Darn it..I can't remember the esthetician's name: I want to say Crystal or Kim but I'm not positive and want to slap myself in the face for this for 1) I pride myself in remembering people and names and 2) she was practically perfect in every way! All I can say is she's a long-haired brunette beauty with an incredibly pleasant demeanor, and obviously an expert at her craft! My brow hairs are long but sparse and mainly I booked at Brow Lounge to get some tinting action in hopes it would make my brows appear fuller. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a lovely lady who immediately offered me water or tea while I waited for my appt. The lobby, for lack of a better term, is quite homely with comfy chairs and fragrant candles. Plus, they have an area dedicated to boutique type clothes, jewelry, etc. for browsing while waiting. Brow beautification time began with my esthetician situating me in a cozy chair and making sure I was comfortable. We then discussed my brow issues/concerns, she genuinely listened and provided recommendations for styling. She used a little wax for shaping purposes but did not sacrifice any of those scarce hairs I so desperately wanted to keep. She also trimmed the long brow hairs to keep them from making wacky configurations as they sometimes do. Then onto tinting: she skillfully matched the tint to my hair color and skin tone, while explaining that tints usually only last for two to three weeks. Throughout the experience she handed me a mirror numerous times to make sure the progress was to my liking. Once my brows were shaped, trimmed and tinted, she took the time to show me how to subtly apply powder so as to make my eyebrows appear fuller all the time. She went even further by adding a highlighting product below my brows. Again, I hate that I forgot her name because she was a pleasure to talk to throughout the appointment and amazed me by providing tips for at-home maintenance. About an hour after I left the lounge, the receptionist called to see if I had left a bag containing a skirt there. It wasn't mine, but I was incredibly impressed at the care and concern about their customers. *One suggestion, some of the parking in the village is time restricted, just be sure to find a spot that will allow enough time for your appt. I do not have a single complaint about the Brow Lounge. All of the employees I encountered were knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and genuinely good people! I have to say I went here because several friends have the best brows so I wanted to hit up their fav brow spot. Took me a few days to get a time that fit my schedule and an open time. I had very full brows and this is only after trying to get them after 8 months of growing them back after crappy waxing experiences. The salon is cool, comfy, has tons of stuff to buy to fill in your brows after they overwax them....I was so excited till I was handed the mirror!!!!! The girl totally over waxed and over snipped. Thank god for Latisse it will take months to fix them but I don't think it's worth the 40 I paid for the JV job. Pretty kitty in PB rules and girls I think are wayyyyyyyyyyy better. To those who think Groupon is bad for businesses because it allows one-time customers to get services at deeply discounted prices, take me for example: Yes, I came here with a Groupon, but I will absolutely be returning. My brows were a hot mess when I came in, but Annie quickly and expertly fixed that. Never before have I had someone pay so much attention to my brows. She was quick with the waxing, painstakingly thorough with the tweezing and even gave my brows a little extra TLC, brushing them and filling them in. Her work definitely shows: My brows have never looked better! Had I not had a Groupon, my services would have been $40, which is a LOT more than other local places charge. But, when asked by my sister if I thought the price was justified, I pondered for a moment and then decided that yes, $40 for a total brow makeover is absolutely worth it. Make sure you ask for Annie if you come here - she was great! read more

I am in eyebrow heaven. So, I'm known to have sort of unruly eyebrows. Part of the problem is my skin is very sensitive and when I get my eyebrows waxed - I am red for WEEKS and develop a yucky bumpy rash. So, I've been tweezing on my own (and that's hasn't worked well for me). I called around 2:00pm when I left work and was able to get in at 2:45pm - perfect for the drive from downtown to La Jolla (I knew I'd get lost). I told them about my skin sensitivity issue and the lady on the phone explained that we I could have a tweeze only - it was $5 more and would not take much longer. I agreed considering the desperation of my face. When you walk into brow lounge there's the check-in area to the right (which is super cute and smells delicious!). I was then escorted by my brow artist - Megan - to the room across the hall. It's an open room with these chairs that lean all the way back so you're laying down. It's visible in the photos on yelp. Meagan was all business, quick and did an AMAZING job! My eyebrows looked like I had just gotten a wax (better) minus the redness and bumps. She also shaped them and made them look so perfect! I went across the way after I was done and paid and asked why the room smelled so good! They had this candle lit called Creme Brulee (sp?) and they had them for sale. It was about $20 which is a little pricey but it smelled so good I couldn't resist! (My house smells incredible BTW). The total time spent was about 45 minutes from exiting my car and getting back into my car. I paid about $45 for my tweeze. Megan was AMAZING! I visited the Brow Lounge after purchasing a Groupon. I probably won't go back there only because the price is steep and the salon is not convenient for me to visit frequently. The aesthetician was knowledgeable, but I got the feel that customers are numbers game to the salon. That is, one in and one out, as quickly as possible. There's a difference between being quick and treating customers like an assembly line. I certainly felt the latter. Indeed, my brow shaper did a good job and explained what she was doing. The salon itself is clean and comforting. The receptionist is also really nice. The chairs are leather reclining and you have a mirror above you so you can see what is being done to your face. The salon also pushes products. As someone else mentioned, ask for pricing up front. The aesthetician basically told me to buy this brow kit that had a stencils etc... I said OK and was surprised that it was $80/$90 for the kit! I could have said "no" but then I thought that I could use new tweezers and brow filler, so I just bought it. In hindsight, I frequently use that brow kit. The filler matches my eyebrow color perfectly and the tweezers, brush and pencil are top notch. I've had the kit for a year and nothing has run out. I don't know if I would pay $80/$90 AGAIN for the kit, but I think it has paid for itself already. read more

