There were quite a bit of major things that didn't go as planned. I understand that nothing is…read moregoing to be perfect, but I believe that the things that didn't go as planned were avoidable. For example, Meat bees (we should have had been pre-warned about the bees. We would have opted to have the reception inside had we been made aware). Many guest told us that they couldn't even enjoy the food because their plates were swarmed and they were afraid to sit outside due to the fear of being stung. *Although most of the guest were shuttled from the barn to the home and greatly appreciated, my 90 year old blind grandmother had to walk up the dirt hill to the ceremony after my mom was guaranteed/approved that she would be "golf carted" up to the top of the hill by staff. I was told she was very terrified. *Guest were allowed to wonder around in the backyard before the start of the wedding and a few of them were able to see me through the master bedroom windows. I thought the back of the house would have been sectioned off to prevent me from being seen. *There was a visible trash can next to the table and entrance of the barn where guest walked in. Unfortunately, the trash can will be captured in my pictures. I thought the trash can would not be right next to the entrance. *I spent hundreds of dollars on candles and they were not set out at dinner nor at the walk up/stairs entrance to the wedding ceremony. (Candles were the theme of my wedding). I thought I made that super clear that that was what I wanted. * I bought a ton of plastic silverware to be placed next to the cake for the guests. My sister had to ask a staff member for forks. The staff responded to my sisters question by stating that the guest were told to keep the same fork they had for dinner for the cake, which was unacceptable. *No prior notification of when the house workers/staff would enter the home. There were a few occasions when Shana entered the home without announcing herself and she was in the laundry room standing quietly. She stated that she was doing laundry but when I looked in the washer and dryer, there was no laundry in either machine. This was early in the morning so most of my guests were still in bed and the laundry had been done the night before by Anna. We were uncomfortable and unsure as to why she was just standing in the laundry room. Also, the morning of checkout, someone even took the bedsheets off the bed when I went back to the master bedroom to lay down for a moment. This was approximately 2-3 hours before check out. I was hoping to relax for the last couple of hours before we vacated the premises but was unable to. Ultimately I don't think the quality of service measured up anywhere near the amount of money we spent of this venue that didn't include any decorations. We were aware nothing was included but with the cost alone we expected we'd have more prepared staff. Me and my family which included more than 10 people helped set up night before and day of wedding up until we literally had to walk down the aisle. I thought BOMV staff would be more prepared as they do weddings weekly. Remember no plates, silverware, or napkins for guest. PLEASE TAKE THIS INTO CONSIDERATION. Your wedding is so much more than a pretty view. All photos attached are decor I or my family bought and own. Not one decoration will be provided by venue.

I had an opportunity to work with the staff and everyone was professional and plugged in. They really provide a seamless operation for any kind of event. I've done convention and event planning for a number of years and this Is one of my favorite venues.

The fact that we had the entire venue including the hotel for 2 days was unheard of at the time. It allowed my family and close friends to spend 2 days celebrating with us which was unforgettable for all of us. We had a on site get to know the venue with several other potential wedding seekers and let me say we tasted great food and drinks at the event. The owners celebrated with us all and let me say the drinks were flowing to the point that the potential wedding folks were serving our own drinks and it was a fantastic atmosphere which sold us on this venue. I had a wedding party of 80 people and it was flawless, food was excellent and we partied till 4 am in the morning. We had several little one and with the PlayStation, Wee and other games they were all very happy and occupied throughout the evening. The only thing that was upsetting was that there was a group of town folks who didn't like the fact that we were people of color and they came into town flying a confederate flag. Sydney, was not our initial coordinator however, upon her being assigned to us she immediately communicated with us and made sure to put us at ease. She was extremely communicative, organized, detail oriented, energetic, and patient. Having never been married we often had questions! She was always more than willing to answer our questions and offer us suggestions. She ensured that our wedding day was exactly what we wanted. We can't in words express the amount of gratitude we have for Sydney because without her, we feel like our wedding would not have been the same amazing experience that it was. We chose the Vineyard package and upgraded to have light blue linens to match our color scheme. We also chose to have an open bar for all of our guests. We loved having these options to customize our day. They also allowed for us to bring in all of our decorations on the day before our wedding which made for a much easier day of the wedding. The getting ready rooms for the bridal party were exactly what we needed. There was plenty of room for the 5 groomsmen and 8 bridesmaids + glam squad of 4 to help us all get ready. MVI provided us with glassware, waters, and a mini fridge that we were able to use for those pre ceremony mimosas. The food, drinks, and dessert were all delicious. Our communication with the included vendors were all fantastic. Ambiance floral for flowers and Devine Bakery for our cake all made sure to bring our visions to life. Overall My husband and I are extremely satisfied with MVI and would recommend this venue and Sydney to any couples in search of an all inclusive but customizable wedding venue.

It is literally like having your own campground without the annoying camp police guy driving around and giving you stink eye for getting a little too loud around the campfire. If you're planning a weekend wedding near the Bay Area, go visit and your search will be over. No other spot we visited offered such freedom to plan our own weekend celebration in a gorgeous setting - right on the Cosumnes River in the foothills of the Sierra - and at a worthwhile rate. They have been available for weddings for years, but, due mostly to word of mouth, are now filling up each year (we visited in mid-November and they only had 2 spots left). So far, our experience has been better than we could have imagined. When we arrived to check out the place (and stay a night in their River Cabin), a fire was roaring in the cabin and we found a basket filled with fresh-picked figs and a bunch of varieties of apples. They grow on site, in their diverse orchard (apples, plums, peaches, persimmons, nectarines...). Friendly and helpful hosts David and Bill gave us an amazing tour of the site, walking us through: - the commercial kitchen - wood cabins and tent areas (max 60 overnight guests/200 daytime guests) - the wedding site, a huge grass lawn along the river - introducing us to David's otherworldly 200 pound tortoise, Abe! We got to talking and never felt rushed. They were genuinely excited to share their property. Since then, communication has been prompt and kind. We're very excited to have our wedding there and I'll update this review with more information once we do. To note - the town of Plymouth has limited lodging and restaurants, but nearby Sutter Creek is an adorable and healthy old gold-rush town with plenty of B&Bs, shops, etc. And Amador County is a great spot for wine tasting, a huge plus! UPDATE: We had our wedding here and it all went wonderfully - I highly recommend this location. A ceremony along the beautiful river with great catering and a genuine feel - just right.

The lights made the place at night magical and there were hammocks hung all along the river. The grounds and cabins look well maintained and the place exudes relaxation and serenity. It would be a great place for a simple wedding, family get togethers, weekend of camping and yoga. It's about a 40 minute drive from Placerville with the last ten minutes going down a sketchy dirt road that's narrow and full of bumps. Alice and Halley were so great to work with - my most communicative vendor by far. I had a bunch of random questions throughout the process (as most DIY brides do - haha), and they always got back to me sooo quickly. The hall is a great blank canvas - white walls, neutral colored floor, etc. We are modern-minimalist in style, so we removed the curtains and hung our own. We also took out the stage to create more room. We fit 110 people in there EASILY, we definitely could've fit more. We hung up lights outside in the front and back, and set up lawn games outside. The covered deck is really large, too. The greenery is gorgeous, and there wasn't any road noise whatsoever. The kitchen is a great size too - we stored my wedding cake there overnight and assembled it in the morning. My wedding was beautiful, and Rescue Community Center allowed me to have afford other luxuries. My loved ones were STUNNED to find out how inexpensive the community center was to rent - you can easily make it look like a thousand bucks in there. I loved working with them, and recommend them to anyone looking for a venue.
