often buy my holiday chocholates at the Krauses' on route 20. This store is very small, So when it is a holiday forget it. Wall to wall people. The servers are not smiling or very friendly. I find smiles at Krauses!! Ladies, can you bust out an occasional smile. Last Valentine's I went to the Appollo Flag and gifts to get my candy (from Bromilow's) and the owner was happy and smiling and wonderful. As another reviewer said, they are not rude, but not accommodating or friendly either! As for the candy I think it is on par with the other homemade candy shops in the area. I buy it more for my husband than myself. The one thing that gets 5 *'s is the Robin's Eggs they make for Easter. THE MOST ADDICTIVE LITTLE ROUND BALLS OF PLEASURE!!! I am very picky about chocolate. There are a few that I will go out of my way for, though, and Bromilow chocolate is among that group. I LOVE Bromilow's milk chocolate. The chocolate covered fruits are amazing!! Even more amazing is that I even care about chocolate LOL!!! Customer service is crashing and burning. It has been slowly declining for years. My family has been using Bromilow's for at least 24 years that I know of but I feel like we won't be returning as it is becoming clear the quality of care is going down. My mother stopped over and came about 5 minutes after closing. Her clock was a little behind. The way they responded to her trying to open the door was so unprofessional. They were yelling at her through the door. She just didn't realize the time and didn't expect them to reopen for her, it was just the way they spoke to her. Extremely disrespectful. We drive about 25 minutes to go there, but honestly it's not even worth the drive anymore. Genevieve's in Garfield is amazing and the people who work there don't have a poor attitude towards their customers. A simple, oh sorry we are closed would have been sufficient. I wanted to buy some chocolate for Father's Day this Sunday. I heard this place was good so I decided to see for myself. I bought a DAD chocolate box and a few chocolates for myself to see what all the hype is about. I am so glad I did! I just tried the sea salt caramel and the coconut clusters. OMG! So delicious! I placed an order for a few boxes of gourmet chocolates last Tuesday for a work event the following Monday, $70 worth. I live near by but figured hey let me just save a trip and order online I have a week for it to come. Ordering online was very simple, I felt good about it. Until Saturday came and I still have yet to receive my order, so I emailed, no response. It is now Wednesday two days passed when I needed the chocolate and I have yet to receive them so I called and spoke to a Bonnie? who said it shipped yesterday, I asked does it normally take ONE ENTIRE WEEK TO SHIP, she said no there was a problem with the database? She didn't apologize or even try to make the situation better. Maybe you should contact the customer letting them know there was an issue, or answer an email. I have been enjoying Bromilow's Chocolates for ages. I cannot live without my favorite things. The chocolate covered dried fruit is amazing - did I mention the peaches, orange peel and figs? Their homemade caramels and marshmallows get me everytime, especially the dark salted caramels! And then there's the creamy peanut butter cups - they even roast the nuts - what an experience to visit there when they are roasting nuts - the aroma is heavenly. I cannot imagine an Easter without one of their peanut butter filled bunnies or their peanut butter eggs. The chocolate covered hazelnuts are something that cannot be missed. I'm not a creams kind of gal but my close friend is and she loves their array of flavors that are all handmade, however, I do love their creamy mints - Christmas Eve always require a box of those. Summer brings the chocolate covered fresh fruit and while I love the standard strawberries my favorites are the pineapple and red grapes. My daughters always go for the truffles, my son loves all p.b. and pretzels or potato chips, and my husband loves their pure chocolate "Bromilows" pieces and their famous Butter Crunch.... to die for!
