Brookside Restaurant is favorite haunt for Pasadena locals. A great way to take in the outdoors while dining. Service is great.

I would like to formally raise a serious concern. After completing a round and returning the golf cart, whenever I contact the course about an item I accidentally left behind, I am consistently told that the item is "not found." This happens far too often to be considered coincidence. If the carts are returned to a designated area and handled only by staff, I need a clear explanation of who else has access to them after they are turned in. Just this past Tuesday, I left my Bushnell rangefinder attached to the cart. When I returned later the same day to inquire about it, I was informed that it was already missing. Previously, I have also lost a jacket under similar circumstances. Given that the golf course charges customers and is responsible for cart management, I believe it is reasonable to expect proper safeguards--such as cameras, documented checks, or a clear accountability process--to protect customers' personal property. Repeated losses without explanation reflect poorly on the level of service and responsibility expected from a professional golf facility. read more

Our golf group played Brookside Golf Course many times over the years and have always had positive experiences--until this past Saturday. Our group booked six paid flights to celebrate a friend's birthday December 13, 2025, consisting of experienced golfers, some with over 30 years of play and countless rounds at Brookside. Unfortunately, a course marshal named Cristina repeatedly harassed multiple groups in our party. She spoke in a loud, condescending, and aggressive manner, treating grown adults like children. On the 18th hole, she ordered a golfer to pick up his ball mid-play and stood directly behind yelling, "Chip, chip, chip!" despite there being no immediate group pressing us from behind. She also ordered carts to be moved abruptly and instructed another flight to skip an entire hole. We fully understand the importance of pace of play, but her approach was unnecessarily disrespectful and escalated what could have been handled calmly and professionally. This behavior took away from what should have been an enjoyable and celebratory round. Very disappointing, especially given Brookside's otherwise strong reputation. read more

Played Monday, May 25, 2026. Played Course 2 (EO Nay) 2:00 tee time. Pace of play was good, which was a surprise for a holiday. Greens were decent, rolling fast. Otherwise, the course was in poor shape. Dry, rock-hard fairways, rough around the greens looks like goats were feeding for months. Bunkers were hard packed sand; some firm as concrete. Haven't played course #1 in a year, but believe it's a little better. Rate are up perhaps 50% in the last year. There are just too many events that damage the course to be taken seriously. Overall experience is decent only because they have two courses, decent driving range and also a decent club house. However, I would skip this place and play any City of LA course, Simi Hills, etc. read more

I was a little worried knowing we were playing at Brookside considering the awful reviews. Full disclosure, I play LA County courses every week so my expectations are not high. I even play Willowick in Santa Ana occasionally where it's not unusual to share a tee box with a homeless person. So I was surprised when I found Brookside to be a fun and long layout in decent shape considering it doubles for a Rose Bowl parking lot. On a weekday, I paid less than 60 bucks to ride, including the 10 dollar deposit. The fairways were decent enough, definitely comparable to standard County courses. The greens were also fine. A few were recently punched, but not enough to ruin the round. My only gripe would be that a number of the holes were deemed cart path only. In fact, if you didn't notice the warning on the cart and drove onto the fairway an alarm would sound and your cart would shut down, forcing you to back up. This caused us to play a little slower, but nothing huge. In fact, despite a few long 450 plus long par 4's, the course is very walkable. I'd probably choose to walk if I played there again. I think if you go there expecting a country club experience that matches the nearby mansions you will be disappointed, but if you go there expecting a fun round with a few nice surprises (plush carts with nav screens and Blu-tooth speakers) at a decent price, you will be pleased. I lost a bet sand I met a friend here so he could teach me how to hit a golf ball. There are two 18-hole courses and a nice size driving range. We arrived at 9 am and had a drink at the bar first. (My belief is that It's 5 0'clock somewhere.) Afterwards, we headed across the way to the golf shop to purchase a bucket of balls for $15. They don't rent clubs, so you have to bring your own. My friend was kind enough to buy me my own club because he is left-handed and I wouldn't be able to use his. By 10 a.m. the range was busy, but we were able to get a spot fairly quickly. I'll be honest, hitting the ball is much harder than it looks. There was a nice gentleman next to us, who has been playing for 43 years. He was kind enough to give us some pointers on our form and even cheered when I got a few good shots in. It was a fun day overall. read more

