This review is strictly based on service, professionalism, and consistency. I stopped supporting Bagel World for quite some time after I witness them treat a homeless gentleman like absolute garbage due to the fact that I purchased a bagel and coffee for him. He must frequent there often, and it was obvious how displeased the staff was with me wanting to purchase breakfast for this man. Regardless of position in life, he's still a human being. Recently I began to visit again, as the establishment is conveniently on my way to work. Per usual I order one of the specials of the day, and modify the order to include a medium iced coffee instead of the size small offered with the special. The order total is always under $13 with the up charge and tip included. Today the exact same order was almost $20 before tip. I mentioned the discrepancy in price, and ask why the difference today. They kept insisting it was due to ordering a medium iced coffee, yet it's never been an issue with past orders, including yesterday morning. Expecting a proper explanation, the staff simply shrugged their shoulders without any concern. I've visited Bagel World many times, to the point where two of the gentlemen behind the counter already know my order and bagel preferences. An almost $6 increase without a proper explanation is unacceptable, and a disservice to their clients. Bagel World has lost my business for good. read more

To start off the service was good can't complaint here and their menus are pretty decent as there's so many options to choose from. I decided to just do a custom wrap with egg whites turkey avocado and cheese. The wrap was good but what I didn't like was that they literally charge you for every single ingredient on a sandwich. Yea I understand nothing is free these days but common I saw them charge my buddy for onions on his sandwich. Small stuff like that should be built into the base price of the sandwich. I'm surprised they don't charge for salt and pepper to be added to your sandwich. Also you could barley see any turkey in the sandwich since it only came with 2 slices of it. $14 for an egg sandwich is a bit too much this isn't Manhattan. read more

Frustrating experience all around and I didn't get what I paid for. First, there was a sign posted outside with a special of the day: a sausage, egg, cheese, and pepper and onion bagel with a coffee for $10. When I went in to order the special, the employee told me there was no such special on the menu until I offered to go outside and take a picture of the sign for him. It was all downhill from there. At the register, the cashier also tried insisting there was no special on the menu (even though there was another sign posted right by the register!! You can see it in one of my pics LOL). After agreeing on the $10, he tried to charge me separately for the coffee even though it should've been included (also in the sign by the register). When my bagel was finally ready to pick up, I was disappointed to see that they had left off the onions AND peppers AND cheese, and that it was just a plain dry sausage and egg. Such an ordeal, not worth the wait or anywhere close to $10, and the bagel was unsatisfying with over half the fillings left off. read more

I was impressed with this bagel spot. I got the everything bagel with scallion spread and added tomatoes. The bagel itself had a very good consistency, not too thick not too thin. Spread, perfect amount as well (aka a good layer without being excessive). A little on the pricey side but I'll be back! read more

Truly one of the best bagel sandwiches I've had in the city, I tried the gravlax bagel which had cucumber dill cream cheese and all the works (and even some arugula, which was a nice touch). Definitely not for the faint of heart--you'd have to be a lox superfan to enjoy all that dill but luckily that's exactly what I'm looking for. It wasn't too densely packed (too much lox is a big fault of these sandwiches typically) and the bagel was not too chewy and nicely toasted. The gravlax was so delicate and flavorful, not too thick or rubbery as normal lox can sometimes be. I usually get bagel fatigue once I start my second half but this I polished off completely in one sitting. We got takeout to bring to the beach and the sandwiches held up well over the journey, I also got an extra BEC bagel for the next day and it was very solid, nothing out of the ordinary. But for me, it's gotta be the gravlax and I'll be back no question. read more

It's not bad but also not the best I have ever had. My 4 stars is generous for what it's worth but I do think I have had better lox bagels around New York. I got the everything bagel lox deluxe ($12.79) and it was decent. There was a bit of a line when I came here around 12:30pm but it was moving fairly quickly. Visited this bagel shop on a Sunday morning and it was fairly packed which is a good sign. I got everything bagel with scallion spread and added tomatoes. The bagel was baked well and had a soft interior with a light crunchy exterior. The spread was tasty and not extremely creamy so it held up well in the bagel. Overall it was delicious but pricey for what we got. read more

