We purchased a new washer and dryer set with the extended warranty. Sixteen months after the purchase the washer quit working so we contacted the warranty company. For next four weeks we have been getting bounced back and forth between the warranty company and Brothers Main. First our claim could not be processed because Brothers Main filled out the serial number of our washer incorrectly and we got no help from Brother Main resolving the error. Then for several weeks Brothers Main did not respond to the warranty company's requests for additional information. Apparently, there is only one person who addressed warranty issues and if she is out, which she is quite often, no one else is available to address these claims. Additionally, promises to return calls or emails did not happen and when we brought this to the attention of other individuals from Brothers Main we were called rude and hung up on. The process has been a nightmare, Brothers Main does not back up their sales nor do they attempt in any way to resolve issues. They do not take responsibility for their actions and readily pass the blame on to associates of Brothers Main or employees who are not available. They said they would replace the handles(finally), the new handles were just as bad. It was supposed to come yesterday, but the truck broke down, and then ever since then, we've had empty promises -- yep, still today - - and then a startled -- you're scheduled for tomorrow as if we should have known or as if someone should have told us that. We had taken the doors off the hinges to accommodate delivery. Had to put the doors back on the hinges. So theoretically the appliance was coming today, so we took the doors off the hinges again. We were given a range of hours for when it was coming. They called to say that they were coming in twenty minutes. Two hours later, my husband called the store again. They're not coming. Seems like they have a range of people who are telling folks that their appliances are coming, but there's no reliability in those promises. We went into the store to buy a whirlpool washing machine last me. They talked us into buying a Speed Queen because they were built here in Wisconsin and they were wonderful machine, blah blah blah. We spent the extra money and purchased a speed queen washer and dryer. Over two months ago I started having issues with the washer. No one wants to help me. At first they told me no one came to the area that I live. It's too far away. Finally someone did call me, diagnosed it over the phone, said they were going to order a part and it would be in in one to two weeks. That has been almost 4 weeks ago. When I call there, no one answers and no one returns my call. I have reached out to Brother's Main many times. They tell me that they can't do anything. They did tell me on the last call that they will find out from the service place that I called and see where they were with the part. haven't heard anything from anyone. We ordered a new dishwasher from Brothers Main, as we were trying to support a local business during covid. Our sales person was very awkward and not very informative or helpful, but we were able to find something we liked. We picked a delivery date, and they let us know that a different person would be installing the dishwasher. The day it was scheduled to arrive, we had heard nothing from Brother's Main regarding delivery - not even a generic window of time. I called and was told it was on the truck, and I would get a call before they arrived. I did not get a call, they just showed up at my door, carried in the dishwasher without wearing masks and left it in the middle of my kitchen. When I asked about installation, the delivery people had no idea. I called the store back to inquire about installation and was told they would send an email to the installer to see what was up. After a few more hours without hearing anything, we called Brother's Main again and asked for the installer's cell #. We called him, and it turns out Brother's Main never contracted him to do the install that we had already paid for. Luckily he was able to fit us in that day, however he showed up after 8 pm and didn't leave until nearly midnight. The sales rep, Dale, was excellent: courteous, patient with my questions and repeated calls, informed. Suddenly, actually gradually, except still not gradually enough, I began noticing my 4 year old Frigidaire dishwasher smells like garbage. Experience informs me as does what once was known as common sense, clean the filter. Something I've routinely done all along. But still it stinks. Another occurrence, which my wife brought to my attention at about the same time, was the air lock valve along the rear of the sink recently began choking up water during the drain cycle. This resembled rotten eggs. I knew the presumed problem and resolved it, at least partially. A week later when it persisted, I dealt with it head on, and it went away. I also dismantled all the typical spinning things as well as thoroughly cleaned both the filter as well as hand scrubbed the entire stainless inner compartment. While I was already in the vicinity I removed and did the same to the door seal. Everything is spic and span. (Can you believe it? That term, which was the namesake of a cleaning product probably 3-4 generations recognize is now being challenged as a racial inference! I explored the etymology of the expression, and it's solidly in the SPOTLESSLY CLEAN realm.) No actual factual data to link to the seekers of evidence that every word and phrase in the English language is pointedly racist. So problem averted. Except it