This is probably one of the cutest coffee shops and bookstores that I have visited. Brown Mustache Coffee is located in the back of The Old Fox Bookstore and Coffee Shop. The coffee here is really good. They have a variety of drinks on their menu as well as a seasonal menu. I ordered a lavender latte and my husband ordered a London Fog. Our drinks came out after a few minutes and they were well made. My lavender latte was a good balance of sweetness and flavor. There was one person behind the bar making the drinks. So it took a few minutes but she was very friendly. The coffee they use is high quality too. The coffee shop is cozy and the bookstore is equally cozy and inviting. There are plenty of spaces to sit, with two levels, outdoor seating, and a kids area. The outdoor patio is a dream. With string lights, a chandelier, and a unique play area (you walk into a giant book), the space encourages you to slow down, enjoy your beverage, with a good book or good company (or both). If I lived here I would come all the time. I will just have to be satisfied with visiting it. read more

We sought this coffee shop out on our visit to Annapolis because we always go with the local coffee shop when we can. Unfortunately this experience was not good, frustrating even. We ordered right away but waited over twenty minutes for our drink. When we asked they suggested another customer must have gotten "grabby" and taken it. No real apology for the wait or mistake. As soon as I walked through the doors of Brown Mustache Coffee (located in the back room of Old Fox Books), I felt like I was at home. The atmosphere is warm and inviting with an air of cozy sophistication and whimsy. They proudly use Ceremony Coffee Roaster beans and carry a variety of unique drinks that make it worth stepping into this shop (think lavender lattes and Japanese Flash Brewed Iced Coffee). Although their was only was barista, the lined moved quickly and smoothly. Why am I only just finding out about this place! I was always looking for a chill, local coffee shop that made things better than Starbucks and at which I could work on the weekends in peace. This place truly was exactly what I have been hunting for! It's even in the back of a bookstore! I tried the daily special when I went, the jasmine latte, and ended up liking it so much that I ordered a second to go when I was done with my work. It's clear that lots of local folks come here to work on the side; there were college students doing homework, startups holding interviews over coffee, and at least one professor preparing for the next week's courses. I rate a coffee shop based on how good their coffee is and how good the environment is for the kind of work I have to get done at one and this was exactly what I had hoped it would be. When we walked in we thought that we were in a Harry Potter movie set. This place is like something you would expect in Diagon Alley. There is a bookstore in back and a nice coffee/tea cafe all the way in front. It's a pretty nice place to relax, hang out and get a good cup. They use both high quality tea and coffee. The tea is fun because you can smell it in little glass jars, the coffee they use are good beans and you can tell. I like the fact that they have some gluten free bakery items and they also have regular pastries that they sell there. The workers are always friendly and more than willing to recommend a cup if you tell them what you like. Highly recommend this place. read more

We ducked in here for emergency caffeination and were so glad we did because it is such a charming little cafe/bookstore combo! We spent the next hour browsing through all of the used books (they extend down to a basement) and getting lost in all of the little knick knacks that make this place so charming. Drinks wise I've had an iced Americano which was quite good and a Rose Matcha Latte. The Matcha latte wasn't anything special but a solid drink! read more

I had THE best mocha I have ever had here. And that's saying a lot. I asked for it to have light chocolate because sometimes you get sweet hot chocolate like espresso drinks, but this was perfect. Creamy, I could taste a bit of sweetness and a beautiful combination of espresso. It was wonderful. My husband had a dry capuchino and he really enjoyed his. The ratio of espresso to milk was spot on and he is pretty picky. The little store itself is so charming. The Brown Mustache is a real find for anyone looking for something quaint and unique. Walk through the bookstore to the back coffee bar. Do yourself the favor and check out the back patio and the amazing garden just down the stairs. I need a peaceful place like that of my own... just fabulous. I had a flat white, the WiFi was fast, easy to connect to (password was: makeamericareadagain ;) reliable , and I purchased a few really kitschy greeting cards with stamps too. Perfectly set in a little downtown shop lined area. Didn't have any food but they have gluten free options which always earns them a fifth star from me! This place is a book and coffee lover's paradise. Especially if you're into Harry Potter, there are plenty of books, small gifts, and hidden surprises around the shop that you'll love. The main floor has a book room, kids area, fireplace with comfy chairs for reading around, and the coffee bar. There's a huge back patio / garden that I didn't get to hang out in since I visited in the cold winter months, but I can't wait to come back and spend some time reading outside. The basement feels like a secret reading room. It's cozy and quiet and a great place for studying while surrounded by creative book displays and props. We stopped here for afternoon coffee and tea while visiting Annapolis. It's a quick walk from the State House. BMC provided very good service, nice atmosphere (inside a neighborhood bookstore), good coffee and tea. They carry Adagio Tea. I had a 20oz Earl Grey; it was delicious and smooth with a hint of vanilla. BMC was a wonderful find! read more

Really cool little cafe hidden in a quaint cute book store. The coffee isn't bad and there's a seat to read a book. Don't forget to venture down stairs either, they have a couple more seats and a lot more books. The cafe was operated by one person, so it seemed like more of a side venture rather than a full sized coffee shop. The barista was friendly though. If I'm back in Annapolis I might swing by. One of favorite spots in Annapolis. The staff are very friendly and the atmosphere can't be beat. This coffee shop and book store is small, homely, and filled to the top with books. The coffee was decently priced, slightly acidic and well flavored. The Carmetto ( a latte with caramel sauce) was fantastic, not too sweet with pronounced coffee and caramel flavor, would recommend. read more

Went here for an early morning coffee and croissant, one of the few places open at 8am on a Sunday (yay!). The service was good, went up to an order window outside and the staff was masked. The ambiance of their backyard patio was super cute and cozy, I also liked that it was not in the busy heart of the main retail area. Quaint old-school bookstore cum cafe. Absolutely great atmosphere to chill and read, write, compose, work, even have a meeting (live or otherwise) since it's got a quiet atmosphere not like many of the modern cafes (aka Starbucks) where they blast the music a little too loud and I can barely think unless I have my noise-canceling headphones on. Only downside, is you have to find and pay for street parking. It's not too too bad. Still, it is one downside but the atmosphere easily trumps that. read more

I love this coffee shop! It's a great place to go with friends or just to study alone. I always grab a drink before I find a place to sit. They had a variety of coffees and teas to chose from. I think what I like the most about this place is the relaxing and calm mood. You feel good immediately when you enter, like you're meant to cozy up by the fire and read a good book. I popped in quickly to grab coffee for my husband and I (who had the dog out on the sidewalk) so I wasn't able to fully sit and enjoy everything but it's straight out of a movie. Barista was very attentive​ and was quick. The place is located in the back of a bookstore​ so you may be a little confused if there are many people in the front area of the story. There's few things I like better than a coffee shop inside of a book shop. It's that perfect vintage-y academic quirky vibe. They also use ceremony coffee which is local and delicious. They also have cool latte flavors that I'm a sucker for, like lavender and honey. I also love that they have compostable to go cups and a compost bin. The service is always good too!
