I started the MLT (medical lab tech) program at the Phoenix Campus in August 2019 and graduated in December 2020. I'm 30, and was making a career change. I've done my fair share of school, having degrees from ASU and having done many courses at a variety of local community colleges. Brookline College is a private school but it functions just the same as any of these other schools, they still have standards they have to meet to be accredited for these programs. I highly suggest taking the time to talk with the advisor, and if you can, the program director or an instructor from your program, to review your prerequisites and where you need to start to be successful. When I met with my advisor and one of the core instructors, we discussed which classes I could skip because I transferred in course work from past schooling. This was helpful in decreasing some of the expenses and got me straight into the core classes of the program, but I highly recommend you talk it out so you know exactly what you are paying for, and are prepared for the workload. I also recommend being honest and direct and discussing how you are gonna juggle working full-time (if you need to) and going to school full-time. It can be VERY difficult to do both at the same time, but I knew people who were going to school part-time, or worked out options with the program director to work with their work schedule. **Discuss these hurdles before signing up and starting your program! The MLT program was tough and required a lot of outside studying. These health programs require a lot of effort to be properly prepared to sit for the certification exams, but this school and their instructors do prepare you for success. The MLT program in particular, has been growing and some fantastic teachers with many years of experience have come on board. I found these teachers to be super supportive, responsive, and helpful whenever students were struggling. Even during covid, the program director worked to make sure we didn't have to take a pause in our program, and I was even able to do my externship during covid (and at a great facility), and graduate on time. My externship site even offered me a job before I finished my program! After graduating in December 2020, I took two months to study for the ASCP exam (while working part time), took my test in March 2021 and passed, then had a job offer from a local hospital that I applied to, by mid April 2021. Almost immediately after I graduated, the school's career development coordinator was reaching out to me about fixing up my resume, sending me job postings and even referring me to open MLT positions. They want to help students find a job in their new career. Overall, I had a great experience with this school. I had great teachers that I learned a lot from, met great classmates that I became friends with, and could lean on for help, and worked hard to be successful in this new field. Unfortunately, I think that some people come to these schools with a misunderstanding that because they have paid more for the private education that they should be passed through their program, which doesn't happen. But the school will work with you on an individual basis if you need help, and they still hold you to the standards of your program, which is critical for your success as a medical professional. I was part of this school's BSN program and ultimately withdrew, and I would not recommend attending. From the beginning, there were serious issues with communication. I was not informed that my course would be almost entirely online until the first day, after I had already driven all the way to campus. The program itself felt very disorganized and understaffed. At one point, the Assistant Dean was responsible for multiple classes at once, which made it difficult to get proper support. I experienced ongoing technical issues that I reported from day one, but they were not resolved in a timely manner. The day before an exam, the Assistant Dean pulled me aside and told me it looked like I would not pass her class. When I asked what I could do to fix the situation, I was told there was nothing that could be done even though my concerns had already been documented. I ended up going above her to get the issue resolved myself, but after that, I felt like I was treated differently. In addition to the academic challenges, I also dealt with subtle bullying and microaggressions from peers. I reported this to instructors, but no action was taken. I even overheard classmates discussing how I was going to fail, which was extremely discouraging and emotionally distressing. The only positive part of my experience was my advisor, who actually listened and tried to support me. Overall, the lack of communication, support, and accountability created a negative and, at times, hostile learning environment. For those considering this program, I would strongly encourage you to ask detailed questions about structure, support, and class format before enrolling. read more

Teachers are inflexible save for one. Told program director that I would be taking 3 days off at most for the birth of my son months in advance. His birth comes and I have teachers and the director hounding me that im not there WHEN I ALREADY EMAILED THEM I WAS NOT GOING TO BE THERE THAT WEEK THE MOMENT MY WIFE WAS GOING INTO LABOR. They also only give you two chances to take a practical otherwise they kick you out of the program, even if you do well on midterms and final. If you don't play pretend well enough by their standards, you're done. I don't care if it's in the syllabus, it's a ridiculous standard. Don't go here, my greatest regret is giving these people my money in the hopes of getting a good career. Don't give these people a dime. They don't deserve it. read more

