After reading reviews for Brow Art 23 in the Columbia Mall, I decided to get my eyebrows shaped there today---And was not disappointed! Arzoo was the one who ended up doing my eyebrows, and she did an incredible job! It took about 2-3 minutes, not long at all. She also colored them in for free, which was also a plus! :) I will definitely have Arzoo do my eyebrows from now on. The location of Brow Art 23 is in the hall right behind The Children's Place, and near one of the many entrances of the mall. Horrible. Just plain horrible. The lady was in a rushed to do my eyebrows just because another customer walked in. She threaded my eyebrows for less than 2 minutes and told me I was done. When I looked in the mirror, I had to ask her to clean it and if she had witch hazel or lotion to finish it off. One eyebrow has a curve arch and the other look like I have a straight eyebrow. I went for eyebrow threading and there was no wait time. I've been to many other places that usually charge $10, however Brow Art 23 charges $12. (Which was fine, considering its location is in the mall) Geeta did a very good job and was patient with me since its been a while since I've gotten my eyebrows waxed. After waxing for many years, I made the switch to eyebrow threading a year or two ago because i feel like you have more control over the shape of your brow, and it looks better. I used to trek out to far-flung malls and tried a place on Rte 40 in Ellicott City (but they cut my brows and they bled!), so I am super thrilled that I found a place close to home in the mall of columbia! this place opened in the fall of 2011, but is hidden at the very end of the corridor of children's place across from a nail salon (next to an exit to the covered parking lot). It's nice that you're not getting your eyebrows threaded in the middle of a walkway at a mall and are in an actual shop, so it's worth finding this place even though it's hidden away! it's only $11 for eyebrows (amazing, right?!) and the longest i've ever had to wait is five minutes; i've never called ahead. the space is huge (kinda weird, because there's usually only one lady working), but clean and there's a couch and some chairs to wait in if your significant other or friends want to wait while you're having your threading done. i've had two different ladies do my brows and i was happy with the results for the three or four times i've gone. both of them asked me what i wanted and let me look at my brows when they were done to see if i wanted anything done differently. They were not offended when i asked for more of an arch, or for something to be different, and tried to accommodate my requests. The lady during the weekdays (M-W) also trimmed my brows for me. Cheap lotion (I pass on this) and alcohol are an option at the end as well. Check them out if you are local! I highly recommend. read more

If you read any of my other threading reviews, you'll know how serious I am about my brows! I'm one of those poor unfortunate souls who has bushy, curly, uneven eyebrows. This is the ONLY place in the world (and by world, I mean US & UK) that can tame these beasts! I used to go to Apsara Day Spa, but I was so happy when this place opened up much closer to my house. I've been here several times, and my brows always look flawless. There isn't a particular threader that I see, which means that all of the women who work here are skilled. I must admit that their technique is less gentle than most. This is actually an advantage because they pull the hairs from the roots, which makes them grow back more slowly. I did not get the name of the woman who serviced me. I only did eyebrows today. Service was great, fast, well done, and less pain than the girl I normally go to! I am Italian with thick - hard to manage hair. After threading I will never wax again. Anyone who waxes should give threading a try! I usually go to Brow Art 23 in Annapolis mall. Stopped in on a Friday afternoon, my brows were in serious need of some grooming. I usually go to Dupont Threading in DC when I can, but haven't made it down there for a while so I figured I've give this local spot a try. Arzu (sp?) did a good job shaping my brows as I requested, but the process was much more painful that I am used to-much more pinching and pulling. She also reprimanded me for letting my brows go so long between threading appointments, which I have mixed feelings about. I'm glad I know that this place exists, but I'll probably stick to going to Dupont Threading whenever I can. read more

