Looking for a quality, affordable vet I came across this place. I priced the place before I came. It was $77 for a visit which is not bad. The place was easily accessible by bus. Upon arrival the place was clean and welcoming. There were front desk staff waiting for little animal patients to show up. I did my check in and paid my initial $77. Shortly after my pups name was called so she could be triaged by the medical assistant. My dog was weighed, and her temperature was checked via the ear. I let her know the complains that I had. She addressed my concerns and was very helpful. Once the doc came in he asked me the reason for my visit & I told him. I honestly don't feel like he did a thorough check with my pup. Some of my complains weren't addressed. I guess that was my fault being in the heat of the moment and allowing him to tell me whatever then do a quick overview and sending us on our way. Not wanting to keep mentioning the same thing that I just said. It's upsetting when you don't feel completely heard or satisfied with a paid service especially when there is an issue at hand. I was told that my dog had an ear infection and allergies. I was given a plan of care list for things that were needed for treatment. I was allowed to agree and pay for all or selected treatments. The one that I did not want was the red light therapy for a faster recovery which was about $16. Nor did I want the $68 ear cleaning. The medical assistant told me that if my dog didn't get the ear cleaning then I would not be able to receive the $40 medicine for her ear. Which to me was absurd since my dog ears are visibly clean even deep down inside. But since I didn't want my dog to suffer, I agreed on everything else, including the 14 day supply of Numelvi tablets which control the itching associated with allergic dermatitis. As long as my dog gets better 100% then I'll change this review to a 5 star. Update coming soon. read more

As of right now, I can only give this place one star. Trying to make an appointment was a nightmare. From Thursday through Sunday, I called multiple times with no answer. I sent texts and never received a response. I even tried booking online, but the system wasn't working. On Monday morning, after explaining that I had been trying to reach someone for days, I finally got a response and was given a 12:45 PM appointment. I arrived at 12:30 PM. I was told they were running about 30 minutes behind. However, it is now 3:12 and we still have not been seen. This is completely unacceptable. This clinic came highly recommended by friends for both the care and affordable prices, which is why I decided to try it. Unfortunately, I am extremely disappointed and will not be returning. If it weren't for the fact that my baby has an issue with his paw, I would have left hours ago. On top of the excessive wait time, the facility is not clean. Pee and poop in the waiting area, people just cover it with a paper towel. My pet has always been seen at Middletown Animal Clinic, and the only reason I came here was because their prices have increased and, again, this place was recommended to me. After this experience, I can confidently say the prices are not significantly different--and the service and cleanliness do not compare. While the vet was nice, the aggravation of waiting almost 3 hours was not worth it. Never again. read more

CLASSIC BAIT AND SWITCH I called the Bronx Veterinary Center of Westchester Square in regard to inquiring about their spay services for a female cat and received a quote via text for $370-$420. I called back and confirmed the price for a spay as everything in the city has been significantly higher in costs. I took an hour long train ride from the UWS to complete the initial intake forms and examination. I was on time for the appointment and waited 30 minutes past my appointment time to be seen. Following the 5 minute examination by the vet which consisted of a visual inspection of her ears and a stethoscope to her chest, I was informed the total price for a spay would be $1k. I inquired about the original quote and the receptionist claimed that was for a neuter and spays cost more. If that's the case, why give me that quote other than to get me into the office?! And then they proceeded to make me pay for the examination fee after they miscommunicated the price. I would not recommend trusting this facility with your pet. Not good business practice to lure individuals in under false pretenses. --UPDATE-- They called me back with a discounted price for the spay in an attempt to try to lure me back into the office - as if I was at a sketchy car dealership and walked off the lot without taking their initial offer lol. She was insistent on making things right but refused to refund me for the initial exam so clearly not trying to right a wrong but instead make cash. I standby what I wrote earlier. read more

