Finding PetCo in Verona was one of the best perks for our Lab as I was at their location this morning. First, the level of communication was very positive walking in the door. Additionally, the store appeared neat and orderly. I did ask for the Manager as I wanted to commend her on how important it is to me and our Stella to have such a well-managed facility. The dog wash stations are modern. Their entry consist of several (small) steps up into the actual "tub", which is a spacious rectangle. Towels are made available at the front of the tub, stacked within niches. (More on towels in this review.) The hose/nozzle will deliver warm/hot water after holding it ON a minute or two; there are no ON and OFF or HOT/COLD faucets. The height of the tub works very well for me as it is much safer than using our tub at home. I was able to lean over to wash our dog without straining my back. Also, the "lip" is very wide which prevents slipping and sliding should the dog be able to leave the tub. (I prefer not to use the short lead on her in the tub as it prevents me from turning her around easily.) The Self-Service Dog Wash is $20 with no time limit. There were no other doggie parents at the time I was there (11AM, Friday.) There were plenty of towels however, most, if not all, were quite threadbare and needed replacement. I did bring my own (thick) towel to dry her and finished up at home as I did not see a blow dryer which was OK. Despite this one (towel) observation, I highly recommend the Verona PetCo. I registered as well during my visit.

I honestly believe the groomers have potential and should be trained better. But if you honestly aren't comfortable doing a dog's haircut, i rather the honesty and not the mess up. I have a bernedoodle and asked to have him short for the summer with some poofiness on the top of his head. I even showed picture inspiration. I'm thinking they'll fluff him out and shorten his hair, NOPE. FIRST of all, it took 5 hours and a half. Absolutely too long. SECOND, my dog is shaved down to the skin, they said he had some matt's but i'd think they'd brush it out or even call to ask if i wanted him shaved down to the skin because of this. Nobody notified me. THIRD, he wasn't even fluffed out brushed nothing. It looks like they air dried him the whole time. Probably why it took 5hrs??? This is the second time…read morewe brought him to Petsmart for a cut and can't believe they had the audacity to do such a thing. First of all, he's a golden doodle but I'm sure you can't tell because of how RIDICULOUS he looks. Second of all, they cut 3 out of 4 legs down, who TF even does that? He was left with patches all over his body. Only 1/2 of his face was shaved, and one eyelash was cut. He came home in the most sad/depressed mood ever! He's the happiest and friendly dog ever and to see the shame, embarrassment and sadness in his eye was just heartbreaking. This is wildly unacceptable, if the groomer doesn't have the skill level to cut the dogs hair this is something that the manager needs to handle professionally and 1. Assign someone who has the proper experience 2. Reschedule the appointment for when someone is available to actually do a great job 3. STOP the haircut once you know that it's not going to be what the client is asking for and expecting. Third of all, the store manager called us stating the grooming appointment could not be completed, mind you this call was made after Milo had already been there for 3 hours. Make it make sense! Then the groomer STEVEN let's us know the haircut was "completed" but when we arrived to pick Milo up, he told us that he couldn't finish the cut and didn't give an explanation as to why. I can't help but think about what Milo endured during this disgusting experience. To make matters worse, I know it's hard to think about this getting worse but Steven told us to "have a good day"! HOW Steven, how could we possibly have a good day when you made our dog look like he has no home and he's been struggling on the streets. Fourth of all, I WARN you, do not fall victim to this horrible experience with your pet.