Thinking of trying out a new course? Considering spending a little more to play a nicer one? Do yourself a favor, and look elsewhere. Obviously, ratings for Brookside are pretty low, so you know what chances you're taking. But in case you're still reading, here's my official list of reasons I will never play Brookside again. 1. The grounds are the worst I've ever played, and I've played hundreds of courses. More than half of the tee boxes were closed for renovation, and most of the fairways were brown (sometimes from huge swaths of dead grass, and sometimes from absolute bare dirt or mud). Yes, in the fairways. No, it wasn't dead heat of the summer. This was early June, before the heat hit. This course, with the greens fees as high as they were ($60/person), should have been in spectacular condition. Which leads me to... 2. They use the golf course as a PARKING LOT for the Rose Bowl events. That's right. A parking lot. And apparently there was some big event coming up the day we were playing, because they'd hired a team to go out and paint stripe the fairways WHILE WE WERE PLAYING! They had zero regard for golfers, and just drove back and forth across the fairways, prepping the course to have thousands of cars on it. 3. Signage was pretty bad. I mean, it's an issue with almost every course to some degree or another. But when you get so lost it takes a course marshall to escort you back to the hole you were supposed to be on? Come on... 4. The carts all have GPS tracking on them, which would be cool if (a) it worked properly, and (b) if the staff programmed it right. I understand some holes are "cart path only." But really, what are you trying to protect? The dead grass? Or the dirt? And for some reason our cart kept going into some goofy alarm mode, and beeping at us as if we were off course, when we were legitimately on the concrete path, headed to the next tee box. PRO TIP: Put it in reverse, and you can go wherever you want. Ironically, I played one of my best rounds ever that day, despite the horrible conditions. But I can only imagine how much better my score might have been if all my fairway shots weren't from hard-packed dirt and mud. Never again. read more

The café is great - good service and a pleasant atmosphere. The driving range gets 4 out of 5 because it doesn't have a cover. There are a lot of golf holes/courses - definitely 5 out of 5. However, the fairway quality isn't always the best - I'd give it 3 out of 5. read more

Our event is not until Late June 2025, but I personally feel comfortable that Mayra will be helping us in every step to make our event fun and memorable. read more

For the price of golf, I'd recommend going elsewhere. Horrible conditions, hit the fairway and be punished with a trash lie or sprinklers going off during the round. The prices increased due to their fancy golf cart upgrades but that money should have been spent on the course maintenance. read more

I've always liked this course and have been coming here for years. It's got its ups and downs with the quality of the fairways and greens but, overall, it's great to have these two course available in the SGV! Something to keep in mind is that they've recently changed their booking process which is not really great because of nonrefundable fees in some cases and deposits being taken while booking that are applied at the time you check in. It's just different but not necessarily better. read more

Our foursome walked this course (Koiner) on 3/30/26. We were the only ones walking, carts in front and behind us. As we finished hole 9 the Marshall told us we were 2 holes behind (we weren't, we were prob 2 strokes behind) and we had to "keep it moving or skip a hole, the group behind us is complaining ". We tried to explain that we were the only group walking and the group behind us wasn't waiting for us to finish our holes, but the Marshall became more aggressive/demeaning/rude. The Marshall and then the starter began chipping at us stating we had to move it or skip a hole as we walked past the club house to the 10th tee box. This behavior was, in my opinion, unprofessional and unnecessary. They could have handled it in a much more diplomatic manner. Doubt we will play this course again due to the negative experience. read more

On July 5th, I played a round of golf here. I was unaware that the course had been used as a parking lot for the 4th of July fireworks celebration. Despite having an early tee time, the course should have been closed for cleanup. Cleanup crews were scattered throughout the golf course, attempting to clear the debris from the previous night's festivities, with little concern for their safety. They were at times in the direct line of play, which was concerning. The course was left with tire marks and trash from the event. I was surprised that they were still charging holiday rates, rather than the usual rates. Typically, this course is great for early tee times, and I would suggest that they allow ample time and space for cleaning crews to clear up after events such as football games or concerts. read more

I just attended the First Tee of Pasadena at Brookside Golf Club, and was very impressed. First off the course looked beautiful, with several guests commenting on how pure their putts were rolling. The staff was attentive and super helpful, treating us like VIPs. They had In and Out burgers supporting the event which was a big hit too. This is a very busy golf course in the 626 area. Compare to other courses, Brookside is a pretty long and challenging course that requires good course management skills. Even par for the ladies is 75. The lady at the starter was very friendly and nice that she gave me some pointers of this course as this was my first time playing here. Unfortunately, I played here on a rainy day, and it was freezing. I would love to come by on a good day, and play again. Plenty of parkings are available, but it could be far from the club house. Carrying your golf bag on a hot summer day might be an issue. read more