This is a money making institution with no regard to your pet. Beware also of the worse "so called hospital" they are affiliated with on Fordham road. They nearly killed my dog and then suggested I take him to a hospital!! They gave him insulin and no food and coincidently told me when I called back to ask where I could buy his insulin!! My dog looked horrible when I picked him up. Honestly, they underestimate the intelligence of people who are educated. A neighbor gave me a French Bulldog oops baby. His litter unfortunately was getting sick. The dog I got had play dates with these dogs. He went to the Bronx veterinary at westchester sq. He was told his vomiting, lethargic and dehydrated puppy needed IV fluids and antibiotics and was given these thing for $120 and puppy has since recovered! My puppy, Margie, with the same exact symptoms and even though she was dehydrated, vomiting and loose stool was told she need to be hospitalized at their facility for 3 night for an estimate of $3000 ($1000 per night). The next thing out of their mouth was that I could apply for a credit card affiliated with the practice to pay for it! I can't get Old Navy to give me credit over $200 how was I going to get approved for $3k?!? The owner of the litter's dog was given IV fluids and a prescription for antibiotic. These two black women were told they could not do anything at all for the dog, No IV and no prescription. For $165 they would not even give advice for what we could do at home as a possible remedy. They kept trying to upsell the credit card or go to the free and poor clinics. Not the nurses or the doctor that came in and touched the poor puppy, Margie! They just stuck a q-tip up her bum for $75! She was so contagious but no one wore gloves or even sanitized before and after handling her bum. They looked at this poor dying baby and they just held us hostage for a $3000 credit card! But low and behold, applying for the card the amount I was approved for...exactly $3000...a Thanksgiving miracle...a scam to take advantage of patients with little options! They could have at least prescribed the antibiotics since that is standard treatment for Parvo, they could have given advice and home remedy alternate treatment for the conditions for $165 where not one health "professional" looked at her or touched her to examine her or gave any other advice other than apply for a credit card or get to stepping out of here! Terrible! I had to take a xanax in the office because their laid back, unsympathetic and money grubbing manner was making me so angry and upset. At one point I pointed out that the nurse told us the puppy litter owners probably waived being admitted for his dog so they just treated the symptoms! When I asked why this could not be done he said there was a miscommunication! Yes the doctor didnt want to lose the chance at $3000 to some older Black women who looked like they might have money to spare! The website also had an offer that new customers receive a discount when you create an account...No such thing! They are awful money grubbers who only see people who love their pets as cash cows! They could have given her an under the skin fluid IV or prescribed the fluid bag and needle or sold it to us (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=blzqdJ4tDiI)...they did not. The male nurse who attended us said he could not do fluid IVs since they were done intravenously! What good are you working in a vet's office if you can't do a procedure that is taught on 1000 search results on Google. They could have prescribed the antibiotic...they did not! It is the worst treatment of a patient in pain, in a life threatening position, and in need of urgent care that I have ever experienced except for dentists! We took poor Margie to another vets office and guess what...the overnight stay is exactly at the $3000 price point! These people are disgusting! The owner which is Dr. K is a very judgmental doctor that as soon as you start speaking about your dog health, he start judging whatever you do to your dog. I brought my dog for a check up because she hadn't been eating and she had diarrhea for three days. As soon as be I started to explain to him, he said she wasn't eating because I was giving her human food and that is why she didn't wanted dog food; then I tried to explain to him that she doesn't eat dog food and he said I was the responsible for that because I did feed her the dog food. So I told him that I wasn't going to tolerate his judgement because I had a strong reason for that. He just said he wasn't going to treat her and that I was not good for my dog. I immediately took my dog and asked to leave because he doesn't know the story of my dog.... Took my dog there. The veterinarian was fantastic. The vet assistant was great. Had X-ray bloodwork etc Was please with the service except on guy vet assistant was rude. I walked outside because my dog was get there work. He ran after me and told me I had to pay before I get the results. The receptionist I talked to on the phone was so helpful and knowledgeable. She knew all the documents we'd need, made sure to mention the senior discount they offer, and my father was very happy with the service. This is the most reasonably priced Veterinary clinic that we have ever used, as they only charge for procedures and do not tack on additional hundreds for the examination. We had all of our now 9 month old puppy's shots done here, boosters for our 4 year old, as well as care for her hot spot and ear yeast infection. I like all 3 vets who we have interacted with here, and none have been judgmental about raw feeding, which is a pleasant surprise. read more

