Bronx House has very good food, but the costumer service I received on 3/9/18 @ 9:30PM was horrible. I called in to order delivery and the women that answered the phone was immediately rude and impatient. She rushed me off the phone and sent my pizza to the wrong address. Fortunately for me the delivery guy was good so he brought the pizza to me with no attitude. However, the rude woman who I spoke to on the phone called me back to argue with me about the address. The Bronx House is a thumbs up addition to the Springdale section of Stamford. My son and I stopped by today for a late lunch and were stunned by the pleasantry of this well decorated corner sit-in or take-out restaurant. While small in size, the designers did a bang up job in utilizing all the space of what was a closet size deli. Anyway, the food was well above average, the service was prompt and the prices were reasonable. I definitely will be going back! read more

Great well-made pizza with generous toppings. Not the least expensive pie around, but completely worth the price. I've always believed that if you want to judge the quality of a pizza, start with a plain. Just dough, sauce and cheese baked to perfection. BH passed that test perfectly. Next time in, we got the Butcher Shop pie. As you'd imagine, it's their version of a meat lovers pizza. Wow, what a meal! Good but typical appetizers. Don't waste your time. Ordered through Grubhub on a rainy night, 20mins after the order was scheduled to arrive (we gave them extra time because of the weather) we called and were immediately put on hold for 5 minutes. Finally the guy tells us he is really sorry and it was his mistake because he hasn't been paying attention to the Grubhub orders (what?). He was very apologetic and said he would do whatever it takes to make it right and said he could have the order out the door in 12 minutes and would personally delivery the food to us himself to ensure we got it fast. We decided we could wait a little longer and given how apologetic the guy was we figured they would add some free food to show their appreciation for our patience. 20 minutes later we get a call from a delivery guy claiming he is outside, but really he had driven to THE WRONG TOWN! Another 20 minutes later our order finally arrived, not from the apologetic man on the phone, not containing anything extra, and there was no refund applied to my credit card. I should also note that when we have ordered in the past over the phone they have always messed up the order. My boyfriend likes the pizza so he keeps giving them another chance. Before last nights debacle I joked how they were definitely going to screw up the order again, I just never thought it would be at the magnitude that it was. Right around the corner from where I live, so the location is great. I ordered a small pizza with pepperoni, bacon and green peppers, but was delivered a large and charged $23.00. The pizza was good enough, and the gentleman on the phone was pleasant, as was the delivery guy, I was just disappointed in that it wasn't the size I ordered. I'll eventually try some sandwiches and other items, and will update this review, if necessary. **UPDATE on 5/17/2017** I added a star for two reasons, mainly because I really like the Springdale Salad and the Bronx House pizza, and usually order both, albeit just a slice of the latter. Sometimes walk around the corner, and others I have them walk around the corner to deliver. The other reason I added a star is because the owner replied and offered to "make up for it" for the size mix-up on my first order. I thought that was great...I don't feel the need to have him "make up for it"...they've already done so with their great food and service ever since, the delivery guys and guys at the counter are great. read more

I loveeeee this pizza, I am also a HUGE fan of Amore. The dough is amazing the toppings are plentiful and fresh ... the cheese is fantastic. The popeye is my favorite (if you like cheese) , as well as the Bronx House. We went in and ordered and took it home, on the first Friday they were opened, it took no more than 15-20 minutes, and they were still piping hot when we got home. This is definitely more of a quick stop in and out or pick-up as opposed to Amore where I like to dine-in (if you haven't been to Amore its a must, the brunch is so unique). Great pizza. That being said, I've noticed at least two employees touching food/pizza with bare hands. One employee did so right after ringing me up, handing me bills/coins then handled the pizza to put it in the oven WITHOUT using gloves/food paper to handle the food. Pretty gross in my opinion. I ordered from here since I wanted to try something different and the pizza wasn't bad but I was not "wow-ed". I placed an order for delivery and it arrived an hour past expected delivery time. I looked at a few reviews before ordering so I was prepared for my food to not arrive on time but yikes! I order delivery at least once a week from a number of restaurants and they are always early or on time, never an hour late. When the pizza finally arrived, the driver was super apologetic but maybe management needs to hire more drivers. Not sure what took so long but in order to compete here in Stamford your delivery times have got to be better. I also wasn't sure the pizza was worth the $19/pie price. If the ingredients are organic or the cheese/sauce is imported, let us know! Overall, I enjoyed my pizza and while it arrived late, atleast it wasn't cold. Superior pizza, excellent portion size for entrees and fair prices. I don't typically order entrees from take out pizza restaurants, but since one of the owners also owns Amore in Springdale, I knew that the entrees wouldn't disappoint. Try the Amore chicken, it's so good! read more

LOVE this around the way spot!!!! It's no frills, GREAT NY style pizza! The crust is so fresh and fluffy that I have at times broken it off and put butter on it like fresh baked bread!!! They also have slices which is great for the kids after school. read more

I think by this point everyone knows how great the pizza is here but more people need to know about the rolls. It makes sense considering how many awards this guy has won for his dough. The rolls are extraordinary, and anyone who walks out without trying one (I recommend the Bronx Roll or the Pinwheel) is doing themselves a disservice. read more