Whats the point of installing TOP TRACER at the driving range BUT then only use LIMITED flight golf balls? Are you trying to trick everyone!?! Add it to the list of very poor management decisions and treatment of this golf community. The constant sell out to other events at the expense of our golf resource is a joke. I regret ever playing at Brookside Golf Club. I paid $60 expecting a decent round of golf, but what I got was a complete disappointment. The course was in terrible condition from start to finish. Over half of the tee boxes were under repair, the fairways were a mix of dead grass and packed mud, and there was no sense of proper maintenance anywhere on the course. To make matters worse, there were workers actively painting stripes on the fairways while we played--because, unbelievably, the course is used as a parking lot during Rose Bowl events. That's right: I paid $60 to play on what is effectively a parking lot. I left feeling frustrated, insulted, and completely ripped off. Brookside Golf Club will not be getting my business again. read more

My first time visiting Brookside. A great place to come play golf. There are two 18 hole courses. However, their on course snack bar was closed. Their restaurant closes at 6pm on Saturday. Our group shared appetizers and had drinks at the 19th after our round. A very enjoyable day. read more

Regan, the pro shop employee needs to work on his customer service skills. If you arrive early, he makes you wait until your time before checking you in even if there's open tee times. The same goes for the Joe, the guy that gives you the cart keys, not very friendly at all. Everyone else provides excellent service, I've been a players club member for about two years and play two times a week on average. Not happy at all with Regan's lack of service skills and failure to provide and enjoyable golfing experience. Hopefully this can result in better service going forward. read more

This review is for the two festivals I attended here: Cruelworld Festival 2022 and the Pasadena Daydream festival in 2019. Both times I've been here I've had a great time. I like to call it a mini Coachella because there were three stages and walking involved but it was not nearly as far or big and the entertainment quality was top notch. The weather was 90 degrees plus for both festivals and there weren't that many shady areas so sunscreen is a must. I'd recommend finding a spot with shade so you don't burn during the day and just staying there until the sun goes down. This year we parked at the bowl and it only took about 20 minutes to get out of the parking lot and on the freeway after the show. In 2019 we parked pretty far and took a shuttle to the venue and back. I would not do that again as it's as much walking than waiting and after a long day I'd rather wait in the car than walk a couple miles to the car. My friends and I attended Cruelworld this past weekend and even though they had a list of things you couldn't bring in, they didn't really check. I had a hydration pack and the website said you could only bring it in empty with no liquid and no outside food or drinks were allowed. I packed snacks because this festival was vegan and I didn't want to wait in lines to get food and they never checked my bag. They would only check if the metal detector went off. I suggest bringing a hydration pack that is full of water because the hydration stations disappeared after a few hours and the only other option was to wait in line to buy water and the lines were always long. The place itself is really nice since it's a golf course. It's surrounded by hills and homes so it doesn't feel like you're at a concert venue, it feels more like a really nice concerts in the park. If you have a chance to attend a music festival here, I'd highly recommend it. read more

(Brookside #1) and I know the Pasadena championship was played here Recently so the course is in excellent condition. The greens were rolling smooth and not too fast. The carts had GPS in them and were great shape! Pete in the pro shop was very nice and the Tournament Director Philip was very helpful in helping me obtain a tee time for our team play finals. The fellas and I have generally tried to avoid this place because these issues aren't new- don't think "but the drought" has created them- it's been this way for years, but today was far and away the worst I've ever seen it: fairways are super dried out to the point that they're cracked (like salt flats), more dead grass than not (see the pic i've attached, thats center fairway) and also- someone apparently was distracted when fertilizing the greens, because several of them have deep, rusty looking chemical burns the length of the green, in a straight line- making literal mini ravines across them! I could keep going. It's a complete disaster. I cannot emphasize the poor condition. It would almost be comical if it weren't so sad. 67$ too! Also- we play all over LA- haven't seen anything remotely close to Brookside's conditions. Hard pass from here on out. read more