isn't. Wasn't. A week goes by and yuck scent is back. Now I run yet another cycle of vinegar to do what is supposed to be an environmentally friendly resolve. It works. But my DW has compliance issues. Four weeks ago I went to every local retailer to find the Consumer Reports top rated devises. Bosch and Kitchen Aide reign supreme. Bosch however is on a LONG back order. Universally. The three rack Kitchen Aide I want is in stock. I negotiate a deal and suddenly I am thinking that spending over $1000 without conferring with the BOSS, might lead to something less than hoped for. She was in Los Angeles with her sister, and my thoughts of a nice surprise might be the same results as stories of well intentioned husbands buying the best vacuum cleaner in the world for their brides birthday present. I think we all know how that story in reality plays out. (Personally, I REALLY want a kick ass Dyson Vac!) So to finally arrive at the part of this story you've been looking for, I finally took the chance this afternoon and bit the bullet! I returned to the store and made the purchase. Because I already did most of the salesman interaction thing and it was not at that time a thing to be negative about, all I did today was make the purchase with a different sales man. The dude who spent his time hopefully won't be informed his commission was instead awarded to the young man who happened to show up for work instead. He's happy and I suggested to him it might not be in his best interest to mention to _________ that this occurred. I justified it to him like this: "You're a young guy, you haven't been doing this for decades yet and perhaps this won't discourage you into finding another career. After that I returned to the store. Chris arranged for free install. And 1 year no interest financing. The install was done in a quick timely manner. With no mess made by the installers . My mother ordered a washing machine which was delivered and installed improperly. Brothers Main gave the run around and so my mother called a plumber. The plumber figured out the hot and cold were switched. My mother contacted Brothers Main to let them know their mistake and she was treated rudely and didn't even apologize for the inconvenience. According to the CDC they do not offer adequate protection against virus transmission. The manager was defensive and dismissive about my concerns. This is lack of concern for customers. So I left and went to Best Buy where huge signs outside and inside said proper face masks were required by all. They cared more about safety! I have tried to call the store to offer feedback and get restitution for the damaged caused but they have not responded. The delivery team refused to wear a mask on my property even when asked and provided masks. They took little care resulting in damage to my carpets and paint on doors and hallways. They set a delivery date of mid-February, and the night before the delivery, I was told on the fridge would be delivered. Apparently, they never had the other items in stock. Poor service to a whole new level Ordered a range on March 1, 2021. Was told by Gary H it could be as much as 8 weeks but more likely 4-6. After I contacted Gary many times he says yes it is in and set for delivery on Friday May 7th almost 10 full weeks after order. I take the afternoon off work so be there and they never show. I called them several times and nobody had any idea when it would arrive. Over the weekend Gary tells me he has no idea why it was not delivered but it has been rescheduled for Monday the 10th. So on Monday I take the afternoon off again and get a call 1:00. I am told the delivery guys dropped the range off the truck on THURSDAY when loading it. Range is destroyed, I NEVER got a call about it and used a day of VACATION for NOTHING. Next Gary says how sorry he is and that he will order another one on the service deal and no more than 3 weeks and most likely sooner. Then all goes quiet again. 5 weeks later and still NOTHING. I contact him and he just starts spewing more lies. Now he tells me he has some customers that have been waiting more than a YEAR for their stuff. Keep in mind I was told it would never be more than 8 weeks. So I tell him both Best Buy and Home Depot have them IN STOCK. He laughs and me and says "good luck with that, let's cancel this and you go see how that goes". So at his request I cancelled with BrothersMain and Best Buy delivered the range in 4 days. read more

No help when it comes to any type of maintenance. My two year old refrigerator (that has previously rusted on the front) now has a leaking ice machine and the freezer went out. When I called for help, Brothers Main just passed the buck. I earnestly asked if there was anything they could do, as we had purchased an entire kitchen of brand new appliances from them only two years prior, and was told no. That just doesn't seem like the type of customer service you should get from a local business. I don't mind paying for a repair, but now I'm on hold with Kitchen Aid for the past 45 minutes, because locally I could get no support. Went to the East side store, did not have stove in stock, called the West side and was told the stove was in stock for me to see, that he was looking at it as we spoke. Drove all the way over there and wow, it must have just sold. I ordered a different stove, more expensive, because it was what i could see, but a week later, got a call that they couldn't get that one after all because it was discontinued. Now I'm locked in with the sale commission going to the person who lied to get me into the West side, but I live on the east side so go back in and order a stove from someone there who doesn't get the sale. On delivery day, the stove comes with a big hole through the ceramic top and the side kicked in, despite the fact that the outside box had no damage. Then the delivery driver took out a huge branch on a 20 year old red bud tree, assured me that Brother's Main would take care of it, took pictures, apologized, felt bad; I get that it was an accident. I called the person who I was told handled these damages, left 3 messages hoping to tree could still be saved, but after 2 weeks, no return calls, cancelled my order. Eventually my condo association took it on but after repeated assurances that the person who handles it would get right back...that was 1.5 years ago. read more

