Who doesn't love chocolate? It wasn't until 1502 that the Europeans embraced the goodness of this yummy treat, when Columbus, on his fourth voyage to the Americas, seized a canoe filled with cocoa beans and brought them to Europe. It was bitter and did not catch on. People couldn't understand why the South American natives loved the stuff. It took about a hundred years until a group of friars added honey to the bitter liquid, making it sweeter and much tastier. With several locations in northern New Jersey, we went to Totowa right off on Union Blvd. Thanks to my partner's sister's recommendation, we arrived at Chocolate House as first-timers to satisfy our sweet tooth. My partner and I were greeted by the staff upon entering this clean and bright interior, who handed us a menu. It featured crêpes, waffles, cheesecakes, pancakes, shakes, and sundaes. We decided on the Strawberry, Banana, and Nutella Crêpe and Brownie Fudge Waffle. The food was exceptional, far superior to any other place we've tried in a long time. The attention to detail in presentation and taste elevates the experience. Seating is limited on a few tables. Price was reasonable, and the service was friendly and quick. We enjoyed our experience and can recommend this place. read more

Amazingly delicious! This place should be illegal it's so good. The menu options are overwhelming. From Crepes, pancakes, waffles, shakes, ice cream, smoothies, cheesecake and decadent Dubai chocolate. The strawberry, banana, Nutella crepe was insanely delicious. The house special crepe with strawberry, banana and Lotus Biscoff was equally as good. It's definitely a bit of a challenge on what to order. The staff is friendly, attentive and very helpful. It's service with a smile in this house. The store is very clean and has several tables and counter stools for inside dining. They recognize military and first responders with a 15% discount with proper ID. This place is a must visit for dessert and chocolate lovers. read more

Very cute spot and very lively! The service was VERY fast and well organized. It truly is chocolate heaven inside. The menu is extensive and they have many create your own options. I'd recommend eating there so that your crepe is hot. We took ours home, but next time we'll be staying! Their crepes are delicious and well stuffed. I just wish the crepe was cooked a BIT longer as it was a little bit too chewy and moist. read more

The tres leches trio was out of this world! They were 3 of us and we were all amazed at how awesome it tasted. I have never had anything like that before. Worth the trip up to Jersey but South Jersey needs one of these. We each ordered something different and then we shared all 3 desserts! I stopped by Chocolate House after seeing numerous social media post about it. I ordered the Lotus Waffle, Strawberry Cheesecake KUP and the Chocolate Layered cake. I was not disappointed. First, they made my items to order and you could tell, the chocolate tasted fresh and much better than the sugary chocolate that other places use. All items looked great presentation-wise and tasted even better. The chocolate layer cake was my favorite. It tasted just as heavenly as it looked and it may actually be dangerous that this is available so close to where I live. The Strawberry KUP was also delicious and the Lotus Waffle was definitely something you won't find at a lot of other places, so it's absolutely worth the try! There is a great flower wall, perfect for IG photos and some seating inside but I got my order to go so I didn't stay but maybe next visit when I have time. Lastly, the customer service at this establishment was top-notch when I visited. The two gentlemen who were working were happy to answer my questions to help me decide what to order. Stumbled across this gem one late night with a sweet tooth. Located in Totowa on a busy street, I didn't have any issues finding parking. The Chocolate House is definitely one of those places you can go to if you're not sure what you're in the mood for- it has something for everyone! From crepes, to ice cream, coffee, espresso, Red Bull mocktails, you name it, this place has you covered. The great thing about this awesome dessert spot is that it's open late... I called before coming around 11:35pm to double check the hours and the person answering the phone was equally as friendly and welcoming as the gentleman that served us when we showed up 10 mins later. Despite all the options, I went with a cone with a scoop of s'more's and topped it off with coffee... both flavors were fresh and delicious. My date ordered a salted caramel milkshake and couldn't stop raving about it. On a recent visit, we tried waffles with ice cream and coffee. The ice cream was good. The coffee has grinds in it. Seating is very limited but we were able to find a seat for 4 people. We asked for Splenda but they only have one type of sugar and it's not Splenda. Thankfully I had one with me. You have to like crazy amounts of sugar to come here.