First time getting my eyebrows threaded and they did a very good job. I'm not going back to wax or pluck ever again! There were a couple of inconveniences, though. The first one is that the place is hard to find, luckily with the help of Parry B, a yelper, I could find the place. Sure, there is a kiosk on the upper level by JC Penney, but I like privacy. Then when I got there their system was down and they couldn't accept credit cards, just cash. I was in a rush, so even if I was annoyed I wasn't about to go somewhere else to get the job done, so out I went looking for an ATM. Went to get my eyebrows cleaned up and it was my first time back here since I went once like 2 years ago. I had a good experience then and this was also very good. The lady was courteous and made small talk but nothing annoying or invasive. Used to be a regular here, but I've stopped going. They really thin out your eyebrows rather than shaping the natural line, so they grow back more quickly. I've also noticed that the last few times I went they've really messed up my brows. I tried going to different ladies but it got worse not better. At this point my eyebrows are different lengths, different widths, and one has a weird little bald stipe in the middle that is difficult to fill in. Absolutely horrible service. I just left because I was waiting to be serviced. The young lady that typically performs the service was assisting someone else and she completely ignored me. Not only did she not acknowledge that I was waiting for her- she kept talking to her customer even after she was finished threading her brows; left her station, went to the back of the store and didn't come back out. I've been going here for a couple of months now and have to say this is the best place in Columbia to get your brows done. I tried a couple different artists in the store but finally found my go to girl. Ask for Arzoo, she's a brow master!! She only works on Fridays, Saturdays and Sunday's. I've been trying to fill in and thicken my brows and with her guidance and patience she has helped me accomplish this. I get my brows done here every month. The ladies work very fast and at most Ive waited 5 minuets to get attended but once youre in te chair youre done in 3 minuets. Different workers do eyebrows slightly different, some leave them a little thicker, some thinner, but Ive always been happy with the result. Eyebrows are like haircuts you need to wait a day and you will love the results even if it seems a little drastic at first. Trust me its not. The lady here did my eyebrows efficiently and pretty much the way I wanted them - thinned out my naturally thick eyebrows but retained the natural curve. The salon? shop? itself was very clean and spacious, and it seemed a little too large for the services. Anyway, the cost was $12 for eyebrow threading, and I wasn't sure if you were supposed to tip after that exorbitant charge. They messed up my eyebrows once and from then on I just specify "i like to keep my eyebrows long on the ends and the same thickness" and I ask for just a slight arch, not a drastic one. She then told me my eyebrows have nonshape which they do and was askimg me where she should remove hair from. First and final visit. The thing is, their first impression left a lasting impact, not the service. The woman in the shop was so rude before I could even get my eyebrows done, that I immediately left without hesitation. I went in with my friend around 1pm. It was a quiet and empty Thursday afternoon, my friend and I were the only two present. No shop staff to be seen or heard of. We stood waiting for about 3 minutes complimenting the space and decor. During this time, no one came to greet us. We thought the shop was empty it was so quiet, until we heard somebody moving around in the back. I politely called out "hello?" to see what was going on, if I could get my brows threaded and why had we been waiting here in borderline silence for now about 4-5 minutes. A woman replies with an inquisitive "hello?" herself as if she hadn't heard people outside waiting. I asked about possibly getting my brows done, and finally she appears, quick and somewhat annoyed "you have to come back in 10 minutes, wait, I'm eating my lunch." Like, really? So with that, I promptly put the little pamphlet with the prices back on the counter and left. No way would I wait, be ignored and then pretty much dismissed like I was and then let her take my money. I understand the need to eat, but the way she handled the situation and her delivery leave much to be desired. Great service I was in and out in about 5 minutes (probably because I was the only one there). This was my first time ever doing threading. The ladies were very pleasant. Only $19 for eyebrow and upper lip threading ($12 for eyebrow, $7 for upper lip). It was a lot more painful than I expected it to be, probably about as painful as waxing, but a lot less invasive on the skin, and she was very quick. But my eyebrows look great! About an hour later and the redness has gone away. I applied hydrocortizone when I got home and it helps. They didn't even ask for a tip, which I expected they might, so that was nice. I have been to this location about three to four times. The first two or so times were good. This last time was horrible. The woman must have been new because she pulled the string so tight that she broke it TWICE! She also really hurt my eyebrows. I was pretty tramatized and do NOT plan on going back. It's unfortunate because as the reveiw above states, the shop is really nice and big and the prices aren't bad.
