My husband and I have used Brooklyn Bark as Oliver's dog walker and sitter since we brought Oliver home as a 9-week-old puppy. They are truly the best. Professional, kind, and caring. Oliver (who can be a little timid sometimes) absolutely loves his dog walker, Joe. Joe checks in with us through Brooklyn Bark's online system after every walk. A few times when Oliver was acting a little off in the morning or ate something he shouldn't have, Joe has gone out of his way to check in and let us know Oliver was doing fine. Joe has kept Oliver at his place a few times (including on New Year's Eve) and he sends us photos and updates regularly. I can't tell you how reassuring it is to know that Oliver is with someone who cares about him like we do. On a few occasions, we've had to request a dog walker or sitter at the last minute and someone from Brooklyn Bark has always been there to help us in a pinch. While we've been thrilled with Brooklyn Bark for two years now, I'm writing a review today because of something that happened this morning. We took Oliver to the park for off-leash hours and Brooklyn Bark happened to be there, offering free tennis balls and treats for the dogs (and donuts and coffee for the humans). Thank goodness they were there because, all of a sudden, Oliver started pawing at his face and acting like he was going to throw up. Not knowing what was wrong and worried he was choking, I remembered that the Brooklyn Bark dog walkers are certified in dog CPR, so I ran over to their table and asked for help. The owner, Rachel (who has known Oliver since he was a puppy), ran over, along with another Brooklyn Bark employee, and quickly determined that Oliver had gotten a short stick wedged in his back teeth. They carefully pulled the stick out and Oliver was right back to his normal self (meaning that he immediately proceeded to try stealing the dog treats and donuts at the Brooklyn Bark table!). We were so fortunate that Brooklyn Bark was there to help and they handled everything so calmly and skillfully that we would be remiss not to share this story and our appreciation with others. We started using Brooklyn Bark for dog walking in September and have been impressed ever since. Right from the start, they made a great impression by setting up a very professional introduction to meet us and our dog. When Nick and Jake arrived they could immediately be identified as true animal lovers. They spent time getting to know our dog's habits and personality, and seemed to love hearing about his quirky traits, of which he has many. We obviously could ramble on for hours about the minutia of my dogs behaviors (and cuteness), but Nick and Jake dove into the conversation with full interest. The whole team showed great concern over making sure the dog feels comfortable with their walker, and explained their process of building that relationship. They let us know they never wear headphones for the first many walks, and at the beginning, walk the dog alone to get to know his traits. Once they started walking our dog, we found out that they also write the cutest notes after each walk! Even though you're not there, you get the sense of how the walk went. Since starting with BK Bark, we have also had Stephanie walk our dog and in every single note she talks about how she cannot wait to come back and see him again. It's this kind of passion for animals and commitment to our dog that makes us feel so able to trust BK bark and their team. Also, on a logistical level, they have made it so easy for us to book walks amongst an ever-changing schedule. They are so available via text, email and online so we have never had a problem with booking. we've used BB for just about 8 months now as a walking service. however, our guy is a few months away from turning 2 and we've "used" rachel pretty much from the day we brought him home. As a first time dog owner I've called on Rachel for help and advice on many things. this includes calls at 11pm because the dog got sick and i was concerned about the volume. her response ' be right over' not only did she come over to check in but she was digging through to see what it was. that is one of MANY examples of how caring and loving she is for all of the animals in our neighborhood. Yes, including a rooster who was dumped in the park one night - she dug through the bushes to save him! I can repeat all of the 'Rachel loves my dog' posts...its ALL true and then some. Rachel (or Aunt Rachel as we refer to her) is a part of our family. Our dog is insanely in love with her! Our dog really doesn't even NEED to walk to do his business while we're both at work but we still have her walk him because he has such a great time with her and all of his Doggie Friends. Rachel not only brings together the dogs in our community but she brings together the people as well. We really should come up with a Barker secret hand shake or something :) PS - Dear Mr Yelp - why are so many of the good reviews for Rachel and her team not counted toward her raiting? Originally, I wasn't going to let anyone walking with me. Except my man that is. Alas, when he got busy at work more than once and didn't show up, I decided to stop being a good girl all the time. I left clues, one simple, two smelly, and one quite sophisticated. He got it. Next afternoon a magnificent human bitch showed up. Although she smelled of dogs, cats, birds, and seemed very enthusiastic, passionate and loving, I made sure to play shy and non responsive, so she won't take me for granted. Heck, it took my man almost 6 months to get my approval, and he is one hell of what humans call " a dog Owner". As if. I couldn't hold too long. She was so caring, genuinely loving and naturally capable, that I let her hold the leash almost immediately. Although she demands obedience at all times... from all the other dogs of course, I don't mind listening to her. She washes my feet when the side walk is extremely hot, or when salt and snow. I don't need any special care or training because I'm perfect, but I saw her taking care of other dogs and she is amazing. She usually do not walk more then two dogs together unless a bond was established between us. I am happy to meet Pepe and Hicks, although Hicks is an idiot sometimes. Just kidding. We are so beyond happy and satisfied with Brooklyn Bark! Especially with our walker, Matt! He's reliable, a great communicator (we love his consistently thoughtful, funny, well-written notes!) and professional. He goes above and beyond in caring for our high maintenance dog Alva and our low maintenance kitty Rampage. One day Alva didn't pee on her walk and Matt went back to our apartment an hour or so later to take her out again. Alva also has a lot of shelter dog issues. She's scared of everything and barks to let everyone know that she's scared. We are working with a trainer to lower her stress levels and create new healthy behaviors, but it's a slow process. Matt handles her issues really well and goes out of his way to make her as comfortable as possible. In addition, one afternoon the grumpy super in our building gave Matt a hard time for a completely irrational reason and Matt handled it like a champ. Most importantly, Alva was diagnosed with heart worms and was not supposed to elevate her heart rate during treatment. A very difficult task for an extremely nervous traumatized shelter pup. But Matt and the whole Brooklyn Bark team were so accommodating, so supportive and so helpful through out the whole process. It's was such a comfort, and continues to be a comfort, knowing our babies are in such wonderful hands! They are awesome at life y'all! read more

