I just had one of the best bagel sandwiches in a while at Brooklyn Bread Café. Ordered L1 The Go-To on an everything bagel (toasted, of course) with cream cheese, lox, and some extra veggie toppings, and let me tell you, perfection. The bagel had that perfect crunch on the outside and chew on the inside, the cream cheese was generous and smooth, and the salmon was fresh and flavorful. Bonus points: the extras (cucumbers, banana peppers, red onions) took it over the top, exactly the kind of crunch and tang you want with lox. Paired it with a 24 oz Arnold Palmer (sweetened just right) and it was basically brunch bliss in a bag. Yes, uber eats delivery added a little to the bill, but every bite reminded me why New York bagels really can't be beat. Will definitely be ordering again when I'm back in Brooklyn. read more

Picked up a Too Good To Go bag from Brooklyn Bread Cafe. They were very generous and gave me a handful of assorted bagels, a sweet pastry, and a chocolate chip muffin. I was excited to try their goods for the first time. The chocolate chip muffin was really good, even though I had it the next day. It was very moist and fluffy, and the chocolate chips didn't make it saccharine. The few bagels that I tried so far were underwhelming. I had a pinkish bagel that looked really pretty, but the subtle sweet (cherry?), almost floral flavor threw me off. I was not a fan. The onion bagel appeared loaded with toppings, but it was actually not very flavorful, which was surprising for something that had so much onions! The plain bagels were ... well, plain. In summary, the bagels didn't wow me in texture or flavor, but they also weren't what I would call bad. The only thing I couldn't swallow was the sweet pastry that had jam (?) inside. Treated myself to a NYC bagel my last day and it was amazing. I got the bushwhacker with avocado, eggs, spicy mayo, and tomatoes. The bagel was large and filled me up for the day. Stumbled upon this place on our way to Whole Foods and it did not disappoint. It was Sunday around noon they were quite busy. The restaurant is located on the corner of the street, very visible. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating with majority of the seating outdoors. Indoor has a bar with stool-seating. The workers are pretty friendly. For food we ordered Chicken Caesar wrap with grilled chicken and the Mulberry chicken sandwich on a hero. Both were pretty large and very flavorful. Dry, flakes and just overall not worth it. Walk a few blocks to hit up any one of the other half a dozen bagel spots in the are. Also took me almost 5 minutes for anyone to acknowledge me when I went in, no one else was in the store and three people were working behind the counter. Been waiting for this spot to open for quite some time, and caught them on their opening day. On the way to work, I popped in for that most NY of to-go breakfasts, coffee and a bagel. Bagels were fresh and delightfully toasted (as some neighborhood spots oddly refuse). Coffee was a bit burnt and disappointing. Service was quick and friendly, getting me out and off to the train pretty quickly. I have some concerns--both that the place seems geared more towards a commuting menu as people are working more at home--as well as that the menu is maybe too ambitiously broad--I grabbed a paper menu and it's like a mini-magazine. In addition to the eponymous breads and pastries, they have whole menu sections on Egg sandwiches (served until 4pm), Sandwiches, Large Gourmet Salads, Juices, Smoothies, and Açaí Bowls. I'm not entirely sure where they're storing all this food in a relatively small space, but good for them! Personally it feels like a potential Jack of all trades, master of none kind of place, but I'm definitely interested enough to give it another try. read more

My rating is purely based on what I ate today I ordered espresso and eggwich - which had eggs on a ciabatta bread. I'm totally disappointed by the ciabatta bread - it tasted like a Roll. Ciabatta is suppose to be slightly rustic and chewy. Their Ciabatta was extremely soft and surely a wonderful bread, but it wasn't a Ciabatta. Espresso was not drinkable! read more

My husband and I have been coming here to order the Mulberry and Mott St sandwiches. The baking is done on the premises so the rolls and heroes they use for the sandwiches are tasty and fresh! They have a wide selection of sandwiches and they also offer salads, smoothies and these really delicious chunky cookies! Their cookies are a bit pricey at $4 BUT they are filled with sugary goodness! I tried the Churros and Oreo Cheesecake today, both satisfied my sweet tooth! Service is good on days that are not busy but on days that they are swarmed, as mentioned in other reviews, you could be standing there and no one is acknowledging you for a while. This is a great addition to the neighborhood! Great location, near the subway/bus stop, on 7 Avenue at 9/10 St. Their staff is really friendly, and they have a great selection of cookies and bagels. They make their bagels a little differently by baking versus boiling, so it's a slightly different texture than a traditional local bagel which is nice. They have lots of sandwiches, smoothies, pastries (including B&W cookies, muffins), and -- particularly exciting as a special treat -- gorgeous Duchess Cookies (such as "Cookie Monster" with vibrant blue, or bright sparkly purple/pink "Unicorn" - all of them taste as good as they look!!). I'm glad to support this new local business (they have another location on Court St too). Plus, I don't take much convincing when it comes to needing coffee and bagels. I am so happy you were able to finally open. I think your bagels are delicious especially toasted. But I do have a quibble. I know it must be very expensive real estate there but cutting corners shouldn't be penny wise and pound foolish as to turn off customers. I just spent $4.97 on a bagel with veggie Cream cheese. Usually you get too much and it's all over the paper. But this goes in the other direction and I found it extremely stingy. I picked it up on December 14 at around 12 noon so you might want to address this with whoever was on at that shift and in future training. Update: Really appreciate the responsiveness of the owner. Not a place to bring seniors. We entered the location because of a friend who said it had good coffee. Upon entering I was greeted by a young lady who was very nice. I asked if I could bring a table inside with 2 seats (they were light, easy to pick up) because my mom is elderly and she was cold. There was ample room for 1 table and 2 chairs. The nice young lady said she didn't see a problem but just had to check with her manager. No mind you, the manager never came out to see us. The young lady returned to us, and said the manager said no because of fire safety regulations. I wonder if he me gives a 101 class on fire safety to customers upon entering this café.
