I firmly believe that the assistance of the Terraces Team, up to and including their stringent rules on COVID-19 visitations, made this a very safe place for all elderly loved ones. I can only hope that when I am old and gray, I will have a group of people who love their job and the people they work with so much that I am taken care of like this.

They have gone above and beyond for my grandpa since day one, they even sent someone out to West Sacramento to meet with him when he was in the hospital for physical rehab. It was very stressful looking for a new home for him, but we are very happy we chose The Terraces for this new chapter of his life. Having coffee in the lobby most mornings, I have witnessed them handle confrontations from rude and angry tenants with total professionalism and respect, often beyond what the situation warranted. Jessica did not like something I had said in that communication with Pacifica. I am in my 80's, so what she did was not only unethical, but also illegal. Under California law that is elder abuse.

Not exactly evidence of a safe place. As an RN, and daughter it's hard to see a parent go through this let alone the stress on her and me thru this situation. There are nice seating areas outdoors and in. In the main lobby is a WII, which was being used as we toured. I was impressed with the number of residents that were out an about and friendly and engaging. Other senior apartments did not seem to have as many happy residents. Only two meals are served each day, lunch and dinner, with a limited selection of choices, but apartments include a full (albeit small) kitchen. Apartments have a nice patio or balcony. There is only one elevator for the entire facility, which seems like a potential hazard if the residents on the second and third floors have mobility problems and need to be evacuated in an emergency. Hallways are covered with smooth industrial (though tastefully patterned) carpet. Apartments however, are carpeted in a deep plush. This makes it difficult for residents using walkers to maneuver in their own apartments. Winding Commons is owned by the same company as Campus Commons Senior Apartments. Winding Commons is the better of the two.

The facility is clean and safe. Mom enjoyed the food and she was a picky eater! They have on-sight hair dresser and podiatrist. Residents are kept busy with plenty of entertainment. Walking outside in the landscaped grounds provides good exercise and relaxing moments under the shade trees. Kudos to caregiver Becky. She would tuck mom into bed at night and helped her with all her personal needs. She was so kind and patient. Mom also enjoyed the kindness of China, Terry, Kristy, Jerilyn, Micky, Rachael, Marnie.....and so many more great people. They all felt like family. It's very difficult to see your loved one suffering with Dementia. These great folks at Brookdale Sylvan Ranch help to lift the spirits of both residents and family members alike.
