The store is like Abercrombie & Fitch, except maybe ten years older and working at a desk instead of wearing flip flops with jeans at an East Coast college campus and calling everyone "bro". Brooks Brothers completely outfits the conservative, mature gentleman in everything from casual tennis duds to formal dinner suits (I didn't notice any tuxedos, though), with professional officewear, everywhere, accessories such as cufflinks and tie-pins lining the aisles like Hansel's pebbles in the forest. Casual Friday or Perpetual Suit-n-Tie-Day, Brooks Brothers has you covered in yacht club, "you ruffians aren't welcome here" style. The prices aren't particularly high even though the neighborhood is glitzy. You can get lots of different things under $100. Park in the nearby structure for free, or use the reasonably priced, even nearer-by pay-as-you-stay lot ($2 every 15 minutes, cheaper still if you catch a meter). Service is polite but not over-the-top "I'm going to help the Hell out of you" friendly, either. The store is nicely decorated, like hanging out at a lawyer's house after his closet exploded. The associates will even box your purchases as presentable gifts (with cards!) as a complimentary part of the service, which is a definite plus. Father's Day tie, sweater vest, socks, and driving gloves. "--Wrappitup!" Dad will love it, sonny. (Now if you'd only cut that hair...)

I was very surprised to see them tagged at $12 here, which is substantially more than I customarily see at the Simsbury store, where I've picked up quite a few similar long sleeve Oxford shirts for $5. Otherwise, the store is very neat and organized and has the usual accompaniment of clothing, footwear, accessories, household goods, books, etc. I'm definitely a fan of thrift and second hand stores, and even though I was looking for a long sleeve white shirt, I walked out empty-handed today.

In a very difficult situation, needing a suit for my father's funeral on very short notice, the staff was incredibly helpful and accommodating. I want to specifically thank Khalid, Justin, and Susan; all three were extremely helpful. They ensured I found exactly what I needed, and my suit will be ready tomorrow, well in advance of the day it was needed. I couldn't be happier with their service and support.

As many others on the BB site confirm, the sizes have changed from the past. If you try it on in the store, this may not be an issue. But purchasing online is very risky. You are not allowed to wear or wash the item before returning. This makes it difficult to check the size. It also means that you dare not be a nice customer that tries the shirt for a day or two in hopes that it will start to get more comfortable. I politely discussed this with customer service and a supervisor; they made it perfectly clear that the size and puckering defects were irrelevant. I even asked the supervisor what she would do in my place. She hesitantly agreed that I should no longer buy Brooks Brothers. I will give them credit for having nice customer service. The problem is that customer service has no authority or flexibility.

I was surprised to see their Enfield location had such a low Yelp rating, because I thought the store was pretty good on a lot of features. #1 - The store was very neat and very well organized with plenty of signs indicating the various sizes of clothing. #2 - The store had a TON of clothing -men's women's, accessories, etc. #3 - Pricing seemed pretty nice -I saw a few gorgeous pairs of like-new sneakers (Saukony) for just $15. As far as thrift and consignment stores go, this one was pretty impressive.

I lucked out because there was a massive sales promotion today. It's hard to get misled on pricing when a posted sign says everything in the store was just $2. Must have been some sort of merchandise clearance deal or something similar. Anyway, as I walked around the store I noticed things were super neat and organized. The store was crowded, especially their tiny parking lot which was maxed out so we had to park on the mulched lawn on the side of the driveway. I was sifting through the men's section, almost bought two long sleeve white shirts but they were a few sizes too big for me. And that's when my eyes settled on a nice light gray/light green Joseph A. Bank suit. A suit for $2!!!!!! It needs to be altered, but I'm thinking I'll still come out way ahead on the deal. My wife also bought a nice coat for $2. The sales ladies were personable and funny, and I had a great time kibitzing with them. All sales proceeds go to charity, and that's a nice touch.