I found this vet 3 years ago and I am extremely happy with them. They took great care of my nerves dogs. The receptionist are very helpful and informative. I also left my dogs in the canal/ hotel at the Webster Center for 2 weeks and my dogs were happy and they even gave them a bath before they went home. The front desk employees are good as well as the assistants. However the veterinary does not take time with your dog and does not explain lab work in detail. He's in a rush to get you out. He's always referring you to go elsewhere to a specialist. As a veterinary he should have some type of knowledge as to what's going on with your pet. He's told me on four occasions he doesn't know. I'm currently seeking another vet for my pet.The only good thing about this place is there prices are lower than other places. Also the wait is long. I hesitated to leave this review as it wont be positive, but I feel my experience can help shed some light to others. I have 2 puppies, both 6 month old littermates. They've been seen here, twice. Red flags - A fecal sample wasn't asked for. Temperature was never checked. A thorough examination of their ears was not done - had it been, they would've found ear infections in both. This place is VERY low priced which would entice anyone, but is it worth it? In my opinion, many medical facilities see several patients a day to rack up in money but aren't thorough at all. This place is always busy. I won't be back. I've gone over to Throgs Neck Hospital where yes, it's more expensive, but worth it. I've honestly taken all 3 of my pets here including my parents cats. Ladies in the front are great and the assistant are kind I've ran into 1 assistant for 2 of my pets I believe the name was vianka or briana she was very informative and explained the vaccines cats get when I thought it was only rabies and my girl had stomach issues and I was given a list of different foods to try and now I don't have an issue.very calm and you can tell your pets are loved and treated well just by being in the room. read more

Decided to try a local vet which was the biggest mistake ever! Very unethical business practice with questionable vets always looking for ways to add fees to your bill. Had a number of problem with appointment times not being honored or canceled on me. In February I took my dogs in for vaccinations, I thought all went well until I took my dogs to the groomers and was told they were missing their bordetella vaccines and could not be groomed due to NYC law. I called the vet office a few times playing phone tag with the office manager and finally spoke with Ashley on Wednesday who apologized and she would waive the office fee since it was not mentioned that I would have to come back within 30 days for the vaccine as long as I made the appointment on the phone which I did. The next day made the appointment, got the vaccines along with a $190 bill. After expressing my concern to the vet tech she went and got Ashley who had the nerve to come in and lied about waiving the office fee. She said she could not waive the fee since the doctor completed a thorough examination. The Dr barely listened to my dogs hearts, did not even touch one of my dogs and the other just lifted his each and looked at hair. Told me my youngest pup needed dental badly yet the vet that saw them in March said their teeth were all perfect. Very questionable vet practices which I will never use again! I recommend pay a little more and find a better qualified practice for your fur babies. read more

I had a scheduled appointment on Thursday, October 14 for my cat. The vet tech asked me why I was there and I told him she had been treated for a UTI weeks ago and was given antibiotics but was still experiencing illness behaviors. The vet came in and said she will need a x ray to rule out gall stones and they took a urine sample and prescribed antibiotics. A vet called me Friday morning and stated that the urine test came back with glucose and I should bring her in Saturday for blood tests. That Friday evening I gave my cat the antibiotics and she threw it up. I took her in Saturday morning to get the blood test and they called me in to discuss what they found. At this point I didn't know what to expect, but I did know I didn't expect to be spoken to by a vet that lacked any word that ended in "pathy". This man (short Caucasian with glasses) came in and started reading and showing me the levels that came from the blood test stated that she had diabetes and her organs were failing. I am becoming tearful and asking questions about the visits before that she received tests and medication and he rudely replied "I don't need to hear your story" I'm telling him she was prescribed antibiotics and he's dismissing me saying because she's sick, but your hospital just prescribed her 2 days ago. I just couldn't understand. I was so overwhelmed with emotions as he told the tech to print out pricing for hospital stays, and other vets for second opinions I looked at the vet tech and said is he usually like this. In my mind I'm saying how can I let my cat stay anywhere associated with this vet. I was not expecting him to put out his arms and cuddle me but the lack of empathy or human nature he lacked. I would not recommend taking your animal there if something is seriously wrong with them. read more

The front staff are friendly as well as the assistants. It seems like the assistants care more for your pets well-being than Dr Peter V. Dr Peter V is rude and doesn't take time to explain what's going on with your pet. He brushes you off and tells you to seek a specialist. When asked about lab work he says he doesn't know what to tell you. I've seen him on more than four occasions for my pet and he has not been knowledgeable concerning my pets issues. I'm currently looking for another vet who actually will take the time to check your pet and discuss any issues related to your pet. Also they give you an appointment time and your waiting for over an hour to be seen for only ten minutes by Dr Peter V. The only good thing about this place is their prices are cheaper than other places 55 office visit and lab work are reasonable prices. I won't recommend this place. Your better off paying more somewhere else knowing your pet will be in good hands. read more

I took my new kitty here for the first time yesterday and everyone, from the receptionists to the Doctor himself, was so kind and patient with me. Dr. Katz and Mirna were gentle with my baby girl and warm-hearted. The ladies at the front desk were sweet as well. The facilities are clean and tidy. I'll be going there for now on. read more
