The rec league softball team has made quite the bad reputation for this "church." The coach does apologize and seems quite embarrassed by this behavior, as some of his players even snicker during the prayer both teams gather for after the game. Elders at any congregation should be made aware of this. Many of us will discourage anyone we know from seeking truth or a place to worship from visiting this place.

My son and I were in search of nature, sunshine and a place to walk our pup. There was entirely to…read moremany people at the nature park, so we kept on driving and discovered this cemetery. My son asked me how old it was, so I said, "Let's stop and see!" This is a nicely kept graveyard that dates back to at least 1800. There were at least a handful of still legible headstone that showed birth years from the late 1700's. So we were very curious just how old the many graves are that are completely illegible or no longer even have visible engraving any longer.

I was immediately impressed by the worship team and slide shows that went along with the service. The visiting preacher was funny and light hearted and preached directly from scripture. I think if you were theologically moderate or a little conservative this is probably a good fit for you. However, they have great children's ministries and a Hispanic service and tons of college outreach so there's definitely great ministries for everyone. There is complementary coffee upon entering and age-appropriate areas for little kiddos and older kiddos. I haven't heard the main pastor preach yet, so I will let you know later. We plan on coming back at least once a month. Overall, mainly, I will return for the fabulous worship music and to worship with family.

When my wife were deliberating about moving to Terre Haute, for the sole purpose of attending New Life, we decided to make the decision based on the people and not our family. Family is also consistent and a great reason on its own, but the amazing attitude and kindness of the people was what really convinced us to make this our home. This is an Apostolic, Pentecostal church so you can expect great music, with a mix of Contemporary Worship and Black Gospel. People that generally don't like church and those that have different church backgrounds come together and both love it. This building is WILD, and very well-known in the architecture world. For starters, it looks like…read morean alien spaceship with a giant space needle on top. When you glimpse it from afar, you can't help but become curious to know what it is and see inside. North Christian Church is just another structure that makes Columbus, IN such an architectural icon. The building was designed in 1964 by Finnish-American architect Eero Saarinen. It's shaped like a hexagon, with the sanctuary right in the middle. This results in the sanctuary having an insanely geometric and fascinating ceiling structure. You must go inside and take a look for yourself!

This building is right up there with Dulles Airport, TWA at JFK ,and the Gateway arch. If Saarinen had lived to a ripe old age he would likely have eclipsed F L Wright as the iconic architect of the 20th century. This one building makes a visit to Columbus worthwhile. While many big name 20th century architects have buildings in town, with the exception of Saarinen's dad's 1942 church downtown, they are not great buildings....this is.

Lately they have been doing the "At the movies series" where they take a movie and relate it to the word. I truly enjoy these times as it is a very modern way to teach and learn, along with being entertaining. The church turns into a movie theater by dimming the lights, playing snippets of the movie, and offering a snack (bag of popcorn) and water. It is enlightening to take a movie and relate it to the Bible. How amazing? Also, the main lobby has several photo op stations set up which to me is super cool and fun. Pics for memories right?!? Services on Sunday are offered at 9a & 11a. Greeters are usually present upon entering and a coffee stand is located in the main lobby for self service. I love how they offer coffee because I usually don't get my daily dose before church. There is a cafe on the main floor, south end of the building, but I have yet to check it out. This church provides a separate area for babies, preschoolers, grade schoolers and junior high aged kids which is nice because the service can be catered for that specific age. They have two levels. The main auditorium has seating on the first floor and the balcony on the second floor, plenty of seating to accommodate everyone. During Covid, they do have restrictions with every so many seats blocked off. Restrooms are available on the main floor, with a mother nursing room located in the women's restroom. Worship occurs at the beginning of church with singing and musicians. Service can last about an hour and a half. The end of service follows with more worship and optional praying with prayer partners. They offer many services for out reach and being involved in the community. They also offer classes to grow spiritually and become more connected.
