I was a little worried knowing we were playing at Brookside considering the awful reviews. Full disclosure, I play LA County courses every week so my expectations are not high. I even play Willowick in Santa Ana occasionally where it's not unusual to share a tee box with a homeless person. So I was surprised when I found Brookside to be a fun and long layout in decent shape considering it doubles for a Rose Bowl parking lot. On a weekday, I paid less than 60 bucks to ride, including the 10 dollar deposit. The fairways were decent enough, definitely comparable to standard County courses. The greens were also fine. A few were recently punched, but not enough to ruin the round. My only gripe would be that a number of the holes were deemed cart path only. In fact, if you didn't notice the warning on the cart and drove onto the fairway an alarm would sound and your cart would shut down, forcing you to back up. This caused us to play a little slower, but nothing huge. In fact, despite a few long 450 plus long par 4's, the course is very walkable. I'd probably choose to walk if I played there again. I think if you go there expecting a country club experience that matches the nearby mansions you will be disappointed, but if you go there expecting a fun round with a few nice surprises (plush carts with nav screens and Blu-tooth speakers) at a decent price, you will be pleased. I was.

The café is great - good service and a pleasant atmosphere. The driving range gets 4 out of 5 because it doesn't have a cover. There are a lot of golf holes/courses - definitely 5 out of 5. However, the fairway quality isn't always the best - I'd give it 3 out of 5.

On July 5th, I played a round of golf here. I was unaware that the course had been used as a parking lot for the 4th of July fireworks celebration. Despite having an early tee time, the course should have been closed for cleanup. Cleanup crews were scattered throughout the golf course, attempting to clear the debris from the previous night's festivities, with little concern for their safety. They were at times in the direct line of play, which was concerning. The course was left with tire marks and trash from the event. I was surprised that they were still charging holiday rates, rather than the usual rates. Typically, this course is great for early tee times, and I would suggest that they allow ample time and space for cleaning crews to clear up after events such as football games or concerts.

Fairway condition (08-2025) also check the sprinkles going off on the left during the round.

For the price of golf, I'd recommend going elsewhere. Horrible conditions, hit the fairway and be punished with a trash lie or sprinklers going off during the round. The prices increased due to their fancy golf cart upgrades but that money should have been spent on the course maintenance.

Simple bar 4 starts for happy hour prices. Good cocktails. I was impressed! Stopped by after walking 3.5 miles around the Rose Bowl.

Just one of the many cow pasture fairways.

This is what happens when you take a 4 star course then park cars on it for a couple months. Every so often letting people play golf while it's a 2 star course, and still charging the full price.

    good food

Great place, Was worried from reviews about pace of play but not many people when we went. Went on a Monday course #2. Course in decent shape, greens are good rolling pretty quick. Some fun holes out there. Hit the happy hour after, food was solid for a good price. Will be back!!

This is a very busy golf course in the 626 area. Compare to other courses, Brookside is a pretty long and challenging course that requires good course management skills. Even par for the ladies is 75. The lady at the starter was very friendly and nice that she gave me some pointers of this course as this was my first time playing here. Unfortunately, I played here on a rainy day, and it was freezing. I would love to come by on a good day, and play again. Plenty of parkings are available, but it could be far from the club house. Carrying your golf bag on a hot summer day might be an issue.

    Beautiful clear morning

Greens aren't in the best shape but they are decent for the cost of the round. There is also a proshop with all you need and more to play a round. I highly recommend Alhambra Golf course!

He took the time to walk me through the fundamentals step by step, and what really stood out to me was how he explained not just the how, but the why behind each movement. His ability to break down the physics of the swing in a clear, easy-to-understand way made a huge difference in how quickly I was able to grasp the basics. Beyond that, he's consistently positive and encouraging--especially when I get frustrated. He's quick to remind me to have fun and enjoy the process, which has helped me stay motivated. Every session is well-structured, and he always follows up with drills and a practice plan so I know exactly what to work on between lessons. Even outside of our sessions, he's responsive and generous with his time. I've texted him questions I forgot to ask during our lessons, and he always replies with helpful advice. Something I was worried about with getting lessons was not getting my money's worth. Sometimes instructors can be very chatty and I don't feel like I'm getting an actual full hour's worth of a lesson. If that is something you're concerned about, please consider Nowndale! Every time I come in for a lesson, it is jam packed with information and practice time. He really focuses on the lesson and your improvement. I feel very comfortable asking him questions (even if they feel silly) and he'll kindly answer and help me understand. I really have nothing negative to say. This one-star review is not directed at Eaton Canyon as a golf course, restaurant, bar, or driving…read morerange. It is specifically about the young brunette woman with a terrible attitude who works at the front desk and consistently displays a rude and unprofessional attitude. I do not know her name, and this is not a personal attack--it is simply an honest account for anyone visiting Eaton Canyon. I'll bet just by my brief description, young brunette woman with a shitty attitude, the existing staff knows exactly who I'm talking about. My brother and I have spent thousands of dollars here this year alone. We come nearly every weekend, spend generously at the bar, and always follow the rules. We've never once tried to sneak food, drinks, or free rounds. This past weekend we prepaid for our morning tee time through Golf Now. At check-in, we also requested a replay round for the afternoon and a bucket of balls to warm up. The gentleman checking us in charged me, I tapped my phone to pay, and we went on our way. No issues. After finishing our morning round, we had lunch at the bar. When we returned for our afternoon round, while waiting at the 1st tee, the young woman at the clubhouse shouted from a distance, "The cart return is over there." My brother replied, "We're not returning the cart--we're about to play our round." She yelled back, "You didn't pay. You have to pay or leave now." I calmly walked over to her to sort things out, but she was immediately argumentative and confrontational. She raised her voice at my brother and refused to listen to me as I tried to explain. I told her respectfully that if there was a miscommunication and our replay round had not been paid, I had no problem paying again. The gentleman working alongside her handled the situation professionally. I showed him the charge on my phone, and he even called the staff member who checked us in earlier. During this process, the young brunette came back out and told us, "I'm done with you. You guys need to get out of here. Dead ass. You guys need to get out of here or I'll call the cops." She then grabbed the gentleman by the arm, pushed him inside the clubhouse, and slammed the door in our faces. To be clear, I never cursed or raised my voice. My brother and I were calm and sober. This was completely uncalled for. After this, we respectfully drove the golf cart to my car. Loaded our bags and then returned the cart to the designated area. I want to reiterate that this review is not aimed at anyone else at Eaton Canyon. Ruby, Jason, Theodora, and every other staff member we've met have always been 100% professional and welcoming. We get along with many regulars + members and have even been invited to join the club. Up until this incident, our experience with staff, crew, and fellow guests has always been excellent. That is why this situation is so disappointing. It is unusual and concerning that Eaton Canyon management would allow someone with such a consistently unprofessional attitude to represent the front desk. On the day in question, she was even dressed unprofessionally in a Cowboys jersey--not in Eaton Canyon attire. I encourage management to review the security footage, speak to the bar staff, and evaluate the reputation my brother and I have built at this course versus the behavior of this one employee. I can understand miscommunication and frustration, but no guest should ever be treated the way we were--with rudeness, shouting, and threats. Eaton Canyon is a wonderful course with a great staff, but this one individual damages the experience for loyal customers.
