Red Velvet waffles and chicken tenders
    Tasha Ogosha F.

I was passing through the neighborhood and saw they had my favorite chicken and waffles. I was very disappointed. The tenders were very hard and they gave me the very flimsy plastic utensils to eat it so i had to use my fingers to break away the outer crust to get to some of the meat which wasn't much. I dined in and I always feel that when I do at a place with seating they should give you sturdy utensils. The already cooked food behind the counter did look appeasing though which warned them the 2 stars.

Jerk chicken/ rice and peas, sweet plantain

The food was good. The service was ok, and there was not much ambiance to the place. Prices are quite expensive. They have plenty to offer. Nice that they have enough tables to dine in because most caribbean places that I've been to in the Bronx don't. This place is pretty solid for the location it's in. Therefore, I'm gonna give a thumbs up. HAPPY YELPING!

There's a camaraderie in the room that invites you to slow down, connect, and truly experience both the conversation and the food. Everything feels considered. My best friend and I each ordered the prix fixe menu, and it was a journey from start to finish. I began with the Spicy Corn & Coconut Soup--honestly, unforgettable. The crispy shallots added just the right amount of texture against the velvety base, and each spoonful layered flavor in a way that felt both comforting and elevated. For my main, I had the kichuri, and Chef Alex Guzman absolutely shines here. He is a star--full stop. There's a clarity and confidence in his cooking that you can taste. The cilantro chutney was perfection, and the way the mint lingers alongside the spice... it's the kind of balance that only comes from someone who truly understands their craft. You can feel his care in every bite. I ended with the key lime pie, and all I can say is thank you. The whipped cream was fresh and airy, the lime zest bright without overpowering, and the crust tied everything together beautifully. It felt like a thoughtful, intentional close to an already incredible meal. I highly recommend starting with the guava mocktail, then pairing your main with the fig mocktail--both are perfectly crafted and complement the dishes so well. Also, sit at the bar. Let Dan guide you through the experience. Trust his recommendations--you will not be steered wrong. He elevates the entire evening. And the playlist? Y'all really did that.

Inside is my preferred move since the outside area is high traffic but you will always find a few brave souls happily dining at the two or three outdoor tables no matter the weather. The kitchen sits right in the middle of the action and the team works like a calm SWAT unit trained in gourmet precision. You order your food and it comes out in perfect time and the wild part is everything here tastes good. Truly everything. Most dishes run around sixteen to twenty dollars, unless you feel like leveling up to their specials which are worth every penny. I have had the meatball sandwich, the Truffle Burger with Swiss cheese and French fries Provencal plus other burgers like the Hamilton and California. All excellent. The pasta too. This is the kind of place where you leave full and happy for the rest of the day. Friendly staff, great energy, consistent quality and zero misses. Easily five stars. Cheers.

Waitstaff are frequently inattentive and difficult to flag down, and when they do engage, the experience feels rushed rather than welcoming. What's more, management appears to be part of the problem rather than the solution -- unwelcoming in their demeanor and seemingly indifferent to the overall dining experience. I definitely would not recommend this restaurant to the families with young children.

It's a perfect date night spot to share deliciousness with a loved one. My friend and I shared three flavorful dishes-- a radicchio salad, the Confit Duck Leg and the Paccheri, a pasta with house- made pork sausage and broccoli rabe. The duck was so tender it fell off the bone. The pasta was intricate and tasted perfect when it was first served then veered a tad salty as it marinated (but still great). The salad was gorgeous on its own but even better accompanied by the mains. The duck was probably my favorite, but every bite complemented the next thing so well, that all of my senses were thoroughly engaged. I truly was having such a deep experience with the food that at one point I asked my friend to stop talking so that I could properly take in all the flavors. Oops. She loved the food too, so thankfully she understood. We topped off the meal with the buñuelos. We liked the sauce, but I'd say it's not memorable. I liked my orange wine, and my friend was indifferent about her drink. It was a pricey dinner but such a worthwhile experience. Can't wait to go back.

Allow me to set the scene. I had a great dinner with a friend on a Saturday night near by and decided to finally pop into Cordial to see what they had for dessert. We were so excited to see chocolate fondue with seasonal fruits and a red wine poached pear dish. We ordered both and admired the cozy, warmly lit space. The chocolate fondue was great and the poached pear was okay, we ended up sending it back because it wasn't what we expected, no biggie tho shit happens. Upon looking around that's when we noticed one of the chefs making a disgusting mistake. He was wearing the same gloves he used to wash dirty dishes to prepare foods we and the entire restaurant ate. Not only that but he was also eating the fruits he cut with those same gloves! Did I eat the germs off someone else's plate while he was washing the dishes? Probably! It's really a shame and a disgrace to this beautiful restaurant. To top it all off the server was also taking shots on the job and seemed to get more hammered with each shot. I wish I could say I was being dramatic but I'm not. I will not be returning to cordial and this review is your red flag!! Proceed with caution and be safe!

Read on if you desire genuine knowledge and only dine out with intention. First, and most importantly, shouts to Myles and the team working this day. The salmon in my Jerk Salmon Bowl and my friend's Atlantic Salmon Bowl was flaky, tender, juicy, and perfect. The rices (white with Jerk, black forbidden with Atlantic) confirmed and celebrated what Chef JJ Johnson wrote in his must-have book The History of Rice. This is to say there is no rice like FIELDTRIP rice: soft, sturdy, sweet, savory, herby, attaches to sauce and protein and vegetables when you want it to, remains on its own when you simply want to enjoy it by itself. The plantains and greens that accompany are ridonkulous icing on the salmon sundae. If you aren't a fan of Brussels sprouts, you likely have good reasons. And, you owe it to yourself to order Crispy Brussels. Besides being cooked so they are toothsome, textured, and still sweet, they're quartered or sixthed, which makes them easier to enjoy and perfect carriers for the crispy bits that top them. I love oxtail. To enjoy this rarely served beef element in a perfectly wrapped and fried egg roll added to my adoration. After bite one, I literally unwrapped my half to see how the shredded meat was coexisting. No saucing was necessary, though the Avocado Cilantro and New Jack Sticky BBQ (both of which were enjoyed by me via spoon) would have enhanced the roll most righteously. Lastly, when you dine in or take away from FIELDTRIP, you need Nana's Bread. It is what you might enjoy if a freshly made flour tortilla, naan, pita, and focaccia met, joined, and were put through a presser. I would dip and dredge Nana's Bread in everything. Your next meal needs to come from FIELDTRIP. Period.
