Ordered the regular fish and chips and my wife got the sea bass. The fish and chips were super flaky and light, and the tartar sauce and cocktail sauce were honestly the best I've ever had. This place is very charming with great views of the boat docks. It was a little busy but we got seats within 15 mins. The downstairs clam bar had limited items from the menu, but had plenty of seats. We ordered the oyster Rockefeller and it was huge, perfectly cooked with a lot of flavor. The burger was decent and the grill fish sandwich (Mahi Mahi was the fish when we went) and was also tasty. Fries were awesome and the pile on the veggies for the sandwich/burger. The clam chower was really good. Wasn't clammy tasting at all. Wow, the view was spectacular! Was it worth the wait of about an hour on a Sunday around 5pm? Yes, but with the knowledge that the food was good not amazing. We brought my FIL and SIL to Santa Barbara for the day and enjoyed the weather, the art for sale on the beach and headed to an early dinner at Brophy Bros. We asked to sit outside and people watched and talked while we waited for our table. Once we were seated, the waitress and waitstaff made us feel rushed to eat and leave. This isn't one of those places with a great location and bad food and drinks. You get it all here at Brophy's. Parking can be a little tough on weekends, but it's worth the effort. My favorite dish is the sea bass. It's super flaky and flavorful with blackened seasoning. It comes with a side of fries and coleslaw. I dream of it. I live closer to the Ventura location, but there is something magical in this one. I am from the area originally, we went on Wed March 18th. They don't have an option to reserve seats for anything over 4 online. We were staying at the Hilton Virginia minutes from the location. I purposely had my (Italian) wife go in because we're at the harbor and I didn't want issues as a 6'1" 290lb black man, I know how it goes. I heard her be told were on the list and would be given our seats within an hour (we were sent a text verification). Around 7:04 my parents show up the restaurant. My father called and said we weren't on the list. My wife has an obvious name and the same person was"helping"us the entire time. She told him that"maybe we booked on Ventura". This in my opinion was the moment we were officially"ghosted'. This is the first indication she had the we were an interracial couple at my parents are obviously black Americans. The final time she went up was 8:15. Their are empty tables sure was told couldn't be combined and that their were two separate families overstayed their visit after paying by 2 hours and the management said nothing to them. That seems highly unlikely for a tourist are like sacred Barbara. My family has been in this area for over 50 years. I am a USCG vet and the last time I checked, money is Green. This all happened on my wife's birthday. I told my brother who is also from the area about this and he told me THE SAME EXACT THING happened to him. Do better!! read more

We were seated right away on the balcony, which offers fantastic harbor views and is one of the best things about dining here. I believe it was the manager who initially came by to take our drink and appetizer order. He was very friendly and welcoming, and our appetizer arrived quickly. Such a cool experience for late night seafood! We were looking for spot late at night to enjoy some chowder by the sea and we were fortunate to be seated on their balcony. My boyfriend & I planned to just order to-go here since we knew it wasn't dog friendly (they're located on the 2nd floor so there's no way they could pass health code allowing dogs on their small patio upstairs). A service dog was on the patio but it was a tight fit. Fortunately, while my bf was upstairs waiting to order (and a huge line to get seated formed) the hostess said the downstairs would be opening in 30 minutes and said dogs are allowed downstairs outside which worked perfectly for us! Downstairs normally opens at 12:30 pm, but he opened early-a little after 12 pm. It's not the full menu as upstairs, but it has their main staples. The clam chowder was amazing! The special fish n chips was so much better than the regular fish n chips. Staff at Santa Barbara seems more stressed. Our waiter really didnt seem to give a ****. My mom always asks "what kind of fish". His response "a white fish". When we asked about dessert, his response was pretty rude. Its fine they don't have dessert but he just seemed not to care at all nor give an accurate recommendation. He said to go downstairs, we went and were told they didnt have ice cream downstairs. I've eaten here before and I've always enjoyed the food. I came here today 5/23 to celebrate a promotion with my girlfriend. We sat outside near the outside bar area. I asked the manager to request some space between us and the outside bar but the guests were defensive and told me and my girlfriend that we did not have to eat here, verbatim. I was so offended, especially when his wife said I should wear noise cancelling headphones outside. I've never felt so disrespected at a neighborhood restaurant. All our server offered was an apology. Which I explained was that someone's behind was in my food and the waiter had to pass down my soup because he could not make his way to our table. I talked to the female manager to express our unpleasant experience twice, but she did not show any concern or was apologetic. The manager only responded that it was a busy holiday weekend. The staff was all very welcoming and accommodating. My wife opted for the seafood pasta. I decided to try the beer, battered fish and chips. Both were excellent tasting. The beer, battered fish and chips were full of flavor and were not overly greasy. It came with a side of fries and coleslaw. The restaurant was all very well maintained and clean. If you do choose to sit outdoors, I would definitely make sure you dress warm, especially during the cooler months of the year. On a quick trip down to SB to check this local tourist spot by the pier to see what the hype was all about. Place had a wait of about 15-25 mins for a party for 2. (5:30pm dinner )Took a small stroll down the pier while we waited to be called.