First time here. Came for a seminar about Capital Gains Tax. The room was a little small so they had to set up an additional table for some people. The luncheon was good: salad, pasta, deli sandwiches, and some baked goods. The staff was attentive and cleared our plates quickly when we were done. The restroom was a short walk away and it was very clean. Parking was free in lot 1 and it was a short walk. There's also free street parking closer to the golf club but pay attention to the time so that you don't get a ticket. Checked out the club a little after the class. Golf course looked nice from where I was standing. There were some people eating at The Grill. I can hear a TV playing in the background. They also had a gold shop, but I didn't go in. read more

You have read all the reviews and should know what to expect here. It's the only regulation sized golf course in Pasadena and it is in the beauftiful Arroyo surrounding the iconic Rose Bowl, so it's going to be a little more expensive than the county or LA City courses. Also it is kind of a disaster if there has been a concert or game in the last 48 hours. But the courses are fun, challenging, and generally fairly well kept, with greens that are diabolical if they have them rolling. Play course 1 from the tips and shoot the worst round of your life, I dare you! Or play the short, challenging course 2 and feel like you're shooting a million, only to realize that the three putt on 18 is all that kept you from breaking 80 (it's the first place I ever did, during CIF in HS!). Whatever you do, don't hit a ball into the Rose Bowl from the 9th (18th for us old timers) tee, you might hurt somebody and it was cooler when we did it in the 80s with the old equipment. Is this really a five star golf experience? No, but it's a five star LIFE experience, so go for it. read more

On my third shit halfway down the first hole, the starter drives up in a cart and tells us we didn't pay and had to return to the clubhouse. I left my rangefinder in the golf cart. Immediately called and they said call tomorrow. Called next day, cross my fingers! No.... They didn't find it! So many golf courses in America, and most of them I get my lost from golf courses. Brookside Golf Course is one of location! I've never gotten back lost things! I have played golf at Brookside Golf Course for over thirty years, the greens and fairways were among the best for a public golf course, unfortunately this is no longer the case. For that last few years the fairways have deteriorated and not well maintained, I along with many golfers who play Brookside regularly attribute the decline to the City of Pasadena's emphasis on enriching the city's coffers. The course's fairways are utilized as a parking lot for events at the Rosebowl, this was seasonal mostly during college football season, now the course is utilized for numerous venues especially various music concerts, the course is often closed in preparation of and during these events as well as breaking down. I am sure this is lucrative for the City of Pasadena but unfortunately at the expense of golfers who probably generate only a fraction of what concerts and parking does. It is a real shame though as Brookside was once one of the nicer public golf venues in Southern California, I would not recommend this course, and the golf club which I am a member will no longer consider Brookside for our club tournaments. read more

The balls come over the fences occasionally near West Drive by the golf course. I have had three near misses, the ball whistling near my shoulder. My wife also experienced having a golf ball whiz past her, very near. There were at least two events in the past where someone was critically injured when a golf ball which was driven from the course struck them in the head. I enjoyed the Brookside Golf Club. Could it install a higher fence around their property, particularly along West Drive north of parking lot K. Maybe the city of Pasadena could pay for it. A tall screen was constructed some time ago near Salvia Canyon Road and West Drive. The way I see it: A protective barrier should be constructed along West Drive between parking lot K and W Washington Blvd. I don't see balls going west up Salvia Canyon Road. read more

Jan 2023 I attended an event here recently. It's been a while, but the club is as mediocre as it's ever been. There are beautiful views of the golf course from floor to ceiling windows, but the room itself is relatively generic and basic. The buffet was also basic and wasn't being kept up. I had a drink from the bar with a friendly bartender. The biggest problem? Lack of COVID-era hygiene. There were no hand sanitizers anywhere; especially needed at the buffet table where the serving pieces weren't being refreshed. The buffet just didn't feel safe in a triple-respiratory illness environment. I can't recommend Brookside, but I never could. Their prices must be a real value, because I don't consider them competitive in any other way. read more

Decent golf courses... for a parking lot. The greens are are in decent shape; but, some of the fairways are in poor condition because the course is frequently used as a parking lot for the Rose Bowl. The starters and other staff are always super nice and helpful. Course 1 is long with larger greens. Course 2 is shorter with pretty challenging greens guarded by nasty bunkers requiring precise approach shots. Several greens have severe slopes that will challenge even the best putters. If you don't like 5 hour rounds then go early in the morning on weekends or go on weekdays. read more
