I was asked about three times if I was sure before they ordered my 200.00 part. That part is going to SAVE me 1500.00 in repairs.They ran a diagnostic that let me find my issue long before it gave my system uneven wear.They'll help you keep your car in top form instead of lying to you & telling you they checked out what you were experiencing & that it was nothing,cause you're a woman.What other shops really want is for you to have to have the car towed in now that the transmission has failed & they have you over a barrel. He even sent a guy to pick up my part when the supplier that had always been reliable let him down.THANKS! read more

I was quoted a charge from one of the service managers and he went on vacation. And then a new person took over and charged me a substantial amount above the agreed upon amount. Further more they ordered a part out of state and a week later the part was not delivered and nobody followed through. I had to call the parts company personally to find out the availability of the part only to be told that the part was unavailable. So this company dropped the ball on every level. The final analysis. In response to Bob L I have to wonder why he never addresses the question as to why his business does not provide a receipt for services / repairs etc etc So what Bob is pretty much saying is that its ok that I can only drive my car for 30 or 40 minutes before the transmission overheats and starts hesitating to shift, slipping gears and shuddering. And i can smell it burning!!! If i dont pull over and let it cool off for 1/2 hour or more the tramsmission will lock up. If it is acceptable for your business to think that there is nothing wrong with my transmission, Then that is a problem for any customer Like i mentioned before the problem doesnt present all the time Only under hot temps and a drive time of approx 45 minutes. Dan always told me he did not have time to drive around for 45 minutes . The problem was that when i did bring the car in it would sit for days even weeks before it was looked at And Dan told me that..said he was short staffed and would get to it when he could... Thats fine and I understood that, but you cant turn me away when i bring the car while it is presenting the problem. When i drove further to have Tom check it out it was overheating!! Yes i have continued to drive my car but with restrictions I paid to have the transmission rebuilt, I should have been able to drive it more than 40 minutes at a time.. And if you say there were other issues Why would your business not research what it might be and offer solutions Rather than just sweeping the problem under the carpet and refusing to look at my car. I have taken my car to several mechanics they could not find any other reason for my transmissiin to be overheating. All I expected from Brownies IT was a rebiult tramsmission that worked. I received a text message from the manager, Dan, asking me to delete my previous post about my experience, claiming that John does not work for him and that my post might bring negativity to the business. I believe it's essential for the management at Brownies to be aware of the behavior of their employees. John Lane provided me with nothing but excuses and unfulfilled promises over a two-week period regarding the repair of my vehicle. Ultimately, I had to have my car towed back to Dayton to find another mechanic who could actually fix it. While I appreciate that every business wants to maintain a positive image, I refuse to sweep my experience under the rug. I can't help but feel that my treatment, as a black female, was influenced by my identity. I suspect that if I were a male--especially a white male--I would have received much more respect and straightforward communication. I share this not out of spite but as a call for accountability and better practices. Everyone deserves to be treated with honesty and respect, and I hope that my message encourages a reflection on how clients are treated at Brownies. Get your FACTS straight, Manager, Dan!!!! My husband got his transmission fixed and a block and in the end of September (transmission) and October (block) and now the transmission is messing up and they claim they cannot find anything on file nor have anything on electronic record for his invoice. On top of that he looked up the repair information on the car itself and none of those repairs on listed but each and every other repair was. He couldn't find the invoice for the transmission but has the other invoice in his hand. This is utterly ridiculous. Not only did they not help with his invoice for his transmission but they didn't report the repairs. Whatever it is that any person is legally obligated to report repairs, they did not. I can't urge you enough to STAY away from this location in particular. I can not speak on Brownies as a whole, but the Kettering location is NOT worth it. Unless you want to be terrified to death and love being lied to want to call the cops. Then be my guest! On March 12 I dropped my suv to be diagnosed at the Kettering Location. I had spoken to the Manager Dan, I urged how important it was that my car get fixed as soon as possible.(4 kids school family in town you get the picture) His first lie was and I will quote " Due to the pandemic you won't go to any shop and have this fixed right away, parts are delayed and it's hard finding employees blah blah blah" So I decided to take him for his word and left my car with him. I never expected a call right away as too what the actual problem was. But when I had to contact him to get the update that bothered me. Once we got the diagnoses we were told 2 weeks and a price give or take. So we decided to move forward. A week later I had my husband contact Dan to see what the status of my car was. Once again why are we always the one that have to call? A bull shit response and answer from Dan. But what could we do? Out of curiosity I started to call around other shop too see what the actual turnaround time was for a problem like mine. I called multiple shops. The standard time was 3-5 days a week max. One brownies that I called he was honest from the start telling me he had multiple cars and I could be looking at 3 weeks. Let me repeat this to fix a transmission it does not take 2 weeks if they have a lot of cars that's what takes 2 weeks or more. When we offered to take our car to another company because they could get it done sooner, Dan said he would "bump" our car up the list and have it completed on Monday the 28th. It never got completed Monday instead it was Wednesday the 30th with excuses after excuses. Let me explain DAN knew that I wanted this car rental to go back as soon as possible. That is why we said we would go to another shop if he was so busy and not capable of getting my car fixed in a timely manner. He lied said he could get it done. I feel like Dan knew he wasn't getting any more money from us but he knew the longer he bullshits on my car the more I get charged with this rental. His behavior and attitude felt intentional. Like a direct attack on us. The co- owner contacted me he was nice but nothing got resolved. I urge any consumer to ask for your old parts. And an itemized invoice when I initially asked for my parts Dan said that was fine the next day it was your more than welcome to go look for them in the dumpster. "Your suppose to ask for that in the very beginning" They have a brochure in the office that says to ask for this so if they know this why wouldn't they state that in the beginning themselves? Why wouldn't they ask us if we would like to keep them? We consumer don't always know what to ask for. If they are so reputable and honest like they claim they are why is it that my experience was so awful and scary? Dan deserve to be fired because he is giving Brownies a bad taste right now. They also lied to me about car rentals they said they don't deal with that. But another Google review says they helped with that. So which one is it Brownies is your consumer the liar or are you? I never pay attention to reviews honestly I never had to use any mechanic shop till now. I can't urge you enough to pay attention do your research first. It will save you time and money. read more

