Yes!!!! The food is amazing and the sweet potato pies are top tier. I love that they are served mini. I love their sweet potatoes and Mac n cheese. Why?! Because they literally go together. The Mac is cheesy and cooked exactly how I want it to taste. It sticks together and is never burnt on top. But I have tried the potato salad (a hit for sure), collard greens (seasoned to perfection), and the sweet potato fries (which I don't like, because I don't really care for a sweet potato fry. But they are steak cut and glazed with a sweet yet light glaze). As for the meats: I've had the fried catfish, catfish bites, beef ribs, fried chicken breast, baked chicken breast, fried chicken wings (BBQ & Jerk), and the salmon, crabcakes, and the ultimate feast. Oh and I've had their chicken strips. By far my favorite and frequently ordered are the catfish bites and chicken strips. Just know that this restaurant used to be a sit down intimate spot with a catering hall a few doors down. But since CoVid, it has become solely takeout and delivery by the apps. So, you won't get a full dining experience and will have to pay for a certain kind of packaging. For instance, if you don't want your food to touch or leak into other food the. Order separate packages and they will do it. This place has iced tea and lemonade that are divine. The customer service not be the absolute best if you walk in. Good local neighborhood spot I discovered today it's in a weird location I would recommend calling ahead and driving over there to pick up your food. You will need to look for parking which is definitely a drawback. There is no ambience since it's a takeout only location and Service was good. I waited for my food if you choose to do that it's about a 15 minute wait overall the food I would say is OK I had catfish with collard greens and cornbread. I like my catfish crispy- This one wasn't- the collard greens were pretty good. I haven't tried the cornbread yet, but it looks right. I went to Sweet Potatoes on Saturday to get sides for my meatloaf. I picked up some collard greens, Mac n Cheese, and potato salad. The collard greens were a hit with my husband and so was the Mac n cheese; however, neither he nor I liked the potato salad. That was my first time going back to Sweet Potatoes since prior to the pandemic in 2020. I stopped going because one day I picked up fried chicken and the skin was dark on the outside but the under was raw so I had to get in my car and drive all the way back to get a refund. Well this place advertises that they have done in seating. Lol, not at the address but 2 storefronts up the street to a dark and dingy storefront that's dimly lit. They want you to order at the address listed then go to the spot and sit down to eat. How is the food served, in a to go bag with plastic utensils. The ribs, macaroni and cheese and collard greens were pretty tasty but all of the food was very sweet. I wanted a slice of sweet potato pie, instead I was brought a small round pie about 5 inches round. Needless to say for 3 people our bill was $136.00. We arrived at 1pm and was given the dinner menu. The food is very good. They catered my family's Thanksgiving. As you can figure, the sweet potatoes were great and the mac and cheese was very good. We had a pan of fried fish to go with a turkey with stuffing. The fish was outstanding (it had good flavor and a nice crunch to it) and turkey wasn't not bad (a little dry). We look on the maps app to find nearby restaurants, we went to the web site to look at their menu, we also got it delivered to the hospital and everything was excellent! The food was truly incredibl! I've been here about three times now, each time for pick up only (I always check my food before I leave). The food has been consistent for me. This most recent visit, I got the southern fried chicken, the Mac and cheese, the candied yams, corn bread and the potato salad and both the sweet potato pie, and a banana pudding for dessert. The candied yams actually tasted better than when I got them the first time. The chicken was still good, although they didn't serve those huge pieces like before. I guess the recession is hitting everyone, and the inflation has gotten back to the chicken . I think the mac and cheese also was better if not about the same. The sweet potato pie wasn't all that for me, which again is weird based on the restaurant name. We ordered two pies, and one was a pie like you'd get at your local chicken spot, and the other was a pie slice. The banana pudding was good, though. Also, I did try some of the collards with smoked turkey, and that was really good. I would get that next time. Oh, also, there's a cash discount but you don't find that out until after you pay so you pay the total given then you get change back and THEN they tell you about the discount. Overall, I give this restaurant 4 stars for serving hot food, great packaging that kept the food hot, and great customer service. I just moved to the area and was in search of some southern comfort food. I came across this place on yelp. Because of the mixed reviews I was very very cautious. The food arrived within 45 minutes and the packaging ensured that it was kept hot. There was some condensation in the fries container, but that is to be expected and shows they were hot. Southern fried chicken: When I first tasted the chicken I was happy that it was hot and could tell it was cooked fresh. However, the taste was a bit off to the point where I wasn't comfortable finishing it. It tasted like the chicken was cooked fresh but that the chicken itself was on the verge of being rancid. Max and cheese: I thought the mac and cheese was good. It was nicely seasoned and cheesy. Candied Yams: These were my favorite. Good amount of sweetness and I could tell they used fresh yams as opposed to canned. Steak fries: These were cooked fresh. My only issue is that to be labeled as herb fries, they didn't have a lot of flavor. I seasoned them more to spice them up. Peach cobbler: I didn't care for this at all. The taste was bland and it didn't taste fresh. It tasted like it was cooked a few days or even a week ago. The reason I gave this place 4 stars despite some of the food not tasting super fresh was for the customer service. I reported an issue with the order on Uber eats and received a response from a restaurant. I also appreciated that the food was cooked fresh. However, for the price, I expect to get chicken that is freshly bought and seasoned and can tell from taste when something has been sitting in the pantry for a while before being fried. I'm definitely willing to give this place another try, perhaps business slowed down this week leading to the almost sour taste underlying the chicken and peach cobbler? I'm willing to speculate that this place is capable of serving fresh food and was happy that the business took the feedback as an opportunity to grow as opposed to being defensive or dismissive. I had the whiting and herbed fries and really enjoyed it. I tried the banana pudding as well and it was just ok to me though it does remind me of Magnolia Bakery's banana pudding. Sweet potatoes has been the go to soul food spot for me during quarantine. Every time I order from Sweet Potatoes I get exactly what I ordered and it is always delicious. All the sides are on point as as well as the main dishes. I always get the two meats option. There is a down side . I spend at least $35 dollars when ordering for myself at sweet potatoes. As much as I love this place, I cannot afford to make it a take out staple. They have definitely changed since Covid. They used to have few tables for indoor dining but that's no longer available as that's a small restaurant. It took about 35 minutes for the food to be ready which I was surprised because nobody was in the restaurant when I entered.
