We dined in there for the first time today and I was impressed with the menu. I ordered an Italian beef. She asked if I wanted it all the way... peppers, au jus, etc. I said Yes. When it came out, it was one very thin little piece of what I imagine was roast beef (?), gobs of melted cheese on bread. That's it. No peppers, no au jus, no flavor. And I believe it was it was $9.70! My friend ordered a chicken Philly which he said was OK. We had chips and a drink with the sandwiches and the total was $27.00. We were visiting friends and ordered lunch from Brother John's. We used their website to order online. It was easy to navigate and it gave us a pick up time of 30 minutes. We arrived early and were happy to wait and chat in our car. The workers acknowledged us and said they had our order and would get it ready. We waited. And waited. Watched two cars drive up, order at their window, and get their food. We waited some more. Our pick up time came and went. We asked a second time about our food. Finally our food was brought out to our car - 45 min! So lesson here is to skip ordering online and just drive up to order. You will get your food faster. Fortunately the order was correct (except for one bag of chips) and the food was good. The bread was fresh and the sandwiches were tasty. read more

Absolutely awful. As a resident in Toccoa my whole life, I drove past and figured I'd stop and see if it was any good. It's 3:30pm when I stopped. On a Saturday.. any business knows there's more business on Saturdays. Anyways, I go in. The lady ask if I ordered or I need to make an order. I tell her I've never been here so I'll be ordering, she seemed moody about that. Anyways, I continued to look at the menu and then she tells me. " oh yeah, the cooks aren't using the grill now so no chicken or steak " ... what am I gonna do? Order a lettuce sandwich. I've been eating at Brother John's for my entire life, so obviously, they're doing something right. I keep going back because the sandwiches are admittedly really good; I especially like the pizza melt. However, something just feels...odd about the atmosphere in there. Oppressive isn't the word, but it's something close to that. Everything costs extra, even sauce packets. They've spun around the self-service soda fountain so that now you have to walk up and ask for a refill. The worst offense is the utterly unpredictable hours. Outside of lunchtime on weekdays (where you can expect to have a bit of a wait), they do not have regular business hours; you pretty much have to call to see if they're open at dinnertime or anytime on Saturdays (they're a Toccoa local business, so I feel you can assume that they would never be open on Sunday). You're going to get a good sandwich at Brother John's, if you can find them open, but you'll probably enjoy it better if you take it to-go. read more

Their subs are my favorite! The only drawback is that they close after lunch so if you want a fresh sub for dinner, you won't get it here.

I have an office in Lavonia, and after having visited restaurants there several times, wanted to try something different. Heard good reviews of Brother John's, so gave it a try. I had the 10" steak, all the way. Sandwich was okay, bread was fresh, meat tender. It just didn't have as much flavor as I would have hoped, but was much better than anything at Subway. They are very active in our community, especially Relay for Life. I have almost always had good experiences at this place. While perhaps not having the most glamorous sandwich toppings options (limited veggies and sauces), they offer a diverse menu with both hot and cold sub options.