Food is ok but it is VERY expensive. A specialty slice and a soda is almost $10!! I honestly don't think that price is justifiable. Tried the calzone the other day. It was ok but for the price I was expecting a lot more filling. It was mostly dough. Pretty disappointed. So, I will preface this by saying that we are Pepe's people. The only pizza I've had that comes close is John's on Bleeker. Now, I'll admit I haven't been to Brooklyn, but have tried all the standard Manhattan places, and all the New Haven places. Not a Sally's fan, but Modern is great, but I've found it to be inconsistent. Ok, with that disclaimer out of the way, I will say that there is a place for the neighborhood pizza place. Pepe's is pricey for sure, and not close enough for just running out and grabbing a pie when you burn dinner (which I do occasionally, although less and less lately). We are closer to Belltown Pizza, which, for this quick grab style pie, is definitely better. Thinner, less doughy crust without being that cracker garbage that passes for crust at Colony or Ricos. Now, I know this may be blasphemy for many Stamford peoples, but I'm sorry, Colony style pizza to really not very good. Pizza is about the crust first. Should chewy and crunchy at the same time. Again, Pepe's is the model. It comes down to 3 things: 1) resting the dough at least 24 hours in cool environment to let the yeast do it's job 2) HOT oven... 850F+ minimum (and not from the bottom like a grill. You need all around heat otherwise you get burned crust, trust me....) and 3) low oxygen environment. Brick ovens accomplish this by controlling air flow, letting the fire burn the O2 down. So, to Bronx house.... yikes. Undercooked pizza sauce and toppings on fluffy bread "crust". I knew things we're gonna go sideways when I got there to pick up the first (and only) time we ordered. We tried it on a test. We were out late, didn't have any leftovers and didn't have time to cook from scratch like we usually do. So, we decided (sorry Belltown Pizza) to try Bronx house. We had a rec from someone we thought knew food (although another rec from him, also for a dough based food, fell flat...). I called in our pie an was told 20-30 min. I got there in 20. The pie was just going in (the standard off the shelf, restaurant supply pizza oven). I pointed out my order and asked how long. The guy said said 5 to 6 mins! That is not enough time. I take out from Pepe's about 2x a month. I don't call ahead. I order take out once I'm there and I sit and drink a beer while I wait. I see them make the pie and watch it go in the oven. Pepe's custom brick oven is about 900F. And it takes about 5 min. I make my own pies on the grill, and although my grill gets to 750F, I can't cook pizza at that heat because the heat from the bottom burns the crust. I have to cook at around 450F and it takes about 12-15 min. I asked the Bronx house 'chef' how hot the oven is. He said 550F. Oh boy. 5 min at 550 is going to leave me with raw dough. Yup, that's what I got. Under cooked fluffy pie with no redeeming qualities. Sorry guys. There is just nothing special here. Work on the crust first. We'll tackle toppings another time. And get a real pizza oven, or at least monkey around with the one you have to crank the heat, drop the O2, and maybe... For everyone else, if you have another quick local spot, like we have in Belltown, just stick with that. These new comers have some serious work to do yet. read more

Solid pizza place. I think the other reviews cover the food/atmosphere quite well. What differentiates this place from other pizza places is the customer service. The management is strong and the team always makes sure that the customers are taken care of. This, in addition to the great food, is why this place will thrive. Great job! Pizza was amazing and to find out Amore is their other restaurant well let's just say they have the pizza market covered! Dough was light and airy the sauce was perfect and House dressing for the salads is to die for! Add in one of the entrees and there's no need to go anywhere else! I went to this pizzeria with my daughter and was sorely disappointed with the pizza we ordered! It was a Sicilian style which we decided to eat in house. The person behind the counter said it would be fast. It was brought to the table fast but completely undercooked! The Sicilian crust tasted like it just came out of the cooler/freezer and the tomato sauce was room temperature at best. Rather than crispy it fell way short of my expectations. On the other hand, I noticed several pizzas coming out of the oven that looked much better. Unfortunately, they were for somebody else. The restaurant received a bonus star due to pizza other customers would be receiving. Also, I noticed an employee dropped some food on the floor and he properly threw it away. The staff should pay closer attention to patrons inside the restaurant. If someone had actually asked me if everything was okay I could have requested the pizza to be put back in the oven. After I received the pizza nobody even looked at me much less said thank you when I finished. Too bad, it's a nice spot but I probably won't go back or recommend it to anyone. read more

We use to love this place but now we are done. Two times we ordered pizza and waited two hours for it to get delivered. When we called to find out when it was coming we were told the driver went to Stamford (we live in Darien). This was the same excuse they gave us the last time we waited 2 hours. My boyfriend and I moved into an apartment right around the corner from this spot and decided to give these guys a try a few months back. We definitely have a good dozen trips under our belts now (literally) and they have yet to disappoint! The staff is super friendly and they have a great selection of pizza by the slice if you're not looking to order an entire pie (although after tasting it you'll want more, seriously). Delicious pizza! Many pies around here have very little sauce (boo) - this had a perfect amount of sauce and cheese with the added benefit of the occasional basil leaf. Poor customer service and a missed opportunity to earn a new customer. I was there on Thursday Dec. first. I had called ahead to order two pizzas. When I came to pick up at the time they told me, one pizza was ready, the other took at least fifteen minutes more. There was never an apology. The two girls working the register seemed caught up in themselves. The men behind the counter preparing/cooking the pizzas barely looked up when my second pizza was done.
