After 30 mins of placing my order I get a phone call. The employee stated "they don't have Tilapia and don't know why it's on the menu". So I replaced the Tilapia with whiting and requested a refund for the difference. Today is Mother's Day and my grandma wanted food from here. I waited to 12pm to go to the door because that's what the hours are. The timing was fast because I ordered from door dash. The food itself was a 1.5/10 (and I'm just being nice about it because I could've left it as a 0). The food didn't even have a good smell to it. This is my first time ordering from here via Postmates. I know the reviews for this place are suspect but I wanted to support a local minority owned business. I ordered the chicken & waffles and whiting & fries with a side of mac & cheese, candied yams & corn bread. The total was $30. Now I wish I could say this turned out to be a great experience but it was quite the contrary. The chicken was over cooked, and the red velvet waffles were a pile of red mush literally, they had no distinguishable waffle shape, it just looked a pile of smooshed under cooked cake batter. I didn't bother to taste the chicken so I can't comment on it, but I most definitely can on the whiting. Now I must say they did provide 3 generous pieces of fried whiting on a bed of fries (the frozen kind not fresh cut fries) however, the seasoning or coating on the fish was tasteless, and they gave me 2 small packets of tartar sauce to salvage them, which of course didnt work. The mac and cheese tasted like it was made of Kraft American cheese & it was too salty. The yams were mushy, watery and too sweet. The only one thing I thought was palatable was the corn bread, which is $1.50 and the size of a baby's palm minus the fingers. I must say I assumed that local restaurants that have survived the COVID19 shut down were probably upping their game to get their customers back in but this place hands down had to be one of the worst quality take out experiences I've ever had. It's as if the person who prepared this order has just given up on serving good food. First, the menu on their website only lists a small number of the dishes they provide. Once inside, the menu is much more extensive. The 'restaurant' is very,very small. And they did nothing to prevent six or seven people from crowding inside waiting for their food (no social distancing). And several of those people were either not wearing masks or only covered their mouths. Nearly everyone seemed to have pre-ordered. It took almost 10 minutes for someone to take my order. She said it would be 20 minutes. It took almost 45 minutes. They simply are not able to handle the quantity of orders. Also, they were unable to accept credit cards. Clearly this is ongoing because they have printed signs prominently displayed saying Cash Only. I was hoping the quality of the food would make up for the unhealthy atmosphere and the long wait. Heard the ad on the radio stating that their Fried Chicken was better than the Colonel's, so being that I loved fried chicken I wanted to go to try it out. Order:- Fried chicken ( 2 pcs), mac & cheese, yams, & cornbread. Taste:- Fried chicken - seasoned was the only plus. Breast was DRY!!!. Thigh = DRY. How do you make the thigh as dry as the breast.