I had one of the worst experiences today with Chris at Brothers Main Appliance. I came to this store from Illinois because I was looking for a specific brand of stove. On my first visit to the store I priced the stove with a relatively new salesman who could not answer all my questions. After giving me the price, he willingly turned me over to Chris to be my salesman. I told Chris I was from Illinois and he told me the delivery charge was $70. I came back a second time to take some measurements and again dealt with Chris. It was during my second visit that Chris told me the cost of the stove was several hundred dollars more than the number written in my spec. sheet. He said because he did not write the number down (the first salesman did) he was not obligated to honor it. That should have been my first clue about Chris but I gave him the benefit of the doubt that the first salesman was new and may have given me a wrong number. I decided to also buy a microwave but I told Chris I would have to come back a third time after measuring the space for the microwave. I returned a third time and Chris started filling out the paperwork for my order. When he got to my address in Illinois he said they did not deliver to Illinois. I reminded him I asked him this question during my first visit and he quoted me $70 for delivery. He just repeated that the store does not deliver to Illinois. At this point I have wasted an enormous number of hours driving to Madison, measuring my kitchen, and coming away empty handed. I'd give less than 1 star if that was an option because my experience with this store was a big zero. read more

I had a dishwasher installation problem with Brothers Main in 2017. The company blew off three follow-up letters I sent at the time and one more recent letter I sent as a last resort. Over time, the original problem receded into the background as their complete lack of response became the issue. Apparently, Brothers Main's business model is to sell appliances without regard for customer service afterwards. If you buy from these people, don't pay for installation immediately. I picked out the pair and was told I was to have it delivered on Friday morning for my area ( presently Monday) after waiting patiently 5 days. By 10 am on Friday never received a call when to expect the delivery. Called to ask when to expect the delivery and the receptionist told me that the delivery men just left and I was told that I was the last one on the list! ( I scheduled way in advance). I again called at 1:00 pm because I still didn't get a call to see where my delivery was even though I live a few miles away in the Verona area ( I was told that Friday's were for Verona). I talked to the salesman who hung up on me when I asked to speak to the manager. Of course I wanted to know where my delivery was when I was told it would be in the morning and still didn't receive any call This is the SECOND time I was shafted with poor salesmanship at the West side store. Last year I purchased a brand new dishwasher and instead received a floor mode! This time I also received horrible salesmanship. I was only trying to give this store a second chance. I explained in detail the horrible experience I had last year with the previous salesman. When I called at 1 pm and asked the current salesman if he remembered me, he had the gall to roughly say to me he can't remember his customers! These 2 salespeople both proved to me that they don't want to do their job and sell products but would prefer for the customer to pick it out in their own. They rack up the commission without doing the work! After they make the sale, they are thankfully done and don't care to follow through. I explained in detail how horrible my last purchase went last year and he had the nerve to roughly tell me he doesn't remember me. Well, this was the last straw. I immediately cancelled my delivery and 2 weeks later have not regretted my decision I immediately went to Best Buy where I received excellent service and a thorough education by a wonderful salesman who had my head spinning with all the information he provided. Bought a washer/dryer and refrigerator from the store on Stoughton Rd. (Madison) in spring of 2012. Shortly after purchase, the washer door was not latching properly. A service technician came out and "fixed" it, but it took a return trip to get the job done. A week before the one-year warranty expired on the refrigerator, the stainless steel handle on the freezer drawer snapped off. Because I called *3 days* after the warranty expired, Brothers Main wants to charge $95 for the service call, plus the cost of the replacement part. These were not low-end appliances, nor do I believe we've been particularly rough on them. We expected better quality and better customer service from a store that prides itself on not being one of the "big boxes." :( read more