I had high hopes when enrolling at Brookline college but unfortunately , my experience has been far from Satisfactory. The primary issue lies with the teachers whose, behavior and attitude have been consistently unprofessional and disruptive to the learning environment. Firstly, many of the teachers seem more interested in asserting their authority than in fostering a supportive and engaging classroom atmosphere. Their approach often comes across as overly harsh and dismissive, which discourages students from participating or asking questions. This kind of demeanor is not conducive to learning and leaves students feeling undervalued and disrespected. Moreover, there have been instances where teachers have used inappropriate language and displayed a lack of patience and understanding towards students who are struggling. Instead of offering guidance and support, they resort to sarcasm and ridicule, which only serves to undermine students' confidence and motivation. Additionally, communication with parents is lacking. Concerns raised about teaching methods or classroom management are often met with defensiveness rather than constructive dialogue. It feels as though the school prioritizes maintaining its image over addressing legitimate issues brought up by concerned parents. Overall, the potential for a positive educational experience at Brookline College ] is overshadowed by the negative impact of these "badass" teachers. I hope the administration takes serious steps to address these concerns and foster a more respectful and nurturing environment for all students. Until then, I cannot recommend this school to others seeking a supportive and effective educational experience. The professors are ok, but when it comes to the financial aid department don't even worry about getting help if you have questions you will get invasive answers to your question regarding financial aid. Here is an example of the inadequate training I received at Brookline. I had a geriatric rotation at a senior care facility. The preceptor was Mary Walsh and there was no RN there. The RN students were doing CNA and janitorial duties. I brought this up to Mary Walsh and Amanda Burlock who was there at the time, and they said students had to do it. Keep in mind, no nursing was being done at that place. I did not participate in taking out the garbage and cleaning bed pans, and I was placed at another site where this did not happen. Amanda Burlock left that semester. It was the only semester she taught there. High staff turnover was also common at Brookline. Preceptors would leave students unsupervised all day during rotations and quit in the middle of the semester. The teachers and Deans would quit during the semester as well. There were 3 deans in the year I was there. The teaching was also inadequate, hence the poor NCLEX pass rates. But you don't have to believe me, the state put the school on probation and stopped their enrollment for academic violations. During one semester, the entire psych class rebelled against the instructor and the administrators and other staff entered the class room to calm the situation, but it made the situation worse. Seeing teachers and preceptors yelling at students and students crying in the hallways was common. Find another school that values your time and money. read more

This school changes deans every month because they can't keep a staff longer than a month. If you need to get a hold of them, hope you like to wait because they'll get back to you in a year. The only thing they are good at doing is taking your money, giving you the run around and failing you for absolutely no reason! This school is leaning towards more of a circus if you want to be a clown because this school is nothing but a joke. They used all the students money to upgrade the entire school but can't upgrade their teaching skills. You are better off having the homeless people outside teach you the course! This school is a sham and a joke! Only good that came of it is I'm finally done with it. They'll enroll you, take your money, and not provide you with adequate instructors. During my 9 month program we didn't have an actual teacher for a few months. When we finally got teachers they would come and go just as fast. And then all of a sudden I have an "outstanding balance due" that they did not tell me about from the beginning, which they are now withholding my diploma that I, against all odds, deserve. So if I'm going to be honest, going to this school can be a bit overwhelming. When I first started the nursing program here, it was chaotic and disorganized. The admissions and FA reps were amazing and helped with everything I needed. My only issue was with some of the professors that didn't seem to show interest in the students, especially those that were struggling (reason for 4 stars). Though the school is chaotic, during the midst of the pandemic they were able to get every single nursing student to where they needed to be with the resources they had. And they made it work. Was it ideal to be in nursing school online? No, absolutely not. But what could they do? I'd rather figure it out online than have my graduation date pushed back. After graduating in Dec. 2020, I did learn that they are now under new management of an entirely new company. And I hope to see the reviews get better. Also, it's nursing school, expect it to be hard. Especially with it being online AND being accelerated. Though, even having graduated in Dec. I am still waiting for certain paperwork to be filed through the school so I can take my NCLEX. read more