Good bagels though bad service. I went on a Saturday morning and the line was long. There's something odd about the way they take orders and then call your name as half the folks didn't know that their orders were called. Perhaps just take people's names instead? Always excellent! I'm not a bagel guy, as I have to watch carbs as they relate to my belly. But BW's spinach wraps are the absolute best. My favorite spinach wrap is with turkey, muenster, lettuce, tomato and mayo. Perfection at its best. Make sure to have them heat the wrap before they make it into a cold sandwich. Also, if the owner is reading this, come ON -- your employees work so hard, and yet the maximum tip on the purchase terminal is 15% - make it 20% please. This neighborhood can afford it. I also recommend ordering online for pickup - or calling them to place a pickup order, rather than wait for them to prepare your order when you show up. It makes sense and allows you to tell them you already ordered something. Reduces the wait time. read more

Solid 3.5 rounded up. The people working were very friendly and patient while I ordered. I got an egg and cheese on a bagel and an iced coffee for a little less than $9. There are two tables outside that were taken, so I sat on the stoop and the bagel was tasty. The everything bagel was chewy and flavorful, and the egg and cheese was fine...nothing too memorable; next time I'll ask for some salt and pepper on it. The staff is wearing masks, sanitizing, and there is hand sanitizer available. Social distancing is recommended as per the circles on the floor, but the way the store is set up, it's pretty tight inside. I went in to get my usual and asked politely if they had decaf coffee ( taking a break from caffeine ) and the person at the counter yelled at me no! I was embarrassed especially as I was with two people I referred to go. Anywho the service wasn't pleasant and it wasn't the first time. I got the Lox Deluxe on Everything - it was an alright sandwich. The bagel itself was a bit lacking in flavor, the lox was good but I don't think enough was put into the sandwich. Overall, a passable lox bagel, but I think there are some areas for improvement. read more

Visited Bagel World on a Wednesday afternoon to pick up bagels for lunch. It was empty, which made for very fast service!  We ordered a whole wheat everything with lox spread, as well as a sesame bagel bacon egg and cheese, and a regular everything bagel with scallion cream cheese. The whole order was ready in less than 5 minutes.  There was an incredible selection of bagels, including regular everything, flat everything, egg everything, whole wheat everything, pumpernickel everything... and they also had a wide selection of flavored cream cheeses. The bagels were fresh despite it being halfway through the day on a weekday, and there was a generous schmear of cream cheese. The scallion and lox cream cheeses were pleasantly full of their respective flavors -- not just regular cream cheese with a sprinkle of x or y.  Bagel World also had bags of day-old bagels (6 per bag) for $2. This is a pretty great deal, especially if you're someone who takes your bagels toasted -- definitely worth buying a bag to keep in the freezer! I think that Clinton Hill is somewhat of a good bagel desert, and Bagel World might be the first place to prove me wrong. Definitely beats most of the bagel places in the area -- I will certainly be returning to try out some other bagel variations. read more

While waiting to attend a baby birthday party at nearby Fort Greene Park, we stopped by here to grab a quick breakfast. This quiet neighborhood has gradually morphed into sort of a restaurant row, with eateries springing up along both sides of DeKalb. This bustling bagel place felt comfy and welcoming. Chairs set up outside the restaurant window facing DeKalb allowed customers to people watch while enjoying their food. The latte was good but the cinnamon roll very dry. The standout was the freshly-made omelette with cheese and sausage: hot, delicious and satisfyingly filling. read more

There's a good selection of bagels and smears here for it being a smaller shop. When I walked in, there was only one other customer, so I was helped fairly quickly. The lack of customers should have been an indication of how my bagel experience would go. To be honest, I wasn't wowed by the bagel. It was a little too hard/crusty on the outside and too dry on the inside. It might have been sitting out for too long or not freshly baked, but it was only 2 when I stopped by, so I can't imagine I was the last customer of the day. read more

We ordered 4 drinks and we got three drinks - 2 of them were the wrong size, one of the order was all wrong and the last one was forgotten about. I love this spot so much. I love the quick service, and the variety but that last couple times I've come by, my bagel is burned. I always get a toasted everything with plain cream cheese, and my bagels are always super extra toasted. All the "everything" is charred. They gotta learn how to not burn the bagel every time. I know people have different opinions about bagels, but I personally think this place has the only acceptable bagels in this neighborhood since the Bagel Store (on 5th Ave) closed. The smoothies are very excellent. Also, there's usually a good collection of people with dogs who either provide good conversation or people-watching - especially on Saturdays when the farmers market is up. read more
