Not sure what took me so long to give a review of this gem of a place but better late than never…read more I've come to 1 of 1 a few times so far and it's safe to say I've tried most things on the menu. Real fresh, quality, homemade ingredients mixed in with passion and love for food with delightful twists on memorable sandwiches. Bread is fantastic and so are the awesome drinks to go with your meal. Some of my favorites are the chicken Caesar sandwich, No Sleep till Gravesend, Kitchen Confidential and Grilled Cheese and in the winter, a delicious tomato soup. They also have breakfast on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and you don't want to pass up the yummy Brioche rolls the delicious combos go on. Place is small but a few tables are nice and it's always great on the go. Staff is great and Josh is curating this really authentic spot. Keep it up everyone!

Today, was a bit damp so I ordered a hot chai with bite size checkerboard cookies to dip. The barista was very pleasant and I found a seat while waiting for my chai. I see a lot of patrons working in laptops, some meeting up to talk and sip and even the barista chatted with a local patron. Love it! My chai was piping hot and absolutely delicious. The chai was frothy, rich, the black tea leaves infused with cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, cloves, sweetener, and milk. I savored every sip and complimented the barista. It is always great to find a new coffee place. I expect to be a loyal local at Velvette Brew. They also host music events and have a collaboration with Cry Baby Ice Cream. It is located in the heart of Park Slope. There are plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. Velvette Brew 279 5th Avenue B63 to 3rd and 5th or R to Union Street, 10 minute walk.

Brooklyn Bread is one of my favorite neighborhood spots, and I make it a point to stop by whenever I'm in the area for work. Their dessert selection is always amazing, and they have a great variety of fresh bagels as well. The cookies are absolutely delicious, but my favorites have to be the Unicorn Cheesecake-filled cookie and the Crookie (their croissant-cookie hybrid). Both are incredibly indulgent, fresh, and worth every bite. Whether you're looking for a sweet treat, a pastry, or a great bagel, Brooklyn Bread has something for everyone. The quality is consistently excellent, and it's become one of my go-to stops whenever I'm walking through the neighborhood. Highly recommend! read more

It was two plain, untoasted bagels. Grab the bagels, put them in a bag, ring them up, and move on. Instead, I was left standing there while the conversation seemed more important than helping a customer. This was a terrible way to start a Saturday morning. Good customer service is simply paying attention to the person standing in front of you. There are plenty of places to get a good bagel in Brooklyn. Based on this experience, I don't see myself coming back.

He must frequent there often, and it was obvious how displeased the staff was with me wanting to purchase breakfast for this man. Regardless of position in life, he's still a human being. Recently I began to visit again, as the establishment is conveniently on my way to work. Per usual I order one of the specials of the day, and modify the order to include a medium iced coffee instead of the size small offered with the special. The order total is always under $13 with the up charge and tip included. Today the exact same order was almost $20 before tip. I mentioned the discrepancy in price, and ask why the difference today. They kept insisting it was due to ordering a medium iced coffee, yet it's never been an issue with past orders, including yesterday morning. Expecting a proper explanation, the staff simply shrugged their shoulders without any concern. I've visited Bagel World many times, to the point where two of the gentlemen behind the counter already know my order and bagel preferences. An almost $6 increase without a proper explanation is unacceptable, and a disservice to their clients. Bagel World has lost my business for good.