I can't imagine how I could possibly sum up my experience with Brooklyn Bark in a Yelp review. Bk Bark has been walking for us for the past year, but even just calling them our "dog walkers" feels like an enormous understatement. I remember when I first called to inquire, I spoke to Helen ("The Barkmaster") who spent nearly an hour on the phone with me, asking questions about our majorly neurotic pup, Taco, and finding out about our needs and getting to know us. Since then, they have continued to go above and beyond for our every critter-related need. They are incredibly organized, get back to emails super fast, and have helped us out with everything from finding a foster dog love match for poor Taco to help him with his separation anxiety, to getting me my spare set of keys when I locked myself, our pups (now 2 of them) and our cat out of the apartment coming home from the holidays. These are people who REALLY care about their clients, and even about the humans that come with them! It should also be noted that our newest walker recently said to me when we were chatting during our meet-n-greet, that he's so happy to be at Bk Bark because of how much they care about their employees. Basically, Bk Bark is awesome, I trust them absolutely implicitly, and I truly can't say enough good things about them. read more

Iris xoxo Milton!! Iris is my 13 month old, 45lb terrier mix, and Milton is the person from Brooklyn Bark who walks her. When I adopted Iris 5 months ago she wasn't housetrained, had stomach troubles, had never walked on a leash, and was afraid of pretty much everything. In those first few months almost any noise could ruin a walk for poor Iris, and it was a little challenging and really sad to walk her. Rachel came on a Sunday night to meet Iris and to assess our needs (which was so impressive and reassuring!), and then she matched Iris with Milton. Milton was amazing. In the daily email updates I receive from him, I can feel his genuine warmth and compassion for this scared little dog, and he is so wonderfully consistent and patient with her. I consulted with a trainer to address her fears, and the Brooklyn Bark folks actually spoke with the trainer to make sure that they were reinforcing the plan with Iris on her walks. It took a few months, and I am so incredibly grateful to Milton, Rachel, Helen-the-Bark-Master, and everyone at Brooklyn Bark for the huge role they played in Iris's adjustment to Brooklyn. We have had our pets cared for by Brooklyn Bark for over 4 years. We have always been incredibly happy with the care they take with everything from exercise to companionship and feeding. However, they are so much more than just pet care. They treat our pets and us like we are family! This is exemplified by how they reacted when we had a fire in our house. Immediately upon hearing that there was a fire in our house, without me even reaching out, Colleen left her home and came to ours to make sure that our pets were okay just in case we weren't home (she communicated with me the whole time)! She pulled in JD, our dog walker, who took our dogs home with her and has been boarding them for us while we are out of our home with no advance notice and no questions asked. They did a quick assessment of the dogs as they are certified in pet first aid, they bought dog food for our dogs and brought us all water. The only time that night that I felt like I was going to cry was when I became overwhelmed by their care and concern. You cannot go wrong with Brooklyn Bark on a good day and you definitely want them in your corner if there is an emergency! read more

