We have activities 5 days per week, a TV room in the front lobby that our residents meet as a family to watch movies and sports. A cozy warm fireplace to sit in front of (weather permitting) The Food is good, Alex our dining manager has over 10 years experience and really cares about the residents food preferences.

If I could rate zero stars I would. My mother was brought in for rehab after suffering a traumatic…read morebrain injury. She was completely dependent. We spent at least 12 hours every day with her for the four weeks she was there. But while she was under their care, she fell three times and had two more traumatic brain injuries. The third injury caused her death. Do not bring anyone who cannot take care of themselves to this place. She was not watched nor provided the necessary safety measures she required.

However, the prospect of leaving my family in the hands of the incapable and unprofessional staff at Sarah of Strongsville is an even more discouraging idea. The family member I sent to Sarah of Strongsville received unsatisfactory, unsanitary and unnatural "care." I'm not quite sure who is supervising the staff at this place, or doing the hiring. However, there are drastic overhauls that need to be done. If the family of the staff at Sarah of Strongsville had a loved one that received the same treatment mine did, I hope they'd be proactive about it. I am immensely disappointed and disgusted by this place. Please, for the sake of your loved one and family, take your business elsewhere.

In March 2024, my mother was admitted to Eliza Jennings. During her stay, we encountered several…read moreconcerns regarding her care. Notably, there were excessively long response times when she activated her call light. On one occasion, she required assistance to use the bathroom, but the nurse turned off the light and instructed her to "hold it." According to her doctor's orders, she was supposed to receive a straight catheterization each night, but this procedure was not consistently performed. This inconsistency likely contributed to her fall, which resulted in a broken leg in April 2024. That night, she pressed the call light for help ambulating to the bathroom. However, the staff did not respond in a timely manner. She attempted to ambulate to the bathroom on her own, resulting in her falling and breaking her leg. She is now undergoing her second surgery on the same leg. Additionally, my mother wears an insulin pump, which effectively controls her blood sugar levels. However, the staff wanted to remove the pump, possibly because they were unfamiliar with its operation. As a result, she was off the pump for a week, during which her blood sugar levels soared to 587. Despite my repeated requests for her high blood sugar to be treated, the staff insisted they needed a doctor's order, which they were unable to obtain. They informed me that if her blood sugar reached 600, they would send her back to the hospital. I couldn't understand why they couldn't administer insulin immediately. Deeply concerned for her health and the healing of her leg, I decided to reinstate the pump myself. While she had a Foley catheter, it was poorly maintained.One time I found her night bag hanging in the bathroom with the tubing in the toilet and the bag full of urine, leaving her room with a strong odor. An aide even commented to my mother that her urine smelled, which I found to be an example of poor patient care. One of the final incidents occurred when she had an appointment with her endocrinologist, who prescribed insulin for emergencies-only in case the pump malfunctioned. A few days later, my mother called me at night, saying someone had administered insulin to her. I was alarmed--this could have been life-threatening, as she was already receiving insulin via the pump, which was functioning just fine. I am writing this not only for my mother but also for all the other patients who may not have someone to advocate for them or who cannot speak up for themselves. Our seniors deserve better care.

These folks take care of their patients as if they were…read morefamily. We have formed a bond with the personnel there. The managing Director really cares about those people who are under her care. When we are at work we are comfortable knowing our loved-one is at Acacia Place Adult Day Care Center. Out anxiety levels are much diminished.