I typically do not leave negative reviews but I absolutely cannot sit back & stay quite about my experience with this company. In the beginning of 2023 I had my father take my 2013 Mazda CX9 to have the transmission assessed (i am a fulltime working mother w/ 2 children, I simply could not make it within their hours) b/c it has a shudder that we could not get fixed. This resulted in them saying the torque converter was bad & the entire transmission needed to be replaced. We opted to have them rebuild the transmission, as that is what seemed like the better option at the time. They had my car for rough 4 to 5 weeks, which was fine I understood that it takes time. Within a month of it being done (bank statement shows bill for $3500 was paid about March 1st 2023) the car started having a new issue, when it down shifts from gear to gear it would jerk forward. Again, as I am not able to make it within their hours, my father took it in for me to have them check it out since it is under warranty. He advised me that they couldn't find anything or feel what I was talking about. Taking their word I just ignored this jerking, even though it continued to happen. Fast forward to this week. I am wanting to trade my car in/sell it for something newer. I reach out on 6/18 @3:40pm to request a copy of my itemized invoice as to what was replaced in my transmission for when I go to sell/trade I have everything I've put into the car. After getting asked "don't you have the sheet that we gave you".. well not I don't, hence why I am requesting it. I get told that the lady who does works in the office charges a fee of $35 to "dig through boxes for to find it since everything is done by pen & paper", as absurd as that is being we are in 2024, I said that is fine I will pay it. He then told me that she was on a call & will call me back, he asked my name, i gave that to him & told him that it might have been in my fathers name since he took it/picked it up for me. Did not receive a call back that day, which is fine, I work in an office I get how it is and figured I'd get a call back the next day didn't. I then called around 4:30pm on 6/19. Was told that they have already spoken to my father, he said so you aren't selling the car but you have an issue with the car? I told him again, I am thinking about selling/trading in my car & am wanting the invoice for what has been done on my car & my father wasn't aware of my plans. He said she was already gone for the day and took my information for her to call me back. Again gave him my name & my fathers name and the kind of car I have. Finally today around 10:30 I get a call from her, only for her to absolutely refuse to speak to me about this because the invoice isnt in my name. I explained that I own the car and my father just dropped it off for me b/c of my work schedule. She then continued that she was told it was in his name and she can only speak to him about it. I said that I could verify any information she needed foe the car to prove it is mine and i paid the bill. She then continued with a raise dvoice "it is against the law for her to speak to me about this since it isnt in my name" I said I am just trying to get a copy of my invoice and I dint understand why this is so difficult, she then said "well it isnt your invoice, you aren't a customer of ours" please tell my bank account that since it clearly think i am since I paid the $3500. At this point I ended the call & had my father call aince i was getting no where. She proceeded to tell him they do not give out itemized statement showing everything that was done because she wouldn't hand write all of that information. And that if she has to look at multiple months then we will be charged multiple fees. When he called back with the date the charge was on the card he was told she looked & couldn't find anything regarding my car & the services they performed. This is all from simply asking for an invoice showing what they replaced on my car. I never mentioned about fixing anything but now I don't believe they did anything they claimed too. read more

Oh but baby! It hit different when he finally contacts U! I was so excited i screamed. He is one of the most polite Amazing people I've met here. Brownies has my car running like a champ!! It seems the search for the nice, affordable and trustworthy auto shop is never ending. I've tried many in the area over the years to no avail. Good work and straight talk usually came at a high price. A couple years ago I tried Brownie's IT on Dorothy Lane in Kettering. Since then I have used them on about 5 different occasions and I have been nothing but impressed every time. The price is more than fair and the work is excellent. They always tell me candidly whether certain repairs are necessary or not which I do not get at other shops. The one time there was an oversight on a repair, I was not charged for the additional labor and I didn't even have to ask. I cannot say enough, especially as a female, about how much these guys surpass my expectations. The only complaint I have is that they cannot do ALL of my repairs. read more
