As I placed my order on grubhub, smthng told me 2call & make sure they had catfish bc there's been other times that I went & they didn't hv it. Called & nope! No catfish! The food is pretty decent but the portions and the service needs major improvements. Initially when they first opened, they had a constant variety of food readily available with two women working efficiently. Now, service is slow as hell, meaning waiting for 20-30 mins for an order and often times they have very limited menu items available. The portions are super small (one icecream scoop) for sides as if you ordered off a child menu. Food was great. I ordered candied yams, cornbread and sweet chili wings. Unfortunately the cornbread was going to take 20 extra minutes but they called to inform me and gave me an option for a different side so i substituted it for corn. Everything was cooked and seasoned well. The worker who made the call was extremely polite and accommodating. The driver was also polite and kind. The delivery was on time and the food was still hot. Every time I order food it comes wrong. The service is poor and is not managed properly. When I call the restaurant the person who answers the phone doesn't speak English well and doesn't understand what you are saying. The manager is never there for you to complain to so there will be no improvement. This leaves a bad taste in your mouth. I happen to run across this restaurant by mistake while walking around gun hill road with my boyfriend. He said he had heard great things about it so me and him decided to give it a try. This restaurant is a tiny gem in the gun hill are. They have amazing soul food here. I got the baked chicken with macaroni and cheese and sweet yams and it was delicious. The chicken fell off the bone and had amazing flavor. The Mac and cheese was nice and cheesy with good seasoning. Now let's get to the yams. I've never been a fan of yams because of the sweetness and most people make them with marshmallows and I don't like that. These in the other hand were perfectly sweet with a hint of saltiness that brought out the sweetness. The food here is amazing! They have turkey neck, bbq chicken, collard greens, potato salad and more. They also have great staff. The owner is super sweet and has a great vibe. I ordered food through Uber eats, to Bronx soul food restaurant , they received my order it took them 2 1/2 hours to Fill my order... I left my phone number ask them to call me if there is a back up or if they're running late I got none of that. The food is decent. It's not soul food it's Jamaican food. Unfortunately the customer service is horrible. If u go there expect to b there for at least a hour which is absolutely ludicrous because the food is right there in the front. I noticed the food being cleaned in the same sink the dishes were washed in which I don't think is sanitary. When they opened the front freezer there was a horrific stench that filled the room. The workers seemed overwhelmed like maybe they are understaffed. The owner has a tendency to give unwanted attention to his customers. I spoke with a friend of mine who said he asked the owner for a job for his daughter. The owners first question wasn't " is she qualified" it was " IS SHE PRETTY".
