Customer service is always amazing every time I come to this location. I truly enjoyed dinner tonight with my family. We were greeted at the door and wished well as we left the restaurant. The ambiance of the restaurant is pretty cool! The history and art displayed on the wall is pretty capturing. The bottles with lights/ the cool animal decor is nice! It really pulls you in to make you feel Cajun vibes! Even the music is a vibe! It's soulful blues! I haven't been here since I was living on the Northside. So it was nice to be able to revisit again. The hostess greeted us and offered to throw away our empty cups we wanted to dispose. Then she showed us to our seats. It's very spacious and nicely decorated as if you're on Bourbon St with music playing in the background. I ordered their popcorn shrimp with cheese grits. It came with some kind of sauce but I didn't care for it with the shrimp. It was good on the hush puppies tho. The dipping sauce was so good that I wish I could've bottled some up and took it with me! The waitress was very polite and attentive. I didn't have to wait or ask for anything! I don't remember her name but she was the young tall, light skin complexed African American girl. I ordered the stuffed chicken breast(I'm a non seafood eater). I appreciated the bold flavors, unique spices, and hearty portions that are characteristic of Cajun cuisine. Their green beans were one of a kind too! A lot of Cajun restaurants pride themselves on using fresh, high-quality ingredients to create their dishes. When I got there, I noticed it was kind of hot inside. It took a while for the hostess to come get me seated. I wanted to sit towards the back where it was cooler, but there were some tables that were not cleaned up yet . They seated me towards the front, close to the entrance where it was hot. Throughout the whole time there I was sweating almost like as if I was eating hot peppers. I noticed two food runners that were making mistakes and delivering food to the wrong tables that happened twice, but my server was great! She did everything she could as far as I'm concerned! It took a while to get my appetizer and I finally got it with my drink that was flat. When I ate my appetizer, I asked for a water with lemon instead of a fountain drink. I think management should take a sip out of every one of those soft serve dispensers so they can taste what they're serving before the servers get blamed. When I got the main course. As you can see, my green beans could've been a little more than not .The pork chops were tiny and I did get a of steam vegetables In the same size bowl as the green beans. They treated the gravy like cane's sauce very small serving and the gravy didn't have any flow almost had the consistency of mashed potatoes. I think that if I was given a choice or even notified of how small those pork chops were then I would've added a couple more pork chops with more gravy. I left unsatisfied. And like I said, the server was good. She did what she could that was within her control. But I think in today's times for Restaurants to survive, they need to serve customers with something that will wow them to want to come back. I don't eat out very much but every once in a while, I'd like to enjoy the fruits of my labor. I was craving Cajun food and someone at (work) recommended this place to me! I threw those vegetables on the plate so that in my mind I can convince myself that I'm getting a lot of food but it didn't work. I mean, look at the piece of bread that they gave me! Sometimes these people think they're doing us a favor we're paying good money and they need to shell out some good food. I never saw a manager come up to me and asked me if I was OK or how I was doing. i'm not asking for something for nothing! I very rarely complain about restaurants, but It was just payday and I wanted to go out and enjoy some Cajun food on my first time visit to this place that was recommended to me. This place has really amazing food. I usually get seafood, though I've tried their other food and it's just as good. The service is always really quick and accurate as well. The ambiance does a good job of blending Texas and cajun, so I'd recommend this place to anyone from out of town and locals alike. The last time, we got the cheese dip appetizer, po boy, and cajun tricky fish. We also got the hush puppies. Pretty much everything on the menu is some variety of spicy, as to be expected with cajun. Even the hush puppies were made with jalapeño. It all turned out really good and has always been surprisingly affordable. We went last night for the first time. We past the first dining room. Empty. In the main area where we were sat, there were maybe 3-4 tables sat and someone seated at the bar. We were sat, and server after server kept walking by us. Nobody came to get our drink order for a good while. Idk if someone finally went and told our server we were there, but he came and eventually got our drink order. We waited a bit less on those and then he got our order. We waited 52 minutes for our food and never saw our server once in that time. Drinks obviously were empty. We were starving and he was behind the bar (I'm assuming the bartender) but still only 2 ppl at the bar at this point and maybe 2 more tables sat in the dining room. Someone else brought our food out. He eventually comes by, refills the drinks and asks if we need anything. We asked for some ketchup and he left. Never came back with ketchup, our plates were stacked, empty, etc. and we waited and waited. Idk why, because he could clearly see us as the bar is sat up higher than the dining room and we were the first table below. Overall, the food, while only warm by the time we got it, was good. I have been having my cravings for crawfish lately and I had to stop by with my friend on the way home from Conroe. My friend ordered a strawberry Mardi Rita which I had to taste.. SUPER YUMMY! I ordered 3 pounds of crawfish 1/2 an order of fried pickles. The crawfish was perfectly spicy but a little overdone. However the fried pickles hit the spot! I loved them! It is sad to say that we have eaten here for years and never had any complaints. Today we had Dinner, so we were seated the waitress took our drink order and appetizers. That came out and there were no small plates and utensils but we were having a normal discussion. Our order came out and we asked for silverware and we were provided to-go pack of silverware. Now I am by no way Racist BUT in the entire dining room we were in we happened to be the only Caucasians and I noticed that every other person in that Dining room were using real silverware and cloth napkins as pictured were issued to-go packs and bar napkins. I requested a manager and when she asked if she could help I asked about real forks and she looked dumbfounded as if why was I asking for that. The manager left and came back with one fork wrapped in a bar napkin and a stack of bar napkins and we were a party of Four. I feel like this is an actual Racist establish now. Started with a cocktail and the canal combo appetizer. Took ages to get the drink despite us being one of the only tables there, nonetheless the drink was good! Our entrees came quickly. I had the fried catfish basket which was good but basic. The French fries were delicious and I like their Cajun ranch. I found the service to be really slow but thankfully we were in no hurry. I came here during early Sunday afternoon and it didn't look busy inside but I'm assuming because of shortage of staff, we had to wait. Luckily though, it was only a 15-20 minute wait for my part of 3. The staff were super nice and our waiter took excellent care of us. We ordered a lot of food but I had the boudin balls and the jambalaya pasta. The boudin balls were super tasty! I love the mixture inside with rice and meat and dipping it in the sauce made it spicy but flavorful! The jambalaya pasta was a HUGE portion, it can definitely be shared by 2! It was super flavorful but i think because of the large overwhelming portion, I got tired of it after a few bites. But hey, I'm not complaining; you're getting a bang for your buck! The only issue I had during my stay were the nats that were flying around at our seating area (booth). But overall, will definitely try other items on the menu! read more