I love this place! Really, I wish I could give more stars.. After not having used a dog walker for nearly two years, preferring to deal with the stress of coming home rather than a walker, my partner finds Brooklyn Bark. We chose them based on all the amazing reviews and they definitely live up to them! First, Jake & Nick came over one evening to meet my little bear..awesome! These guys were so sweet and my pup warmed to Jake quickly. Their service is super thorough, following up every walk with an email summary of how it went. That's so amazing, especially if you're a paranoid parent like me. Scheduling walks online are super easy and they are accommodating with my sporadic schedule. My little bear loves his new walker Stephanie who is a total sweetheart (I look forward to her post walk emails, they make my day). As a bonus, they are slowly socializing my mini-eskimo with other dogs to train out the leash aggression! We've used Brooklyn Bark for close to 2 years and we're so happy with the service and support they provide. We have a rescue named Boo who we brought over from the U.K. and her dog walker is Monica. Boo loves her so much and looks forward to her walk every day. Monica is so caring and thoughtful for Boo. Rachel and the team are helpful with scheduling, very quick to respond and have even helped us with dietary advice for our dog. By our request, Monica always tries to walk Boo with another dog so she can socialise (and we get great updates and pictures!) and she has spotted when Boo has been poorly and not quite right and lets us know straight away. She really, truly cares for Boo and we feel so comfortable we can trust her!. We've also used BB for overnight/vacation cover in our apartment, we we're so happy with the service and would definitely do it again! I wouldn't hesitate in recommending BB to any friends or co-workers who need a hand with caring for their animal, they're a very friendly, caring company and we're really happy! read more

When we moved to Clinton Hill in April, we were a tad worried about finding the right place for our now two-year-old adopted german shepherd mix, Fisher. GSDs are an interesting breed for sure, and require a little extra maintenance because of their curiosity and, let's just say, "spirit". Enter Brooklyn Bark. We met with them, went through Fish's personality and what I noticed on walks, and went from there. From then on, it was easy to schedule walks and Fisher seemed pretty content with it all. And then Laze joined, became Fisher's walker, and it all became utterly fantastic. Fisher absolutely adores Laze. Every time Laze shows up, it's like a billion treats just fell from the sky (I've been privy to a few of these meetings, so I know this to be true). It's really wonderful to see that and makes my dog-mom heart proud/stoked. We couldn't be happier to have went with BB. I have been a customer of Brooklyn Bark for about a year and they are truly exceptional in every way. Rachel was wonderful and came over to meet our kids and has been terrific!! Helen(Barkmaster) is tops. She is always so sweet and responds to all of the emails and scheduling for Brooklyn Bark and our care giver Alex is great!! All the kids love him and we have one who is not easy to please so that really makes us relax and not worry when we are away. They utilize technology for online scheduling as well as scanning in when they arrive and leave so we always know when someone has come in to take care of the kids. This is a great perk as many agencies do not do this. We also get pictures emailed and texted to us too which is great. They really are the complete pet care package and provide outstanding service, not to mention they have great rates as well! I recommend them to anyone needing their service. We are so happy with Brooklyn Bark. To start we have two challenging dogs, one is extremely shy and one is extremely grouchy. We were never able to have a dog walker that could work with them but Brooklyn Bark has been great, Zoe our weekly dog walker is extremely patient and we could tell that she really cares about our dogs. In addition to our weekly walks, we were finally able to take a vacation and know our dogs were being taken care of, we scheduled a couple of walks a day while we were gone with Laze, he had a really good understanding of the dogs even though this was his first time meeting them, again very patient and attentive. It's great getting the daily emails upon arrival and once the walk is finished getting another email with bonus pics of the dogs! The staff also bent backwards to accommodate our vacation week and made sure everything was taken care. They are highly trained as well as qualified and we would highly recommend them! read more

