We are traveling cross county on a motorcycle and finding quirky, non traditional places to spend 10 hours is a bonus. Lodge motif, cozy, loaded with eclectic art and outdoorsy flair... Brown's Canyon Inn is clean, the beds are comfy and the shower pressure is amazing. The owners are super friendly and eager to talk with visitors about Salida and beyond. Staying at Brown's Canyon Inn has been one of the highlights of our trik

This quirky little hotel is a winner!! Lots of rustic decor added to make it feel like an old cabin. The lobby area was a fun place for guest to gather and visit about their travels. The breakfast is free and for this bargain price, you won't find this in a tourist city. Bagels, breads, pastries, oatmeal, burritos, breakfast sandwiches, coffee and all the condiments are available each morning. We loved the hot tub area w a large table to hang out and the scenery is adorable. I'm not sure if it's the owner or manager but she is always about watering flowers, cleaning tables and making sure everything is perfect. The rooms are spacious w a fridge and tv. Some rooms are pet friendly too, so we were able to bring our dog. I'm not sure I understand some other posts about furniture, breads or road noise. Spend more than $99 a night if you want a Hollywood Suite. This is a great family budget choice. If you want a high end buffet w carved beef and an omelet station, go pay $200 a night. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ And there were open breads as well as sealed foods so if you are worried about Covid, you can have a sealed food choice. If the road bothers you, you literally saw this was on the main road online. Ask for a room in the back. With the AC humming, the road noise is not noticeable. We will definitely book again. Look at the pics for how cute the landscaping is around the hotel.

We were travelling through Salida on our way to Telluride and needed a place to stay for the night. We arrived late and the receptionist was very nice. The hotel and our room was super clean and had an old western theme. The room was fine for a night, but the furniture was old and in my opinion needed to ve replaced. Also there was a lot of traffic noise due to the location of the hotel.

Browns was by far one of my favorite hotels throughout my whole Colorado trip. A lovely woman owns it and she was so friendly throughout my overnight stay. She gave some great suggestions. I absolutely loved the theme of the inn. Lots of wood, animal prints, super homey and friendly. The beds were super clean and perfectly comfy. The bathroom was spacious and there was even some free snacks for breakfast. The star of the show was the view from the room. A beautiful view of the mountains was just what I wanted after a long drive. It was just perfect overall - I highly recommend the Browns Canyon Inn if you're ever traveling through the area.

It was the exact right vibes to celebrate my birthday. All of the details are so thoughtful. The rooms are clean and include a good size 'retro' mini fridge. The A/C kicks for a good, cold sleep. The beds are comfy and pillows are nice. It was a very quiet stay. I really don't have one bad thing to say about this spot. I really can't wait to come back again soon for another delightful stay! :)

We were lucky to grab a reservation for the night in one of the rooms, and had a long talk with Trinity at the front desk over everything at the motel. She was so friendly, accommodating, and informative. Come to find out the owners are from Austin, and it definitely gives those type of vibes forsure. I love seeing Texas influences here in Colorado. The whole motel was so well thought of and designed- from the airstreams to the lobby, the outdoor spaces and also the rooms we had everything we needed to have a nice and relaxing stay. It's a 3 minute drive to downtown Salida (pronounced Sa-lie-da as the sign outside states) where all kinds of shops/restaurants/breweries are, but also definitely check out Robins real close to the motel for a great breakfast or lunch spot. WiFi was great, bed was comfy and I got some great rest there. Will definitely book at Amigo Motor Lodge again next time we are in town! They really did such an amazing job renovating the motel in a cool modern type of way with a back home Texas twist to it.

If you want your room to be serviced make sure you ask for it because they only service rooms upon demand. The breakfast is passable, but minimal. There will always be some sort of egg, some sort of sausage, and some sort of potato. Along with that the usual bread and bagels to toast, juices, yogurt, cold cereals, waffle maker. Biggest complaints have to do with the room water and heating / Cooling. The water pressure was good, but sometimes he would turn the water on and get scalding water for one minute and then get nothing but lukewarm water the entire rest of your shower. There really was no consistency and even if you did get the temperature just right it would probably change within a minute or two. Ended up taking a lot of warm showers not hot showers. The other issue has to do with the heating and cooling in the rooms. They are still using the kind of old style console Heating and Cooling system, and you have to actually choose whether to heat or cool so if you're in that weird window where sometimes you need to heat up sometimes you need to cool you have to manually do it. And even when you do set it it's very questionable as to whether the thermostat is accurate and whether you'll ever actually achieve the temperature you set.

Lucky for us, Silver Ridge had a two-queen room at a much lower rate. Whizzing by on US 50, it looks like a run of the mill old motel. Nope. Rooms have been renovated. Ours was clean and looked nice inside. What we liked: Full size fridge/freezer Hot tub: It's reserve-in-advance by room in 30 minute blocks. No smelly tweakers, couples making out, or loud kids to kill the buzz (and enough chemicals to kill all germs). Our roomy shower had thick glass doors, preferable to a curtain. The self-operated pancake machine in the breakfast area was a fave of our kiddos, who could watch the pancake on a conveyor belt. Just ok: Breakfast was hit or miss. Biscuits/gravy were my fave. Pancakes did the trick. Coffee was fine. However, my scrambled egg discs were cold and the sausage patty tasted too weird to eat. Fruit, milk, OJ, and standard Continental fare were included, too. Bonus: The recent model smart tv was loaded with apps, but you have to login with your own credentials. People forgot to log out of Disney, Prime, and Netflix. While we have each of these, it's nice to have access if you don't already have them. The Salida Aquatic Center sits across the road if you want some hot spring-fed waters. Overall, Silver Ridge combines nicer-than-expected accommodations at a lower price than nearby chains while maintaining the intimate feel and personal touch of a local business.
