This restaurant has such a fun ambiance. Everything is colonial themed, including a lot of the staffs uniforms. 50% of the staff was dressed in colonial gear and the other half were just dressed regularly - LOL. The ice creams all have clever colonial themed names. This ice cream is really rich and creamy! Definitely tasty and good quality. It was a little pricey for the quantity in my opinion but quality does make up somewhat for that. I'm dairy and gluten free. They had a sorbet and a chocolatey chunky ice cream but I didn't love all the chunks in the chocolate and wasn't in a sorbet mood. They have plenty of GF diary based ice creams. I bought my friends 2 different pint flavors and asked for their opinions. One of my friends loves rocky road and they had one similar but she said it was still different. The other one I got was aa salted Carmel cookie flavor. He said it was good and creamy but the chunks were a little too big for him. I hadn't shared my thoughts about the DF / GF ice cream until he said that. I do love their story and how fresh everything is and how they make whatever they are able to make. And the staff was so nice! The girl that helped me did her mission in Austin and I live in Dallas / Fort Worth so there was that texas connection. The "setting" here is revolutionary times. All their flavors are named after founding fathers and figures who played a role in America's revolution. Maybe you're craving some "Give me chocolate or give me death." Perhaps Rob Chernow has inspired you to partake of "Alexander Hamilton's not throwing away my scoop." My personal favorite was "Abigail Adams salted crack cookie advice." John Hancock's signature mint was one of the best mint ice cream that was ever spawned. See, it's a ice cream parlor, but you also get a history lesson on the greatest country in the world. Win-win! My wife and I went with another couple. We sat there and ate ice cream and then talked for 3 HOURS. Seriously. Everything from the ice cream flavors, to the taste, to the creativity, to the employees wearing 3-cornered hats, to the ambiance, to the music playing (what's up Lin Manuel Miranda) was above and beyond. I'm not always in Utah county, but when I am, I search Yelp for dessert places I haven't tried yet. And one can never go wrong with ice cream. Unfortunately for us, we happened to be in the neighborhood at the same time an elementary class came to get free ice cream after performing the Hamilton play. The line was crazy, and the noise level was out of control. I mean, it was cute when they burst into song, but also just super loud. I guess we could've looked at it as a bonus--free performance with ice cream. They were super cool and collected under the pressure of a huge line. They even let us try samples, but I tried not to do too many so as not to hold up the line. I got the butter pecan, which after several bites ended up being way too sweet for me. I think next time I'll get the chocolate cookies and cream. That was super yummy, and not overly sweet. The menu was a little overwhelming to me, but I appreciate the variety for sure. I am not sure their setup is made for a huge line; a wrap around situation like Cafe Rio might be helpful. Overall: Love the theme, love the awesome variety of flavors, and loved the service. There are even some traditional stocks you can pose in for a photo op. While the first thing you'll notice is the theme, what will keep capture your attention and bring you back is the killer ice cream. I would come to this place for the ice cream even without the colonial ambiance. It is rich, creamy, and the flavors are clever and unique. Our favorites were "Alexander Hamilton's not throwing away my scoop" and " George Washington's indispensable flavor." The ice cream is made from high butter fat cream and egg yolk custard which makes it smooth and rich. The staff are friendly and fun and the shop has a strong family like feel. I've been to Brooker's a couple times and I really like their ice cream! I love their theme, about the Founding Fathers and people during that time period. It's so fun and creative. The staff is always nice and cheerful! This location can get really busy especially being next to a movie theater, so except to wait in line for at least 5-10 if you go at night. Some of my favorite flavors are James Madison (with potato chips) and Roger Sherman (banana foster). They really do have some of the most creative flavors. Definitely recommend coming here! They have free water on tap and plenty of napkins. Service- I've never not had kind service here. While I appreciate the hustle of an ice cream place making their employees stand out in the cold dressed like Yankee Doodle to take drive-thru orders, they show a distinct lack of care for COVID-19 standards. Yelp might say they "enforce" social distancing, but they absolutely do not. Barring some tables from seating and putting arrows on the floor but still letting your line look like a roving zombie horde doesn't count as "enforcement." Depending on the night the place can be totally jammed with people (you get packed in like ye olde sardines,) and the employees wear their masks around their necks instead of over their mouths. It would be one thing if it only happened once but it's every time. So why go? The ice cream is delicious. They proudly tout whatever ungodly percentage of butter fat or whatever is in it, so it's probably only as delicious as it is unhealthy... but that's a lot. It's pretty darn good. The black one, "Aaron Burr's Murderous Shot" is my favorite, but it's difficult to tell how much of the name to say. So yeah, they might only pretend to care about covid, but I guess at this point I'm willing to risk my life to get a taste of that creamy diabetes in a cup. They offer curbside pickup and delivery etc. so that's what I usually try to do BUT if you ever have to go in I would think twice. read more