This service has been a lifesaver for me and my boxer. The service provides all that I need, and more to be honest, to feel like my dog is in good safe hands while I'm at work. Christina has been our main caregiver the past few months, and it was clear she cares a lot about Andre, and canines in general. I should mention that Andre is an especially good boy, so he may not pose that HUGE of a challenge, but I've been really impressed regardless with Christina's attentiveness, professionalism and her appreciation of Andre's good boy-ness. Andre loves Christina, as he's loved the other BK Bark caretakers that have walked and dog-sat him over the last year. He won't tell me who his favorite is, but if he were to tell me, I would guess it's Christina. The administrators are responsive, they've really made efforts to accommodate my last-minute requests, and the scheduling and billing processes are pretty easy. read more

Brooklyn bark has been helping us with our dog for about two years so far- providing walks when we are at work and at-home dog sitting when we travel. Rachel and her team are reliable, they communicate effectively, and they are great at what they do. And they are really lovely! They genuinely care about animals and are quick to respond to any concerns about scheduling, medication...even helping me with spare keys when I was accidentally locked out of our apartment. Rachel has outstanding skills in dealing with difficult dog behavior. Our dog is quite difficult with new people. Rachel was so gentle, confident and firm with our dog that she was able to establish trust in a short time. I highly recommend Brooklyn bark for dog walking and pet sitting. Brooklyn Bark is an excellent pet sitting service. They make going away stress free when it comes to your animals. In the past I've always had so much trouble finding reliable pet sitting but they have the whole business down to perfection. They have they code scanning system whereby you will always know when they come and when they leave which is very reassuring to know that they are hanging out with your pet for as long as you'd like them to. They also send daily updates, and sometimes even photos, to let you know how things are going with your pets. This last time we had Jake as our pet sitter and I found him to be very reliable and sent really cute updates of our cats. It made us feel so at ease knowing he was taking care. We have been using Brooklyn Bark to walk our dog for the last few months and they have been fantastic. Recently, we took a vacation and used them for overnight pet sitting. This is the first time we have left our dog with Brooklyn Bark so obviously we were a bit nervous. Garrett was the dog sitter (he also has walked our dog so we knew him and liked him). Garrett sent daily comments and photos which was so nice and calmed our nerves so we could enjoy our vacation. Never once were we concerned with our dog's well being. It was obvious when we returned that our dog was his happy go lucky/loving self, and we attribute that to Garrett and the fantastic care he gave our dog while we were gone. We've been using Brooklyn Bark on a weekly basis for almost two years now. Rachel, Helen, and our walker, Adam, are en excellent group. They are incredibly flexible, helpful, and always put our pups first. There have been many instances when Adam has going out of his way to accommodate a change in schedule and even more instances where he has gone beyond his job to accommodate a sick pup, special diet, medication, or to clean up a inside pupcident :-) They help the pups celebrate birthdays and holidays by leaving treats and goodies. As our fur family has grown, Adam has adjusted as needed to meet our, and their, needs. He leaves very detailed notes after each walk and makes them very entertaining. Highly recommended. read more

It's honestly a shame you can't give more than 5 stars. I've tried many other companies in Brooklyn and Manhattan and nothing even comes close to the quality of service that Brooklyn Bark provides. Anyone I've ever been in contact with has been very responsive and lovely. I also have to say - DAVID! He takes care of my pup Rhodes when I am out of town. It makes the goodbye a lot easier knowing he is in such capable hands. His updates are fantastic- both hilarious and informative- David's update pictures almost make me jealous because I can see that my pup is being so well taken care of- he doesn't seem to miss me at all!
