I was in the area & decided to try this place for lunch. Reviews made this spot seem promising. I loooveeee seafood so I ordered the fish & shrimp combo & added hush puppies. Food: From first look I was like "this is going to be good!" The fries were thick like me so I didn't mind the cut of them. The fish was average. It wasn't catfish & from the pics you can see how thin the fish is to the batter. The fish had a taste I didn't care for but the crust over powered most of it. I didn't finish the fish. The shrimp was over cooked. It was so thin that some parts didn't seem to have shrimp in it from the thick batter. They definitely thinned the shrimp too much. Flavor wise it was good & tasted way better than the fish. The hush puppies were the best thing I had in my box. I definitely recommend ordering them. While eating I saw a couple people order boil seafood bags. It looked good so if I'm ever in the area again I might try the boil seafood & I hope it's a hit & not a miss. Inside: The place was clean and looked taken care of. The cashier was friendly. At first she wouldn't honor the free drink that came with checking in on Yelp & said it was from 5 years ago. I was a little concerned when I walked through the restaurant's door. There was no menu board... just a lot of banners that made it clear that the house specialties are crawfish and fried rice. We settled on a couple of 1-piece fish fillet and 6 shrimp combo dinners after locating a small printed menu on the table near the cash register. One with french fries and one with sweet potato fries. The only condiment offerred was tarter sauce. Not a problem, ...we'd ordered take-out. I had ketchup and hot sauce at home and I made my own cocktail sauce. I sampled a sweet potato fry from my wife's dinner and was pleased with the flavor and texture. The same held for the french fries that came with my dinner. My wife warned me that the fish was undercooked as soon as she opened the box. Not a problem, ...we'd ordered take-out, so five minutes in the air fryer at 400°F and all was good. The fillet was large and the batter was crisp and perfectly seasoned. I'm touring different Chinese restaurants and places around Spring that serve shrimp fried rice, and Brother's Seafood has turned up the heat. From looking at the pictures here on Yelp, I just wanted a simple order and a piece of fried fish (the #3 on their menu). I called in the order, and it about 15 minutes, it was ready. The guy working there was quite polite, and the restaurant was clean with Cajun-themed decor reminiscent of my hometown of New Orleans. For social distancing, there's a shield around the checkout counter, with a table laid out for you to pay and sanitize. The food smelled amazing, as the aroma filled my truck. But I didn't want a flashback of the restaurant two doors down, whose fried rice was really, really bad... Fresh off of great news at work, this was my celebratory lunch, and I was thoroughly pleased. The Shrimp Fried Rice was well-cooked with a certain *gourmet* flavor that I wasn't expecting, and the Fried Catfish was nicely golden and crispy. I got my food at around three in the evening, and I still have a good bit of rice left--the serving was large and filling. Oh, and they gave me four packs of soy sauce. It did not come with the eggs; I added those and it did not come in the aluminum foil pan. They only have one sauce for the boiled seafood, just garlic butter, but you can get it in mild, medium, or spicy. I would describe the flavor as similar to Lotus Seafood, not exactly the same, but similar. The menu has plenty of options, however, they have the "Brothers Special shrimp fried rice" which is what I ordered. They offer it three different ways, regular, mild, or spicy. I would recommend the Mild. It has a slow heat to it with a burst of Cajun flavor. The shrimp tasts as if they were marinated in lemon butter sauce and sizzled til perfectly tender. This place has the best fried seafood in Spring, and it isn't close. My wife and I decided to try Brother's Seafood on Sunday, 08-02-2020. It was about 7:00 PM, I was hungry for some catfish, and I found Brother's Seafood on Yelp. I called in an order and then picked it up. We got six catfish fillets and 2 orders of 12 fried shrimp. Each order came with fries. The catfish: Wow. Their catfish fillets are large but thin, well breaded with a corn meal-dominated breading that is nicely seasoned, but not spicy. The fish was moist but the breading was insanely crisp. Hands down the best fried catfish that I've had in Texas. The fillets were still super crisp two hours after I got them. Amazing. The shrimp: Really good. They butterfly the shrimp so that they have a larger surface area and uniform thickness. They then bread the shrimp with the same breading as the catfish. Really good and and really, really crisp. They also have oysters (fried, grilled, or fresh), crawfish, other fish, and lobster. Another item on the menu is fried rice (in a multitude of variations); it looked really good. I'll likely be getting po'boys or the fried rice next time I visit. However, it feels like the place is being run in a haphazard manner. There were no hours posted at the store, so I'm assuming that the hours posted on Yelp and Facebook are correct. It says that they open at noon on Sunday, so we arrived at 12:15pm. There was no one there and the place was locked up. We decided to wait a bit, and at 12:20pm an employee parked, opened up, and disappeared into the back. By 12:40pm or so, we were finally able to go in and order. After that, things were fine-- we got the food and were very pleased with it! If we come back, we'll definitely call in our order ahead of time. I use to frequent this establishment. Usually get a number 3 with a pound of shrimp or crawfish. As time pass, it seem like you get less and less food compare to before. Today I ordered a "large" fried rice since the fish in the regular number 3 turned into fish nuggets at this point. A number 3 is a small fried rice and fish filet. Definitely a do-it-yourself kinda place. But the food is SO good. Viet-Cajun style seafood. When we order boiled crawfish and shrimp they always put a big plastic bag over the table and you literally put your sauces on the plastic and eat right off the table. It's a family atmosphere. We go once a week. There's a language barrier between the owners but they are always happy to serve the people in the restaurant.
