We dined here yesterday and it will be our last visit. The only positive was being seated right away -- after that, the experience went downhill fast. Our kids' food and the ceviche came out quickly, but the ceviche was overwhelmingly fishy and inedible. One of our entrees also arrived with the appetizer, while the rest of our food didn't come for another 20-30 minutes. Throughout the wait, our waitress kept reassuring us that our food was "coming" -- which felt misleading and only added to the frustration. When my fish tacos finally arrived, I received 2 tacos instead of the 3 that every review I'd read mentioned. No explanation, no adjustment to the price. We went for brunch and I had fish tacos and they were very good. $21 for 3. My two dining companions had eggs Benedict with potatoes; they both commented how much meat was on the Benedict. Why are the five stars? Anyone who reads my reviews knows, I hate being offended by prices. The pricing was in line with the experience. It was a nice restaurant experience. The patio area is perfectly laid out, allowing you to soak up the gorgeous Mountain peaks and harbor views. I love watching all the boats here. What stands out the most is the gorgeous chandelier. Stationed right over the bar located inside. It's where I chose to sit on my first visit. The bar stools are just as stunning and the velvety material is perfect. For drinks, I've had the POG Margarita. Passionfruit, orange and Guava. Refreshing and Perfectly made! The Oaxacan rose, which honestly was too smoky for me. It has Mezcal, which I'm not too fond of, but still wanted to try something different. I recently had the Kobocha Colada. It's creamy, dreamy and almost tastes like dessert, yet still packs a punch! Not too sweet either. The food is delicious here! I've had the croquettes, which are made of spiced sweet potatoes. A great starter to try. For mains, I've tried the crispy salmon and Bincho burger. Both prepared perfectly and taste amazing! I especially loved the SRF Wagyu burger. It's grilled over Japanese Binchotan Charcoal. The smokiness of the charcoal shines through in every bite. So good! What a great find! We have been long-term customers of Brophy Brothers, but since they aren't dog friendly, we've been on the hunt for similar great views. Gracie's has the gorgeous views, is wonderfully dog friendly, but we were really wowed by the delicious food. The fish tacos were the best I've had for a long time. Perfectly cooked and great flavors. My husband had the pistachio salmon which was awesome and another friend had the burger which he thought was delicious. We finished it off with a shared peach cobbler, which was excellent. Service was terrific and we even meant the owner, lovely Gracie herself. This is our new fav spot in Santa Barbara!! read more

Excellent food. There are many water front restaurants in Santa Barbara. Most of them don't even have to try to be good. They are overpriced with blah food. Gracie is NOT one of them. My meal was GREAT here! I had the ceviche to start. It was refreshing, citrusy, nice on a warm evening. For my main dish I had the Coq au Vin. It was excellent. Chicken cooked absolutely perfectly tender. Could not get enough of the sauce which was rich and creamy. The chocolate mousse was my dessert. Just so rich and excellently put together. The views are serene and beautiful from the patio tables. My only suggestions are; as a single diner I am completely fine, and expect to be, seated at a two top. But when there are plenty of free two tops not parked next to the restroom and service station why would you seat someone there? There were three two tops near the front of the patio. One gets tired of this as a single diner when tables are open and you are paying good money. The manager was doing a great job with a pretty young and seemingly inexperienced wait staff. Sitting next to the service station it was disconcerting to hear their conversations, loud, and at times inappropriate, taking away from the ambience. Also, I ordered Chardonnay and it was very good. Located at the harbor have a meal and drink with a view. The service is attentive and friendly from the moment that you come in. Beware that they are packed during lunch time, but we were still able to get a table for four immediately. I ordered the kale and chicken salad which was spectacular. The chicken was grilled to perfection and not dry. The kale salad had date and lemon vinaigrette which pulled the salad flavors together. Another item that looked spectacular was the tuna melt served open. The steak and frites, order the fries! Their matcha piña colada (no alcohol) is perfect for a hot day. In the 10 plus years I have lived here, I have never being to Breakwater because the menu looked boring, resembled an IHOP. Finally, Gracie is now open in its place, worthy of this superb location, right next to the water. The restaurant is anchored by the bar and a large beautiful red glass chandelier. The covered patio overlook the harbor, but we chose to sit inside since there was a wait for the tables with a view. Food was solidly executed American food. I had the its banana, a strong coffee based cocktail which I enjoyed. The burger was made with a thick good quality patty and no distraction from additional toppings except cheese and aioli. Eggs Benedict was poached just right, sat on top of soft tomato, mortadella, house made focaccia, and topped with creamy hollandaise. Breakfast sandwich was also solid. Sausage and soft scrambled egg sandwich between focaccia that made appearance in various dishes through out the menu. Steak frites was pretty small, but I guess its expected consider the price of beef right now. However, the peppercorn sauce could be more robust. We're cheap tightwads! The burratta and focaccia was a great starter. The Coq au vin was exquisite! The red blend wine was good, and all of it was fairly priced. I felt the server could have checked on us more often. One thing really bugged me, though. They add 3% to the bill if you use a credit or debit card! That 3% is the cost of doing business so you either bake it into the price of everything else, or you eat it. But when you let me know that you're adding it to my bill as a separate charge, all it does is let me know you're a tightwad, and make me wonder where else you're cutting corners. Gracie's - Great potential, timing needs work Gracie's has a wonderful location, and the staff are consistently friendly and accommodating. The food itself is tasty, which is why we keep coming back. Unfortunately, kitchen-to-table timing continues to be an issue -- this wasn't a one-off. Last night, dining as a party of six, most of us received our meals staggered by about 5 minutes, which was manageable. But one person's order (the "special") never arrived even after 15 minutes, and she ended up canceling it and sharing ours instead. Everything else about Gracie's is there -- great service, good food, nice atmosphere. I really hope they can tighten up the kitchen timing, because that's the one thing holding it back. read more

The food portions were generous and satisfying. The rockfish ceviche was a great start to the meal--fresh, bright, and full of flavor. Great location on the harbor! Went here for a girls night and enjoyed the happy hour menu. We loved the drinks, especially the happy hour POG Margarita and sauv blanc. I'm usually a ceviche lover, but I wasn't super impressed. The seafood tasted fresh but I wasn't a huge fan of the flavor, and I typically prefer a tortilla or wonton chip. The prawn chips were cute but didn't do it for me in terms of texture or taste. The service was quick and friendly, so I would definitely come back to try other drinks and menu items. The outdoor seating area has plenty of tables that are covered, and the indoor area is quaint but very cute. Their happy hour menu is super reasonable and they gave each of us a complimentary glass of champagne which was so nice! You got to try your stuff before you send it out. My wife had a blueberry spritz. It was $17 and although she liked the taste, she said it was more like a mocktail.
