I was really surprised by Brophy Bros. The quality of the food was excellent, and having such a beautiful oceanfront location with reasonable prices made the experience even better. We ordered the New York Steak, and the seasoning was done really well. The steak had great flavor and was cooked nicely. The Seabass was also excellent and another highlight of our meal. We also ordered two cups of clam chowder to go along with our dishes, and it was a nice addition to the meal. Our server Michael was very friendly and funny, which made our dining experience even more enjoyable. Since this restaurant is right by the ocean, parking can be a little challenging, and the restaurant can get quite crowded and noisy. Going to Brophy Bros is pure nostalgia for me. Dunking that sourdough bread into their clam chowder made me just as happy now as it did when I was younger. Yes, you're going to have to wait, but once you put your name down, you can walk around the harbor. Once you're seated, they are pretty efficient with getting drinks and delivering complimentary bread and butter (something that's getting increasingly rare). I love that their entrees come with either soup or salad, instead of costing extra. The food is probably closer to a four, but it's better than I expected, considering the setting. Definitely sit outside if you can so you can enjoy the view of the harbor - inside is a bit noisy. I got the swordfish and my husband ordered the seafood pasta. Portions are generous. In retrospect, we could have split the pasta and ordered another cup of clam chowder as there was so much food. Service is friendly. 7/28/26 Four star view and service three star food. After a long wait to get in we were seated on the outside deck on a beautiful day just looking out at the boats and harbor made the wait worth it. Our server who was knowledgeable and very sweet took our order of GBCs - garlic baled clams and clam chowder. The food arrived in a timely manner and we began to eat. staff is incredibly nice, we had Tatyana, I didn't get the hostess name but being new parents we had to bring our stroller everywhere and we found out they don't have access. The bar and outside patio seating filled up quickly shortly after we arrived and we were there on a Wednesday for lunch. It seem like a lot of locals/regulars showed up as the bartender and shellfish shucker seemed to know them. My friend loves their Bloody Marys, so he ordered one and I had a beer. We had 1/2 dozen Oysters and Cherry Stone Clams, along with Garlic Baked Clams and a bowl of New England Clam Chowder. The seafood was amazing, the gentlemen that was shucking the oysters and clams was phonomenal ... not one piece of shell, so clean, so fresh. The baked clams and chowder are also amazing. I can go on and on about this place. You know it's a major establishment when you have your locals always coming in. This location is at the Santa Barbara Harbor. There's another location in Ventura Harbor but this is my favorite. Even before they open, there's always a line forming. People rush in for the bar seating that looks out to the waterfront. There's patio section along the side but it's more for smaller groups and it's narrow. A decent size restaurant inside with more tables as well as the tables outside. They don't seat you till your whole party is here. Also some seating downstairs. I think bar counter is first come. Service is alway great and the staffs are alway so sweet and friendly. Menu, petty much seafood as it should be. There's also a full bar. If it just two of us, we love the bar seating but if it's a group, a table is better. Easier to communicate. Food wise, alway the hot platter which consist of both bake oysters and claims. Then you have the steam mussels, clams and peel and eat shrimp in a nice wine broth. Is worth it. Of course you have to have the clam chowder. Small cup size but better to get the bowl to share. Also comes in a bread bowl option. Then there's the poke salad in a bed of mixed greens with fried wonton chips and a heaping of fresh tuna. Easy eat both for a meal or sharing. The two main dish that we never skip out on, the seafood pasta and ciopinno. Pasta, linguine with nice big chunks of shrimp and scallops with tomatoes and cheese. Simple but so good. It's a must and then you have the ciopinno. First off, the price is amazing. A nice big bowl of broth with loads of seafood and then topped with loads of cheese. It's definitely a MUST. There's other dishes that we do get but we have our regulars that is always a must. The food is alway amazing and very filling. They claim to have a waitlist on Yelp, but the waitlist was closed that day. However, once you get on the list, you can use Yelp to track your spot, so that was helpful. Try to get a table outdoors. Family day in Santa Barbara and we finally got around to Brophy Bros. The location is really something, right in the harbor with that perfect coastal vibe. The space is intimate and cozy, and if you have time to wait for a spot on the upstairs patio it's well worth it. But in Feb, we ate the Brophy Bros in Ventura and it instantly became my favorite seafood place! In March, we hit both SB lunch one day and Ventura dinner the next, lol. Tall woman had awesome awareness of the bar eaters, water got topped off before even asking, just awesome hustling workers. I've wanted to try the fish of the day sandwich when ate dinner at Ventura the month before, and this was the perfect chance for lunch. Fish was ahi, which I usually don't go for since I don't care much for the usual ahi that's seared. But wanted to try the sandwich so got it anyway to see. To my surprise, it was a cooked through ahi, even better! A nice thick cut of ahi, I was impressed! But we know how a cooked thru ahi can be dry. Not here! As I was noticing since Ventura dinner, Brophy Bros knows how to cook fish perfectly, without being overcooked, just perfect! Great fish + tartar sauce in a sandwich? I love it! Only way to improve their fish sandwich is maybe with an improved bread over the generic sliced bread. I would probably say the scampi was my personal favorite dish of the night -- so buttery with a generous serving of prawns. I got the seafood pasta which was also great, just maybe a little healthier tasting than the scampi, and the scallops in the dish were cooked beautifully. We also tried the salmon with rice pilaf and salad on the side and while it may not have been the best salmon dish ever, it was definitely up there. This was one of the most popular restaurants during our trip to SB. It's by the harbor with a nice view, friendly staff, decent food, but cramped seating. My gf and I are relatively small, but in our table of two we both felt quite cramped and often stepped on each other's toes when we extended our legs after keeping them tucked under our seats; but I suppose this is what they'll need to do to meet the demand. There were also a lot of flies on the side, which never got on my food but frequently got within inches from my face. I'm not sure how much control they have over this though. Food: Definitely get the chowder, it was delicious! But the garlic baked clams appetizer was okay and overpriced. The seabass was also as dry as it looked in the photo. I usually eat seabass from costco home cooked on a pan or even air fryer, usually very juicy. So I was surprised and quite disappointed at how burnt and dry it was here. The fries were good though! But their complimentary bread was also room temp with solid butter, which was kind of unappetizing and hard to spread. It would've made a world of difference if it was served hot so the butter could melt. I ordered 1 main course and she ordered 1 appetizer, we shared.