The pharmacy technician program is a program for all who want to succeed at their best. I enrolled into the online school programs with no experience and just in about one year I changed that inquiry to high responsibilities in a role In a local pharmacy. Marianne, my Career Development Coordinator at Brookline College Tempe had a huge role in reaching for a position in the pharmacy departments. We worked together strongly and fiercely, and she was always on top of things. I honestly think Brookline has a huge support system and I am so grateful for Marianne for helping me when I thought it wasn't possible and at the edge of quitting. During COVID-19 we experienced up and downs like many schools did. I recently graduated with my BSN and even though there were many problems and a handful of teachers who made things difficult and didn't care, there were just as many that did care. I tended this college online. My first year was good. They had really good communication skill with me. Keeping me in the loop of my classes and also making sure I did my weekly post. Until Covid hit. They hired all new staff and new system. I was never updated on my classes. I finished my program. Wanting to complete my AA in allied heath. I couldn't get ahold anyone. Once I did, never told me when classes started, my Financial aid or what was going on. I kept calling to see what was going on. I would get emails saying I would have to do orientation again!!! Re do everything from the beginning again. Once I did all that. Never told when class started. I got dropped because I never posted my discussion. I called multiple times to see what was going on but nothing. Then I get a email saying I had to pay over 2000 because I was getting dropped from the program and it was my third notice and I had never gotten phone calls nor emails to begin with. If I could give less than 1, I would. Management (all management) leads by intimidation, they gossip about the students unfairly, they run in cliques, they treat the students poorly (the ones who are really trying) and give "breaks" to the students who break policies. Management has gone so far as to change grades for student/s to make sure they graduate and or doesn't "look bad" on the college. It's a for profit college that shows by the number of students they enroll, even though they don't have enough space or instructors to teach them. The full time faculty's paperwork will read 40 hours, but you will be expected to work 50 or more, oh, and you're salary...no overtime. If you don't work the extra hours, you're treated very poorly and intimidated more. The students run the school because as long as they are enrolled, have financial aid, they can do whatever. I was an instructor for this college from June 2013 to February 2014. I worked at the Tempe campus under an amazing director! He left and an awful woman with a really BAD reputation took over. She was a bully, she set out to completely get rid of all of the best instructors, myself included. My students respected me and loved my classes. When she pointed her nasty finger at me to get rid of me the students wrote letters and begged her to keep me. She punished them for it. The school has since lost all of their great instructors because of this horrible person. Ive moved on to a happier college with a great team of people I can respect. I just feel bad for the students that got ripped off. I cared about each and every one of them. Shame on Brookline. Students be warned!! Go to another school! ANY other school. read more

It took me a whole week to get a hold of someone regarding the issue. If I knew Phoenix community college has the MLT and MLS program I won't come to Brookline college. The absolute worst, took billing and coding in Tempe, no organization, no or late reply when emailing instructors about assignments because they switched books and never bothered to update assignments. Dr. Martin is particularly awful, I had no textbook when I started, emailed her asking where to find info, got no reply. Two weeks in I contacted the advisor (who quit shortly after) because it was apparent something was wrong, he said, "oh yeah, you need books." Great, I love to start way behind when I planned on this course and was excited to start it. I switched to online after in class "teacher" spent most of the class time trying to prove how cool she is to the students. I am over the age of 14, so I wasn't impressed by how many tattoos she and her husband have, what type of facial hair he has and his ethnicity. More disorganization, very scary and obviously just in it for a paycheck. Was contacted by their employee Tricia Hard Cox, thought it was a joke, it's not, lol - who and why would you hyphenate that name? She told me about how I could cheat my way through my externship and they would accommodate me, nice way to train a professional! Just received an email stating they are sending me to collections, which is interesting, as I have never received an invoice from them. The story is much longer, just wanted to share my general experience, I can see how they could really take advantage of younger students. So things started well and I like my teachers and the courses. Then some guy apparently from corporate started showing up on campus and he now has me freaked out. At first, "Jerry" just said hello to me as we passed on campus, but I kept running into him all too often. Once of my classmates said she caught him secretly following me and staring at my body in a perverted way. One day after class, I was headed to my car and Jerry pops out of no where and asks me if I would like to have dinner some time. Umm, No! He said he was a big shot at corporate and could make my life as a student much easier. I asked him politely to stay away from me and quickly got in my car, locked the doors and drove off. Now I am really freaked out! He still shows up at the oddest places and times on campus and recently I am pretty sure he was following me in his car while I was driving home! He scares me so much that I am now frightened to attend classes. How can Brookline let a stalker like this on our campus??!!! read more

They are attempting to withhold student loan money, Pell grants, and more after withdrawing from the school AND have the nerve to charge money for withdrawing telling my wife and I that it's because of "loss of business" on their end. There is a 20% discount available if you register to work for this in home nursing service prior to signing the paperwork with Brookline. Wish I would have read the reviews on the school before going here. There are a select teachers that made it worth it but otherwise the school is disorganized, has a high turnover rate with faculty and deans, and on top of it they don't really care about the students they just care about getting their money.