As someone who has the thickest, darkest, bushiest greek eyebrows, I think Annie is a miracle worker. I grew up thinking my bushy eyebrows were the most horrible things. I have gone through so many bad eyebrow waxes, from people making me have little tadpole eyebrows to teeny tiny high arches, to crooked eyebrows from trying to maintain it myself! I was introduced to the brow lounge about 9 years ago (?) when it was still called Anastasia. I was lucky enough to get scheduled with Annie! She shaped my poor brows and told me where to grow them in. Luckily my giant brows grow back to their original form, and very fast! Annie has consistently given me the most even, beautiful brows! I honestly can't rave enough about how good of a job she does. I get compliments wherever I go. She keeps my brows thick, as they are naturally, but shapes them correctly and accentuates their natural arch. I won't let anyone else touch my brows! I'm just sad it took me that long to find her! I honestly can not say enough good things about Brow Lounge or the amazing girls that work there. I have been a client of Stephanie's for over 7 years and she is the absolute best in the business. I look forward to my visits with her for so many reason but beautiful brows is a BIG one. This is such a cute brow salon! Parking was not a problem and the staff was friendly and attentive. Too bad I was sort of in a rush because I would have liked to browse through the girlie items that was up for sale in the boutique. Stephanie did my brows (tint and shaping), and I was really happy with her work and felt comfortable with her. Unfortunately, she doesn't work weekends, so I would have to rush from Del Mar after work during the week in order to get an appointment with her. As such, I will keep on going to Alexis K Brows in Solana Beach because both of the salons' expertise and service are comparable. I don't trust anyone else with my brows but the Brow Lounge. I've been getting my brows done here for a couple of years and have had great experiences every time. My brow expert, Hayley by far, in my humble opinion, is the best! She takes her time and is very maticulate. She also is pleasant to speak with and shows you exactly what is going on with your brows and explains any over tweezing I may have done and how to better take care of them. The studio layout and decor is fabulous you really get what you pay for. It is a youthful luxurious environment, it is a little pricey but it is defenitly worth the money. They also offer student discounts and special discounted packages. This place does more than brows, they also do body waxing, make up application, skin treatments and much more. I LOOOVE THE BROW LOUNGE! I get my eye brows done with Marlena and she does such and amazing job! My eye brows look like a movie star when she is done. She takes her time and since my eyes are closed most of the time, I am not sure what she does (other than the waxing) but whatever it is the results are amazing. Let me start off by saying I called them at 5:21PM on a Friday desperate for a wax same day. I had just gotten them shaped 4 weeks ago but they needed a touch up and I was in the area. They took me at 5:30 and I received the most meticulously perfect 30 minute eyebrow shape of my life. My brows look amazasaurus! Note that this is a high priced joint ($40) but you most certainly get what you pay for! :) Yay! You can't go wrong with Brow Lounge-- every employee does a fantastic job! It's the only place in San Diego I trust to do my brows. They are friendly, knowledgable and professional. I came in with misshapen, scraggly, thin brows and they KINDLY corrected them with very light wax/tweezing for proper arching, showed me my color for filling them in and even explained how to do them on my own. They don't pressure you into buying products but if you need some guidance ask anyone-- especially Marlena she is a skin care guru and does crazy good facials! I see Kristl and she knows how to make my brows on point even when I don't see her for an amount of time. The entire staff is welcoming and friendly and making an appointment for myself or sometimes a small group is easy as long as you make it in a good amount of time (3-4 weeks). Parking is in the street so give yourself a good amount time to find parking and a real short walk to the shop. Let me start by saying I really hate giving less than favorable reviews. I'm a small business owner myself and I know how this can hurt a reputation but I have to say my peace. I also don't believe in giving 1 star ratings because these types of reviews feel like a bitter customer out for revenge. I'm an unhappy customer that received horrible service that will never go back to this establishment. I had not plucked my eyebrows for about a year and a half because I wanted a fuller brow. I knew I was looking for a professional to work my bushy caterpillar eyebrows into a masterpiece so I decided on this place. Plus, I live in the Village and if I don't have to leave "the bubble" I don't, so the more services I have within a walking distance the better. I walked in to a non-enthusiastic receptionist, not horrible but not great at her job either. Since i'm in retail I know that first impressions are the most important impressions and this first impression was not good and it has lasted... I should have left at that point but I didn't. I sat down with my brow specialist and I asked her if she threaded and she said no. No problem, "can you just wax the lower part of my brow and pluck the upper? I don't like the bald look of waxing above my brow". What does she do??? As I'm asking her she puts wax on the upper part! Whatever, It'll grow back. She continues on doing her job telling me that I need to stop plucking and start growing my eyebrows out. I haven't touched them with tweezers in a year and a half!!! She suggested that I start filling my brows in which I usually do but I had run out of it recently so I decided to hear her out. She sold me on a kit with brow powder, stencils, etc. I bought it hook line an sinker. I walked out $100.00 poorer with bald patches on my forehead, and a mini bag in hand. I walked 2.5 blocks back to work and sat down to go about my day. I opened my little bag to see my purchase and to my surprise she gave me a kit for blonde hair. If you take a look at my profile picture you'll notice that my hair is one shade lighter than black. I called them up to talk about my purchase and they said they match my eyebrows not my hair. My eyebrows are the same color as my hair. I suspect they were out of my color kit and didn't want to loose the sale. Sorry ladies :-( read more

Not at all impressed. I spent $130 at this place and am thinking about going back to either have them complete the job they charged me for or ask for a refund. I got a brow shaping, my upper lip waxed and supposedly a partial Brazilian wax. They charged me full price but gave me nothing close to a Brazilian wax. First off, the wax was way too hot and burned my upper bikini area, which is the most sensitive area. the esthetician admiited that someone earlier had complained about the wax being too hot. So. I asked her to hold off on doing that area. Then, she tried to get off without doing anything else and letting her work stand complete which was actually half-assed and hardly done. Since I am pregnant I could not see the work she had done, got home, had my man look at it and he said it looks nothing different than the day before I had gone in there. It really pains me to have spent so much money for half-assed work. Oh, and I also told her not to cut the hair off on top of my brow, but she did anyway and made my brow look squared off, I asked her to correct it, and she did, but gee whiz, what kind of place is this?? You're better off going to a nail salon for this kind of work. read more

Love this place, it can be a bit pricey but it is worth it because they ladies here know what they're doing. They are friendly and professional, the place is nice and extremely clean. Will absolutely be coming back to get my eyebrows done. That being said, I am a bit disappointed that I went in yesterday and they had a $30 special for Mother's Day that I did not know about and they did not bother to tell me and charged me full price. I used to get my brows threaded but when the woman who did the threading moved to Texas I plucked my brows on my own. Finally one day I came to Brow Lounge I got my brows done with Annie and she did an awesome job. I drive about 30 minutes to come here and this place is definitely priced then most salons but I didn't want anyone to mess up my eyebrows so I thought the money was worth it. I came in again about 4 weeks later and once again Annie did an awesome job. The third time I came in, MY EYEBROWS TURNED OUT IN 2 DIFFERENT SHAPES. Annie told me I had a high arch and that's what she would shape them as but now I have one thicker high arch and one thin brow that is almost straight. So unhappy. Now I'm going to have to wait for them both to grow out and start over again and find a place that is reliable. This place is not worth $40 for a 5 minute brow shaping that sucks and then a little powder. Go somewhere affordable or do your brows yourself! read more

I do not recommend coming here. $50 for eyebrows...really?! so I went because I thought it would be good....it is just like any other place like Ziba or other threading that charges $15-20 . I don't recommend they are snobby too from receptionist all the way up. Give me a break.
